John Harbaugh & Kevin Stefanski will be the hot picks for vacant HC positions.

You could be correct. I also think a CB is in play somewhere in the draft. Maybe a DT and someone like Turner that play both DE and DT. DA is big on speed and size. We'll see how this plays out.

Hightower just sitting in the corner with a grin... talk bears has shifted to someone else. I think the Bears brass know they didnt care about the D as much as putting all the resources around Caleb. If you dont develop him nothing else really matters. Caleb has shown he can be the franchise, so they can shift the focus on building a defense. With Sweat/Booker, I wouldn't be surprised if back to back DTs are taken early. A Safety and LB with speed have to be in the mix as well and of course a DE. DEs: Sweat, Dayo, Booker, Turner (in mix). Since we have 2 getting paid and 2 young, I can see a later round prospect taken if a guy not there round 1.

you werent wrong - it was a smart prediction. none of us has an actual crystal ball, so a prediction like this is just a good bet, and I think you were right last year, it was a good bet. and it could happen for him this year, but sooner or later that guy is getting a GM job, and I think he's been offered a few already. so if you were off about your bet, it was just that he wouldnt take the arizona job, not that he didnt have the opportunity.

Poles listened to Cunninghams advice. Seems to be a smart guy but he now has a new voice in his ear, BJ. Good luck to Ian but it should have little effect going forward. Poles may have had one of the best drafts ever last year. Still has some room to look better. A lot of pundits didn't like the first two picks with other holes to fill but both has special written all over them. BJ plays a two back system but I think Monangai would be a 1200 yard back if given 250 carries a year. If Ian leaves we will have 4 top 100 draft picks, a 4 th and 5th, 2 7ths. . Another good draft and we could have extended success with Caleb and BJ.

Well, I predicted last year that Cunningham would leave us for another team as their GM, and I was proved wrong. Now I see teams are already requesting interviews with him. I trust Poles has a replacement for him. Will Poles finally figure out how to hit gold in the 3rd round with the two extra 3rd rounders we will receive as compensation? Here is a small quote from SI.com:

Good info about home teams playing against division opponents, 9-0 since 2021:

I like a hard schedule. Makes you ready for the playoffs.
-
sure, but I dont imagine that DJ will come down from $28.5M to $16M or similar? Maybe Im wrong about that, but if I was DJ I wouldnt, especially with the writing ont he wall that his targets will be diminished as they have been? It seems like it has trade written all over it. But again, not because DJ isnt good, because he IS good, but thats just waaay too much money for his production. If we can get him entirely off our books, and get some value in return, i think thats the right move.
-
I'm with you. On a side note: we were supposed to get an easier schedule, but ended playing the hardest on the NFL. Goes to show how quickly things can change.

With Rushing TDs, over 200 for the group in two years with over 10 games missed. Nix and Williams have not missed a game.

That's wild because he has an odd gaite. He doesn't look like he is moving that fast. I always get a kick out of it because he looks like a guy running to the bathroom after eating too much chili.
-
An exaggeration on my part. More like an All-Pro level for himself. Switching to the Will seemed to make him more useful. However, for how big and fast he is, he doesn't make enough plays at or behind the LOS.

This is a next gen stat where this is the players with the most 20+ mph runs in the NFL this year. ) Keaton Mitchell (RB - 7) 2) Jonathan Taylor (RB - 6) 3) Jahmyr Gibbs (RB - 6) 4) Caleb Williams (QB - 5) 5) Derrick Henry (RB - 5) 6) Saquon Barkley (RB - 5) 7) Breece Hall (RB - 5) 😎 De'Von Achane (RB - 5) 9) Bijan Robinson (RB - 5) The only QB on the list is 4th in the league. Unbelievable

Edmunds is often out of position in coverage, and offensive coordinators have been attacking him personally for the past month. He is a physical specimen, but he is not a good LB. I thought when they moved him to WLB that would help, and it seemed to for a minute, but the guy never gets his drop right, and they complete a ton of balls on him. hes not playing well, and hes sure not playing $16M well. The unit looks better with Demarco Jackson out there honestly.

Yeah, Im not saying it's stupid or anything to think we should keep DJ. I have a lot of respect for him as a player. We can disagree maybe on HOW good he is, but I don't think that's really the question anyway. I think he's very good. Take D'Andre Swift for example. At $4M a year, hes a no brainer to keep and feature. At $8M its a fair price given his recent production and renewed energy. At $16M a year hes a clear cut or trade candidate. That's not a slight on him - he's the same player the whole time, it's just a matter of price. I personally just don't think DJ is worth $28M a year. If someone trades for him, they'll only pay $16M a year (we eat the rest) and that's a much more reasonable price for his production in my opinion. I could go on and say he quits on routes, sometimes has terrible body language etc etc but I really dont want to disparage him, because all in all, I think hes a pretty damned good receiver. I'm not thinking we will trade him because I'm mad at him or he "sucks" - that's not it at all. It's just the price tag is too high for what you get. And this becomes especially true when you look at our cap situation, and the clear assets needed to stock the defense. If you traded DJ for a 3rd rounder even, you'd add $16.5M to the free agency spend, and a 3rd round pick. That could be three starters. Or it could help pay for a stud DE, and the 3rd might help you move up a little in the first round to draft the DE's understudy. Just that would help a lot. Or think of it this way. Imagine DJ is a free agent, but we have the rest of our roster and WRs. If we have $31M in cap space, with this current defense and offense, would you spend $28.5M of it on DJ Moore? I like DJ! He's just too expensive in my opinion?

Drafts are a process, some develop quickly and others take 2 to 3 yrs. If we go by this years standard, our coaches can develop players. I think Newman, Turner, even Hyppolite can become starters. The DB is the only one that has a big question mark. Zak Fraiser It will end up being one of our best drafts of all time.
-
Coming with first in the division gets us more winning teams. We have the worst schedule last year in winning percentage for teams as a bad team. I'll take what being better gives us.
-
Everyone has different opinions on players if we all agreed on everything this would be a boring discussion board. DJ has not had a good year compared to past performances but when you have many elite weapons, no one has had a great year. That puts him in the position to be odd man out. I personally think they keep him one more year and won't be here in 27. Look at SF as an example, lots of people hurt and they still keep winning because they have good depth. I think just as we get a top 10 offense, they are not going to dismantle it. DJ will have more value as an in season trade prospect as other teams have injury problems. This gives us the ability to have both Rome and Burden a chance to grow their roles. If anyone was paying attention both have been injured this year. Injuries happen every year and BJ is not taking away assets ( DJ and Kmet) that could stunt the growth of Caleb in which should be his breakout year. I think there will be a big shift on defense that could see a lot of new faces. I think Edmunds is gone but a few starters will also leave as we rebuild a defense thru DAs scheme. They will redo some contracts and cut and trade a few players but on defense. The draft will be a big contribution to what we do. This draft could all be on defense this year. These are what I project the bears will do. They could surprise me and go after a Crosby type but I don't think we are one player away from a great defense. Some contracts will prohibit us from getting rid of them this year but big roster change are coming in 27.

Well said. I wouldnt fight to the death for DA, but if it was my call I'd keep him, for all the reasons you just listed.
-
Making plays yes but the point about him doing something special. Nah we haven’t seen that. This is Chicago we know what a great LB looks like on the field.
