Right, getting him a year early should cost something like a 2nd. Maybe more. Starting QBs don't grow on trees, and if you're paying a 2nd, you think he's a starter. If teams feel he isn't worth it, then they can wait until next year. If they believe in him, then they should pay.
-
I think the problem is I can’t see someone offering a 2nd..if they did he is gone. A 3rd is probably what it would take but Bears may prefer to wait a year in that case. If it happens I think a 3rd with a conditional pick in the following year - if he hits it big maybe it escalates to a 2nd and if it doesn’t hit goes as low as an additional 5th or 6th.

Let them bid, and with 2 years to go on his deal, that's not gonna be cheap.

https://www.profootballrumors.com/2026/02/bears-qb-tyson-bagent-drawing-interest#ref=home this appears to be more than one team with interest. Makes sense given the weak QB draft.
-
I watched Poles’ and Ben Johnson’s press conferences at the combine. Very clear he’s getting phone calls about players. Very clear that DJ is absolutely available. Might be Kmet too as he said he’s going to do what he feels gets the best roster overall. Stay tuned.
-
I thought the same, haha. I'd hate to see a player with a year of knowledge in BJs system go without anyone capable behind Caleb. They could resign Case Keenum. They need to groom someone this year as a #3, then shop Bagent.
-
Now that is how you drive up the trade value. Could you find a better promo for a backup QB than Ben Johnson saying that.
-
Ryan Poles confirmed the Bears have received calls on Bagent today. Ben Johnson also asked today about trade possibilities of Tyson Bagent. "He said noooo, not Tyson. I like Tyson."
-
Poles has prices set on his team. When Jaylon wanted his extension he also demanded a trade. Poles said it would take 2 firsts if JJ can find a team willing to pay. I dont think DJ Moore will cost a ton, I figure what a #2 WR or 1B would cost. Pickens cost a 3rd and 5th the following year. Keenan Allen was our 4th that current year.

From past history, Poles lets no information escape Halas Hall. I think when asked about DJ staying, his tone seemed to change that tells me if someone makes a good offer he would take that. I think it all comes down to value.
-
I think so.
-
If we don't get the picks, it will effectively end the Rooney Rule.
-
Cunningham even said today that his understanding is that the Bears deserve the picks.
-
Smoke season just started too, but there are quite a few edges.
-
Something else from that presser, Poles said that EDGE is deeper than DT in this draft, while we've been hearing opposite from experts. Kinda sounds like price negotiations...
-
Poles was asked today about the 2- 3rds that the Bears were supposed to get for losing Ian Cunningham. He has been in talks with the NFL about it. If the Bears do not get them, I feel they need to put that rule to rest if the league is going to bend qualifications. They must fear the Bears will be a dynasty and that is not written in their script.
-
Absolutely. Combine + Pro days will shift this. I do remember Darnell Wright on the radar pretty early.
-
Since DA will be here for a long time, I think they only draft scheme fit players in the draft. My first 4 picks I want 2 DTs, a DE and OT. Let them figure out who best fits and give value at that spot. I think they bring in Ss and LBers in free agency. I also think he acquires more picks for other positions.

Bears To Indiana? If They Go, Eat $h!t and CHOKE On it
Stinger226 replied to Lucky Luciano's topic in Bearstalk
Can someone direct me to the actual offer Indiana is proposing for the bears. I'm not jumping to conclusions on what that is until I see it. What the bears are asking Illinois is to improve the infrastructure around the stadium and give them a break on the insane tax bill proposed. Arlington racetrack was paying 20 million a year in taxes. The bears tore the structure down and they were told that had to pay 200 mil a year on raw land. They asked for it to stay the same until the structure was complete and then for a fair assessment. With the added revenue that will be brought in, it more than justfly the bonds that would be put out to pay for the infrastructure. The reduction in the tax bill is future income for the state and not taken money from their coffers. The Arlington project would already be underway if the government didn't try to make a cash cow on raw land while under construction. The bears then decided to leverage a better deal by looking at Indiana. Pro Football is a business and the bears are acting like a business. I'm going to still be a bear's fan where ever it ends up. -

I wont argue the offsetting sales and entertainment taxes collected, it sounds like you have a political point of view on it, so I'll just respect you and not argue that. I'm no tax expert, that's for sure. One thing I DO know is that out of all of professional sports, the team that pays the most property taxes for their stadium each year is the LA Rams, and they pay $9 Million annually. Under current Illinois law, the Bears would be expected to pay $100 to $200 Million in property taxes each year from the stadium they plan to build in Arlington Heights. That's insane, and obviously not reasonable. If the Bears have to move to avoid that, I think people can understand it. However, I don't believe that is the final word at all. I think Illinois will lower that to something more reasonable in line with all the other sports stadiums around the country. I still expect the Bears to end up in Arlington Heights, but they won't be paying $100 Million or even $20 Million a year in property taxes. -
It would be a big win to get one of those 3 DTs. I think they surprise us with an edge rusher and take a guy like Harold Perkins Jr LSU. He is similiar size to Micah Parson. Played edge his freshman year and tore it up, then moved to off ball LB.

You just made the moderators laugh with your butthurt plea. "please tell mongo to leave me alone, because I'm red assed 😭😭". 🤣🤣😂😂😂 Governor Braun did an interview with one of your networks. Look it up and you'll see how this benefits Indiana. I'm the meantime, go throw a hissy fit back the asylum. Hoosier Daddy...🤪 Sexy! -
Bears To Indiana? If They Go, Eat $h!t and CHOKE On it

site moderators: i am not going to continue baiting the village idiot after this post, but some things need to be said for those who get their information on how the world works by staring at their cell phone and what it tells them is reality whether it is based on facts and/or common sense or not. 1. for any living being with a brain living in indiana... the state politicians are proposing spending 2-5 BILLION dollars, or a good portion thereof, on a stadium for a billion dollar NFL franchise that is too cheap to build their own unless the state gives them tax breaks no average tax payer would get. hmmmm.... so how does that work? what goes with this building the stadium? it's not free money that indiana is printing, it's what the people/taxpayers of indiana will have to pay for... building not just the actual stadium structure cost, but buy the land (which isn't included supposedly in the 2-5 billion dollar cost), new roads, maintenance costs after the fact, transportation restructure such as airports or train to get to and from the stadium, security such as police and fire protection and probably much, much more. just with these costs alone, you could easily add another billion or two to the taxpayers burden. obviously the mccaskey family won't be paying for it with higher taxes so that leaves your average business and home owner in your state to foot the bills they won't pay. so where does this money come from? normal state expenditures for schools, road maintenance and infrastructure repair. rising costs of security costs for fire and police, normal costs to run an entire state. just how much in the black is indiana's coffers? i wonder how much more the average indiana taxpayer has to pay for this over the next 10-15 years? who is paying the bill? where is that money coming from? how much will this increase your tax burden? you are running your mouth about (and i quote) "Indiana is using it as an investment". show me your hard facts in dollars and cents how this investment works. show me the real money that is gained by your state. it should be not hard to find as you can use your colts, SOMEWHAT, as a springboard for this so called investment (although indianapolis is the LARGEST city in the state and it's capital so what is hammond contributing to the total influx of state money)? explain it in black and white what the actual cost is per citizen and put it on a voters ballot then let's see how happy the citizens are with this proposal. so who is really making the money besides the mccaskey family? the large corporations and realestate developers in indiana. the construction companies building all the crap involved including building roads and so on. the realestate investors selling the lands for the stadium and land used for all the upgrading of the infrastructure. the mega rich hotel magnets and the actual politions who for sure will be getting kickbacks and campaign contributions from the mega rich/corporations. all this at the expense of indiana taxpayers who some don't seem smart enough to pour piss out of their own boots. also, when this nfl franchise decides the stadium is old and they need another new one who pays for that if they even STAY in that state? "It's not the McCaskeys this time." are you freaking kidding? this BILLION dollar franchise owned by a mega rich family has not even paid to build ONE single stadium in the entire time the NFL has been in existence!!! they have used the state of illinois and the city of chicago along with renting out an existing structure from bill wriggley to create a cheap venue to play in all the while increasing their brand and the value of their team. yet they are so cheap they don't want to pay NORMAL tax structures to build one in illinois to help their actual fan base that created their entire value. 2. poor you. cry me a freaking river. the state and the city you hate so much (and the people who live there) built this freakin franchise. i don't remember indiana being involved in anything other that a place for another piece of garbage franchise to screw it's original citizens and fans by giving them a cheap place to move to.
