Well Im no fan of either of them. I think Gabriel is terrible and almost always wrong, but we agree on Lambert. He is a click farming whore LOL He posts EVERYTHING even when it is contradictory to the last thing he posted. I dont even think you can say Lambert has any beliefs or a point of view. In the last two weeks before the draft he had articles saying we were definitely taking 15 different players LOL
  3. I just want to make clear that I am in no way associated with people talking about trading Moore! That guy is a player! I also think we all agree that Kmet will not be traded right away, so he will get a chance to show who he can be on the field, and also how Johnson wants to use him. In Detroit, only one TE really got targets, the other was an inline blocking TE. I know that Johnson has said he wont run the exact same offense here, and I took that to mean (before the draft!) that he could get the LaPorta routes from a slot WR. i thought maybe a guy like McMillan. Now that we have Loveland (AND Burden too!) we have ways to work the middle of the field, and so I see the role of TE2 in our offense as being an inline blocker. And so that brings me to think Kmet wont stick around too long. Not because he isnt good, but because Loveland is better as a receiving TE, and Kmet isnt really THAT good of a blocker. Its not hate for Kmet, I think hes a decent TE, but I think Loveland is just a lot better and will be a star in this league. I also think that we arent used to trading players who are good. Our roster has been so poor for so long that we dont have experience with roster turnover of good players the way they did it in New England for example back in the day. So for these reasons, i think Kmet will get traded before opening day next year. But i fully agree that Kmet will get a chance to show Johnson what he can do, and if he balls out, then my calculation will change. And with so many mouths to feed already in Moore, Odunze, Loveland and Burden, and what ive seen on film of Kmet so far, I wouldnt bet on Kmet sticking around? Also I expect a BIG year from Odunze. But this is VERY different from how I felt about Leno, Fields, Waldron and Flus. Those guys SUCK. Kmet does not suck. He's a decent middle of the pack NFL TE. I just dont think hes special, and we are getting to the point on this roster where decent isnt good enough. Someone else will be very happy to have Kmet, but no kids are going to buy his jersey. And again, all that is contingent on the status quo. If this lights a fire under Kmets butt and he shows us stuff I havent seen from him before, then of course all bets are off.
  4. Kmet is more than a blocking TE. The other TE in Detroit didnt get targets because he is a blocking TE. In 2023 LaPorta had 120 targets'/86 catches at 52 yds a game 10 TDs. catch rate. 71.2 % In 2023 Kmet had 90 targets/ 70 catches at 42 yds a game 6 TDs. Kmet had the best catch rate in the league. 81.1% 3 Top WRs and 2 Top TEs is a OCs dream.
  5. Last year Detriot gave up 33 sacks with the best line in the league. 35 to 40 is acceptable.

Agree. I’d say top ten in the NFL is the goal.
  7. If Ben Johnson prefers the Laporta type TE and Kmets role is TE 2 or blocking, then I agree with Phoenix that he will be traded sooner than later. But Johnson isn't going to do exactly what he did in Detroit and might find a way to implement both. With the personal they have, they can run so many formations that will defenses won't know how to defend
  8. Correct. Which is also why drafting Loveland was a bad move. Like I said before, like the player but hate the pick.
  9. Rumors are the Bears are working on extending Bagent so they don't outright lose him in FA.
  10. Right now I'd say Rattler is their starter. And I don't see Bagent going anywhere at this point. But do have a full QB room, so who knows.
  11. I wonder if they are interested, or want to go full tank mode. Bagent would win them some games. They also drafted Shough in the 2nd round.
  12. If they ever trade him, it will be because a bigger need rises and they need his cap value. Let's say the Bears go into 2026 needing 2 safeties and they miss out in the draft like they did on RBs. Kmet might be an asset that the Bears can trade for a good, vet S.

Its always nice to prepare for people to leave the year before. All Ss are out of contract next year. I think we are still in need of starters at other positions. I hope we are suprised by a few UDFAs making the roster. Elijah Hicks as been a valuable sub as a 7th round pick. Sanborn and Blackwell were a find. Next year we could resign some of our FA Ss or get some FAs or prioritize that position in the draft.
  14. Carr retiring today, seen all the main press posting it. Is it time to see what Bagent is worth?

Maybe since it was on barstools? He could be developed into the role Dennis Allen has said he wants Kyler Gordon to take. Having a backup that can step in and have little or no drop would be great. Or as Lucky said, maybe take Byards spot in a year. Signing a UDFA that can become a starter even better.

runs a 4.51 and is only an inch shorter and 2 lbs lighter than Kevin Byard
  17. I dont think the team is absoultely not looking to do that. Its pundits and some fans that have to keep stirring the pot. 5 weapons is better than 3.
  18. i completely agree. the brass ring is there for the taking with talent and coaching and we want to get cute and cut/trade some very good players for more draft picks? yikes!!

i hope it turns out. Its kinda of strange Lambert giving credit to Greg Gabriel, that have clashed many times.
  20. I agree, he's here till the end of his contract. How do you run an effective 12 set with a blocking TE and a Y. Kmet's off year was because of targets. He's a top 10 TE in the league. Just when we get a potenial offense why start eliminating assets. It doesnt make any sense.
  21. its a good argument, and it hinges on how good Kmet will be. I think we all agree he will get a chance to show what he can do, so if he is really a problem for defenses, and a multiplier he will get his chance to show it. But in no way am I on board with trading DJ Moore. THAT guy is a player. He wasnt so well behaved last year, but i think he hates losing. I'm OK with that. Just like Stevenson, they get a blank slate this year. Eberflus deserves the blame for their sins, these players get a new start. But i still think, based on my belief of what level Kmet really is, that he wont be around next year, or maybe at the trade deadline. But if he plays differently, or johnson puts him situations to succeed and he proves himself, then you are right we will probably keep him.
  22. They have tons of cap space and have a player who is still ascending. Having two good tight ends is a multiplier and creates unique match up dynamics for defenses. When you combine that with the wideout crew and a bright offensive mind - you can create match up problems all over the field. Why the heck should the Bears cut someone or trade them and get rid of that. Kmet and Loveland are so complimentary and if you go big you put Loveland out wide and destroy them and you can also run…you can also spread the field and have Loveland out there for size and than shrink and run or use Loveland as a match up. We finally have real unique skill sets all over the field and people want to trade two of them so we can go back to being mediocre at skill position level - screw that - Bears have massive cap space - pile up as much damn talent as possible.

Oregon Duck Safety, Tysheem Johnosn could be a gem. Oregons best defensive player undrafted due to size. Dennis Allen has turned small DBs into great players. https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-bears/former-exec-says-tysheem-johnson-was-outright-robbery-by-bears/
  24. yes, youre right. however, Kmet will never be able to do what Loveland does, so if Loveland gets hurt, Kmet cant really fill his role anyway? The best argument for Kmets role on this team, in my opinion, is the 2 TE sets.
  25. Today Ozzie was taken reps on the left side. So at least their thinking about putting him there. I also seen a podcast that was talking about Henderson being available and we took him at 39, would we still draft Burden at 41?
  26. I dont think you want him gone but after Loveland is up to speed, get rid of the contract. I think he will be used as part of the offensive plan and stay until his contract is up. 2027. You nevere know when an injury pops up, so lets say they do trade him and a couple games later Loveland gets hurt. Totally would screw up the offensive scheme. They arent going to have cap problems until Caleb is up for a contract . All of these contracts except for DJ end in 2027.
