30 mil wont last long giving one player 20 or more. Poles has to be smart and spread that out as wisely as possible. I would like Byard back for leadership and continuity. They need another DT even if they draft 2, a LB, then a vet at C and maybe LT, depending what they do at pick 25. Injuries and retirement put a damper on doing any luxury moves this offseason. Edge would be a luxury right now w Sweat, Dayo, Booker, and Turner.

It may not be sexy - but - if they nail the draft I think that is a big win and it is important. I also think we have to recognize the goal is to build a long-term winner. Getting Crosby and using a bunch of assets helps the team in the short - but I don't know that it puts them over the top and in 2 years+ I think it actually puts them behind the 8 ball. It goes back to - they need to take a balanced approach to team building. I think they need to identify and find young ascending talent, especially on the defensive front. But they also have to identify some more young and ascending talent on the oline. The cap situation is very different now - which is great - gives them flexibility - but quite frankly - they swung big on Jarrett and Ayo - and we aren't getting that value either - but thankfully they can walk away from that in a year. The piece that excites me - if the team uses this year to add more young talent - than you look at where they are a year from now - they have a ton of cap flexibility (this moves didn't just clear cap space now - they create even more flexibility a year from now - ie Moore saved $16M this year but I believe $25M next year). We can get too worked up on the quick fixes - and I'm okay if they supplement that with a targeted add or 2 - but I'm also okay if the primary focus is on multiplying draft picks and focusing on wave 2 of free agency (and even monitoring the trade front). Feels like with where the franchise is - jumping out of the gate (unless they have deemed Lindy or Tray or a safety) must haves - that at some point there will be less money and some quality guys out there and you can be more cap prudent getting those players (knowing the goal has to still be finding impact players via the draft). Note: I support going all in for the Ravens center - purely because when Thuney starts to degrade maybe you have the young C, Wright as your higher paid guys whlie you have some other younger talent hopefully ascending around the line. But again - that requires investment's in the trenches.

Thus the 30 mil. I wish for Hendrickson, at the most. Crosby and Linderbaum are way too expensive, IMO.
-
I really hope the Bears didn't clear up over 30 million in cap space to not make some sort of splash signing/trade. They just lost 3 quality starters this week. If they lose out on Lindenbaum or Crosby, it's going to put immense pressure on Ryan Poles to nail the draft again to replace a lot of these guys. They still need 2 safeties on top of a C, LT, and pass rusher—and now WR3.

Considering he is at the same pay range as Dalman, I don't know if the Bears wanted to pay a lesser version of Dalman the same amount of money. That is always a losing proposition.
-
Tyler Baidarz signed a 30 mil deal with the Chargers and Rams resigned Curl the safety. Pieces are starting to fall. Our signing will probably not be the first few days of FAgency. Maybe our own FAs.
-
Tyler lindenbaum is considered one of the best centers in the league. I've been looking at his stats 5 th ranked C by pff. 5 penalties and 2 sacks but 26 pressure's. Is that worth 20+ mil a year? Is he over hyped? We can get a 8-10 mil C with better stats.

I think Tremaine Edmunds is going to get cut soon

Polea is always full of surprises. Don't think it's Crosby though. What people are forgetting is we have to deal with a new contract for Wright. Before the fifth year starts for the RT. He could be clearing money for that. Your idea of trading JJ would get us something good. Top CBs seems to get traded a lot. Sauce and now McDuffie. In 2 days we could find out. -

I think cutting Edmunds rather than holding on to him for another week to look for a trade might mean we are clearing salary cap for something. -
As much as lots of fans want us to acquire the top players in the league, I think the bears will bargain shop free agents. I think Byard is a given to bring back, but the other safety may be a TJ Edwards type of signing. Same for S. Those two positions can find a lot of value in FAgency. I suspect we go after one (tier 2) edge or DT for around 9 to 10 mil. Poles could surprise us with another trade but IMO it's not a big money guy. If some of the older vets still playing may want to get on a SB contender that we will be. Those signing won't be until later in free agency. Mack, Cam Jordan. Poles has brought in TJ Edwards, Billings, D Jackson, Gardener-Johnson Zacchus all on cheap money that has made contributions. I suspect more of the same.

I think when the owner had a meeting with the brass at the NFL to present the nature of hiring minorities, he has a great case to argue with. Clearly a GM job is an upgrade over the assistant GM job. I am very hopeful that meeting paid off.

Hoping tomorrow bears get some good news. Comp picks get announced.
-
I agree I don’t want to give up two firsts.

I'm only going by what he said. He also stated the answer will likely be on the team. Doubt he meant moving Wright. I was also the one suggested we draft one high before I heard him speak. Theo could get better? , Kiran finally produces? We will find out in a few days what they are planning. Ozzy may not play this year but I still think they think he is their future LT.

No trade,oh well, we at least get the money. I expect a Demarco Jackson signing shortly. -

Tremaine has been cut. 15 more million added to cap. -
Jonathan Allen is being released with a lot of money in his pocket. Would he play for 2 years at 16 mil?
-
I'm not the expert in the room when it comes to center but we do have good options at a time when we need it. Does anyone think they might bring back Bates for a year while waiting for a rookie or even Newman gets ready? They valued Dalman because he was very smart to handle the mental part of the game. Find out who the smartest option is and we may find our center.
-
Trapilo was just starting to, but he is not quite a for sure LT answer. I don't see Braxton back and Theo is not long enough. They have to be eyeing LT especially after losing Dalman.
-
Its possible they like Connor. Poles likes Buffalo linemen. Its also possible Biadaz has an offer from the Bears and he is out visiting other teams to see his best situation.
-
As much as I would love and wanted to have Max Crosby, I feel the Bears would be better and smarter to keep their 2 firsts and a player. Rumor is a team or two has called with that offer today and Dallas has shifted its attention to Hendrickson. Too rich for Jerry. It is possible the Bears are one of those teams that made the call but why pass on cheap 4 yr production at another key position that is in need now and more so in 2027 : DT Peter Woods (3T) DT Kayden McDonald (1T) or LT -Kadeyn Proctor/Monroe Feeling LT has to be the top target. Roushar can work magic, so maybe there is a lower tiered prospect he sees but if one of these two are there it has to be priority imo. Trapilo may recover and return to form for 2027, but you cannot risk that with Caleb. Peter Woods name has occasionally dropped in mocks, like his 2025 stats. Let him learn the ropes under Jarrett and we have a long term 3T answer. Kayden McDonald - his stout presence would be a multiplier for the rest of the run D while also giving a plus push in pass D. Then 2027, the draft is much stronger and deeper at Edge. Dayo can come off the books for 15mil savings, and we will know what Booker will be stud/rotation. Rumor mentioned this morning on 670 was Tremaine Edmunds to Giants for Kayvon Thibodeux who has 1 yr left.

Actually I was the one that mentioned he has had 8 in his career. That's a red flag for me. Parsons had an injury when he was traded and ended up not finishing the year. The biggest reason I don't think we are getting him is the two 1st round picks. I don't think Poles will do that.
-
I think they end up with Connor McGovern at center. If they were going to sign Baidarz, they would have already signed him. Tyler would be nice but way to much money. Connor only had 1 sack and 11 pressures. Very good at pass blocking.
-
Someone here keeps saying he’s had a bunch of knee surgeries. I actually don’t know his history but at a mínimum needing one surgery last year qualifies as a reason IMO.
-
The same Oline coach who told them I know what playing LT looks like in the NFL and didn’t see that from any of them?
