Anything is possible. DJ would have to agree to it. I agree on the WR part for KC, especially considering Kelce's retirement. Kmet an option? Moore is the perfect WR for a bad team with a young QB, like TEN or LVR.
-
I am sure Saleh will bring in McDaniel as his OC, forming SF-Central. Makes too much sense. I bet that is what landed him the job over Nagy. Nagy has struggled to bring in other coaches. Fangio was already on the staff when Nagy took over, he then hired Pagano, then Desai. In Nagy's coaching tenure, the team never had the same OC/DC combo in back-to-back years: Helfrich/Fangio Helfrich/Pagano Lazor/Pagano Lazor/Desai

Nice. But couldn't we redo DJ and move some cap hit for KC this year? IMO, Mahommes needs a reliable receiver to work the middle, more than they need Jones. Don't forget the annual cap bump...
-
Not if they trade for Moore, they take on his cap hit, which would be $16.5M for them, which means they would swap Moore and Jones and be worse off than they are now. A cut or trade accelerates cap hits, while restructures lessens them pushing money into the future like you said. KC is only in a bind for 2026, so they can safely move $20-30M to 2027 with limited impact. They have to free up $62M or $70M in effective cap, that is almost 25% of the total cap. They can add also void years to help offset the spread of the bonuses. So Jones has a $44.8M cap hit this year with $35M in guarantees. Since the money is guaranteeed, they will have to pay it one way or another. So they can convert it all to a bonus which gets spread out over the remainder of his deal, 3 years. That would reduce his 2026 cap hit to around $30M (saving $15M). However, if they need even more relief than that, they can add a year or two in void years to thin out that bonus money over 5 years instead of 3, which would give him a cap hit of $26M for 2026, saving about $19M.

Crazy to add Sean McDermott to the list. https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/article/bills-fire-head-coach-sean-mcdermott-after-9-seasons-promote-gm-brandon-beane-142034495.html And Nagy left outside looking in with Titans snubbing him and his replacement in KC already hired back. https://arrowheadaddict.com/matt-nagy-just-lost-dream-nfl-job-kansas-city-chiefs-arent-saving-him-01kfdavvp2kv

Yes, but they also get 15 mil in relief. I don't see how they can play with his contract to get more relief than that. (Without putting them further in hell down the road). DJ would give them a needed receiver at a wash in price. 2027 gives them better relief.
-
KC's cap is screwed. I don't think they can trade Jones because him and Mahomes are basically the only two players that you can get cap relief from with a restructure. If they trade him, they immediately get a $30M dead money cap hit, which doesn't really help their situation. I have seen Simmons mentioned from TEN, but TEN has the most cap space, so moving him doesn't make much sense if it is strictly for cap purposes. There are several teams that fit the criteria who are in the need of cap relief and trading a player would provide that: Vikings, Cowboys, and Dolphins

Hopefully, Turner is one of those guys. Other than that, we have zero interior guys with an ounce of twitch. I proposed a trade with KC to send them DJ for Chris Jones, plus anything else they may reasonably need. Not sure about free agency, but the draft always has these guys. Poles has been crap at finding them though.

Don't really want to talk what-ifs or beat a dead horse, but this was 100% on DJ. He ran his route about 10 yards too vertical. If he runs the right route, it hit him in the hands at the 25 with no defender within 5 yards of him. This guy breaks it down perfectly. What it seems like to me is because DJ didn't get the ball on previous times this play was called, that he didn't think it was coming to him so he was just jogging it out.

Trades are definitely better. Here are the top FA Edge options: Adafe Oweh - 28, 7.5 sacks, 48.7% of snaps Trey Hendrickson - 32, 4 sacks, 26% of snaps Khalil Mack - 35, 5.5 sacks, 41.7% of snaps Joey Bosa - 31, 5 sacks, 57.2% of snaps Jacob Martin - 31, 5.5 sacks, 61.5% of snaps Jihad Ward - 32, 5 sacks, 66.7% of snaps Jaelan Phillips - 27, 5 sacks, 74.5% of snaps

Early on this season he said pass rush doesn’t come from the edge it comes up the middle. I’ll assume bigger DEs that can do both run support and compress the pocket so there is no QB escape path.

You add great content to this group always do a good job Adam. One thing I didn't like was your description of Billings - old fat and slow, that describes me. ( Joking ) Definitely Byard, defensive leader and durable. Brisker if signed on a one year prove it deal.( Can stay healthy as AZ suggested) If you bring these two back, you can draft a couple rookies and won't have to count on them right away. For DBs JJ and Gordon will be healthy next year. Stevenson ( I think one more year on contract) , Blackwell and Terrell Smith will be back. So Wright is optional if they think will get better. Also Zak Fraiser comes back but who knows how good he is. At LB, Edwards was just given a new contract last year but Edmunds being traded or cut will leave a spot opened. I think D Jackson will be resigned to take over for Edmunds ( cheaper) . Amen and Hyppolite are still on the roster. Got nothing out of Hyppolite but players are developed so maybe next year a lot better. Not sure why anyone would think DA is a question, I think he did very well considering all the injuries, no continuity. You add a pass rush and that makes his job a lot easier. Gardener -Johnson doesn't handle speed very well but is a physical player. Anyone think he can play SS? . Maybe him instead of Brisker? Just thinking out loud. The only DL I think may come back is Joe Tryon-S. On limited snaps he made some plays and was in NO when DA was there. Booker, Sweat Dayo and Turner, so if in a cheap deal for depth. Everyone wants Crosby but I think Symmons from Tennessee would be a great addition if we have to pay a big contract. I think we draft 2 DTs and one edge.
-
If correct, ten coaching available minus the 2 filled. That's crazy almost 1)3 the league turnover.
-
Are all these players the players DA wants for his style defense? Most were here with only a few added. I can see him having more input in this draft since it will be mainly a defensive draft. Anyone more familiar with his style? I read he likes big DEs, speed at LB, and tall corners. Was Hypoplite and Frazier influenced by DA? A lot coaches may come and go but I think DA is here for the long haul. He's had two HC jobs and failed, probably not going anywhere.
-
If Jaquan is willing to go short I could see both being back but right now I’m guessing just Byard.
-
Seems like it. Seems like Nagy might be looking for an OC job since Titans just went with Saleh.
-
I am seeing FB ads/posts saying he is the OC for the Chiefs. Officially, I cant believe it bc its FB. Wish he stuck it out here, but he has to take the promotion even if Reid calls the plays. Good luck EB, you made a difference with our backs.
-
His concussion injury was nearly as serious as they come. It took an immense amount of courage for him to get back on the field. It has impacted how he plays the game. I think even the rest of the league will look at him as a one year FA. however it shakes out this defense needs one more really good downhill player among the back 7. Kyle Gordon can be that guy on one side. Can add an impact LB or S will help to generate more negative plays.
-
Evidently some rumors that Bears might look at Scotty Montgomery from Lions to take over. Was Ben Johnson’s running backs coach and might be out with them getting a new OC. This past year was the WR coach for Lions.
-
Would have to get to #3. It would take possibly 2 firsts and a player. Pretty steep, but if he is Myles Garrett 2.0 might be worth it.
-
Yeah, Bain will be top 10 easy. We could always trade up.
-
Nagy was a strong contender for the Titans job but apparently they’re suddenly smitten with Robert Saleh. Doubtful Nagy won’t come out without getting some new gig. Bienemy tried to make a name for himself by going to the Commanders and after things didn’t work out there went to UCLA where he was their OC for a year. After flaming out there he came back to the NFL as a RB coach for the beloved.
-
Bain is a stud but I think he’s supposed to be like a top 10 pick.
-
Watching the pass rushers on Miami tonight makes me think one of them (Bain or Messidor) maybe should end up a Bear?
-
You ain’t kidding. I was thinking the same thing. Understand he went out for a concussion(?). I had just asked my wife why they hadn’t been using Kmet minutes before he caught that last minute TD. Think he had just caught a catch a little before that and converted(?). His less involvement concerns me with his longevity on the team.
