    Battle at LT

Nice ending! Totally agree. We have college film, combine results and pro days to know if we like a guy. Rookie camp is a chance to see the new fit and test what they can do and learn. Coaches also learn during this time. People have different learning styles, so they must adapt to be better teachers.

    Battle at LT

This is the offseason. Of course you can't fully judge any of our players until they are actually playing a real game but it's ridiculous to say we, and the coaches, can't learn anything about a player while they are performing drills. Until we get to the games the coaches have no choice but to evaluate them on their form, technique, assignment discipline, etc. from drills and practice. In the past we've seen other Olinemen struggle with position changes (i.e. Kyle Long) and getting their feet, stance, and punch timing right early on in the offseason. The rookie, at this point, is not having similar issues with this transition. Of course I'm basing that off other camp observers not my own but Clay Harbor used to line up next to LTs in the NFL and he knows the expectations and what "good" looks like far better than I do. For me this is a positive start for the rookie. A rookie I had low expectations for. If there is nothing to learn from these drills why then are coaches wasting their time on them?
  4. Bye is Week 5 ugh. Feels way too early for me. Earliest bye week should be Week 7.
  5. I can see him lined up everywhere, including inline. From inline, they won't expect him to handle any DL, but he can chip and release, release and go in motion. Johnson has a motto, "no block, no rock".
  6. Today
  7. how do you know where they will line him up? my expectation is that they will do all sorts of things with him because he is so flexible.
  8. I think we have milked the Kmet conversation to death now. Weve all said everything we think, and now time will tell. All I can add right now is that I havent seen Kmet shake off defenders, or make contested catches. Maybe he will, but so far he hasnt lived up to his draft status or contract.
  9. Back in January you were saying 2 new OL at most, that you liked what we had on the roster, and I was saying 4. It looks like we are at 3 right now, and likely heading toward 4.
  10. yes, and in the past week or two Ive heard that Trapilo worked at LT after practice throughout his college career to be ready to play LT in the NFL. He's a big athletic guy, if he can take over well at LT, then that would be fantastic. Also as you say, we have Amagadje in the mix. Im ignoring all his film from last year, since he went from injury right into the fire without any preparation. So I think of him as a 3rd round rookie basically, or maybe even a third rounder who was redshirted. he will have his chance to compete too.
  11. Just seen an offical post that we are not playing on Christmas day. So I am going with the release tonight to get the real truth.

    Battle at LT

No one can judge OL or DL until the pads are on and they have contact.
  13. Heard there was video out there and there was some contact, which is a no no. But I am happy he is looking smooth and we get the best LT out of the 3 we have competing.

    Battle at LT

Players were just wearing shorts and t-shirts but based on what Clay Harbor and a couple others have said about rookie minicamp Trapilo surprised them with how good his pass pro form was at LT, smooth and quick in his sets. That's it, that's about all you can get out of a rookie minicamp with no contact and no playbook. Concerns that he won't look natural at LT after playing at RT seem to be gone. Next we'll add in Kiran during the OTAs and see how he's doing but this battle looks to be off to a good start.
  15. And fast forward through the commercials. I think it is also dumb. Games only on stream (Prime/Peacock) are dumb also.
  16. In this picture, Loveland looks like a WR. Zak Frazier is big and Ozzy is huge. I can see where Kyle would be hard to tackle with such a low center of gravity.
  17. Totally agree. Nothing waters the experience down like whoring it out...
  18. NFL only cares about money. Although they dont schedule Sat games until college schedule is done. Any fan will just watch a replay after they go to local HS game.
  19. Friday NFL games are stupid. Let Friday Night Lights be about High School.
  20. Ryan Fowler just posted we are playing the vikings on Chirstmas day in Minny.
  21. Our roster is set except for a possible edge after other teams cut players. LT will be between Ozzy, Braxton and Kiran, WRIGHT is not getting moved. DA will move around the DL to hide weaknesses at RDE. Hyppotile was a DA pick. He wont start but will see a lot of snaps. Edmunds will be used differently and looked like the player we paid big money to. In Buffalo he was better used. Our RBs are Swift-Johnson-Momongai-Homer. The only way we bring another RB will be due to injury. Swift and RJ will look better with an upgraded OL and OC. Some pundit rated WR duos and had Moore and Rome rated 9th? How will they rate WR group with Burden? With all our off season moves the most important player is still Caleb and how much better he plays?
  22. They rotate divisions but part of the problem is we have the strongest division in the league. I welcome a strong schedule , playing weak sisters doesnt grow your team.
  23. He is not going to be playing the inline TE role, Smythe will get those targets. He didnt get drafted for him to block. Johnson will adapt to the roster to design his offense but the first two picks mirror players he had in Detriot , Loveland and Burden. He has 2 TEs that can catch passes, he will use both in his offensive scheme. In Detriot the 2nd TE had 16 targets, that wont happen here.
  24. Maybe they had an offensive play caller that didnt design plays for him? Maybe you had a rookie QB that targeted certain WRs and ignored throwing to him. If you watch game tape, many times he was open and the rookie QB throws into a crowd to someone else. We can both make points but it all comes down to what the Bears do with him in an offensive that will be player friendly that spreads the ball around. You point to him not being talented because we drafted a rookie that hasnt had a NFL snap yet? That his lack of targets is because he isnt very good? Last year with 55 targets he had a 85.5% catch rate. In 2023 with with 90 targets caught 73 passes with 81.4% catch rate. Led TEs both years in catch % What would he had done last year if he got 153 targets. He would have better stats than Bowers. Last year Bowers had a 153 targets.(71.1 % catch rate) Is he talented, absoutely but Raiders had lousy WRs and they focused on throwing him the ball. You need to look at roster contruction when you judge targets. You say how bad the coaching staff was, OL was but then dont figure that into the performance of everyone except Caleb.
