Thomas is going to be a big part of BJ scheming him special plays. Speed is insane.. First guy that needs to be cut is Mason Murphy. He was terrible. I like Lynch, his constant motor keeps disrupting plays even those he doesnt fill the stat line. Its probably between Lynch and Loving, I like both. Terrell Smith was playing well and Cam Lewis had his named mentioned a lot. Prince played well for a nobody knows who he is.

For sure. If he is going somewhere to start, a second is a bargain. The Bears will need to replace him with a good back up and that is not cheap either. We can go young again and I expect that, but having a #2 vet is key.

The reason I'm optimistic, this year, is because Tom Thayer is finally optimistic. He hasn't been this optimistic since 05. The reason for this optimism is surprising on one end and quite simple on the other. Simple reason: Ben Johnson. Thayer is the insider that knows what a solid program looks like and he claims to have seen none better than what BJ has established.(I believe him). Combine all that with year two of the offense and magic may become reality. Referencing everything from huddle control to the LOS, Caleb and the returning vets are in sync, while having the ability to correct the youngsters in real time. That will pay big dividends on penalty reduction and play success. Penalties play a huge role as a drive killer for various reasons, from down and distance to rhythm to psychological let down. Plus, it gives the defense a chance to regroup and gain positivity. My expectation for this offense is to improve in yards, points, penalties and TOP. The surprising reason for optimism is the additions to the DL. He says that they are all explosive off the ball and have sideline to sideline motors. At this point, I'll add my optimism. Tremaine Edmunds is no longer on the roster. I'm not calling him a bad football player. He simply didn't fit. All of our current Lb's are "hat in the hole" guys. If you know, you know. An improved run defense will be such an important factor in helping the pass rush. It's hard to measure how much the other team will be off the field but they'll need to convert on third and longer more than last year. I'm not stating the D is going to be good and neither is Thayer. What I will say, is that I believe it will be solid enough to win. And remember, the trade deadline can sometimes throw a team over the top.

That is why we have a Davenport here instead of a bigger name. This is basically the team we have in 2026. It has questions, but I totally trust BJ, Caleb and Poles to have added enough to keep us winning. A lot of people dont figure in the injured players coming back,, the developmental players improving. A surprise like VDB being good right away. Lynch, Gallimore, Street all making positive contributions. Booker reaching 10 sacks changes the 2027 year. Kromah could add to the sack total. My only two questions are ; is Kyle Gordon going to be available and Can Woods play well enough as the SS.

One thing I hate about reading everything Bears is how negative the comments are (not here). This is year 2 of a new era. The Bears hired an OC genius to be HC and bring a top 5 offense. There is so much hate towards Poles and DA in twitter or fb comments. To rebuild a team, you'relooking at needing a minimum 3 years to get players in place that fit the schemes. I am good putting the resources around Caleb and the offense first, that is the reason the Bears hired Johnson. The defense will always be second with Johnson as HC, but the Bears will get DA the pieces he needs in time. As AZ54 stated above, they are getting close and as PHX said, they could change more. It will be in between, but the interior dline needs another stud and also a stud do-it-all Edge setter that can get to the QB. Those 2 positions will transform and do more for the defense and should be round 1 and 2 priority, unless a great LT is there.

I'm not thinking overhaul either. Definitely, reinvestment with early draft capital. Keep those young DL coming in until it becomes dominant. The back seven will not matter as much as a result.

Every year creates a different set of circumstances. For now, we have players in place but with question marks. Some younger players may grow into roles we have questions at. The draft is going to be our main supply for help, add in cheap FA pickups going forward. If we have a glaring need , Poles will target that but with 20 mil in cap space right now (over the cap 2027) , some players he will let go. For sure Jarret is gone even if he has a big year. (age) If Dayo has a good year , will they still dumb him? Im not sure its an automatic yes. Next years needs has yet to be determined.
