    That I agree with.

Damn, that really sucks. I thought he would be a sleeper last year. Then he sits out with the personal issue. I again had hopes he would shine this year. Obviously, unresolved. I would love to know just what caused this mess.

Nobody is saying he sucks. He just sucked last year. For all of his God given speed, he looked like he had cement shoes. Hopefully his brain catches up with his talent...
  5. I am very cynical that Braxton Jones will ever be able to handle the bull rush and provide pass protection --BUT-- like any player if they show us something we havent seen before of course Ill be glad to see it. I will be thrilled is Jones or Wills kills it and takes the position with excellence. Im just not betting on it. But I will be very happy to be wrong about that.

Not sure why everyone thinks Hippolyte sucks . Not all rookies develop at the same pace. I have no idea whether he is any good or not, but I dont think their dropping him until they see if he can contribute after a year of seasoning.
  7. Today
  8. Respectfully disagree. BJ likes his OT's bigger than Flus did. Braxton was not fully recovered and playing at 295. He's allegedly 315 and yoked now. He just turned 27, so his best football could be ahead of him. I'm excited to see the competition and hopefully gain some really good depth in the process.

    ugh! youre right
  10. maybe. I think our floor is Benedet. Its hard to have faith in Wills until he shows something, and i think we already know Braxton's ceiling.

LT is still a question mark, but a healthier Braxton is better than an injured one.

Frazier thing sucks for everyone. The Bears traded Pick #109 and drafted Hyppolite and Frazier. Got literally zero out of that pick. BUF got a productive DL with that pick btw.
  13. Yesterday
  14. I mean that I thought that Trapilo was looking pretty good once he got comfortable. Certainly we are not worse than we were opening day last year, I agree.
  15. I would say we're in the same place we were last year accept with a healthy Braxton and a vet addition of Wills. If they werent comfortable with their assets they would have found a way to bring a guy in. Having said they, they still could add there if it isnt working out. Also I saw an article in the Tribune and they listed Kiran Amegadjie as a OG.
  16. I just started a Camp Notes thread and stated that transaction. However someone wants to spread that information. Also Bradbury got a restructure on his contract saving 1 mil in salary.

Heard today Zah Fraizer was let go. Apparently whatever jacked him up last year never materialized into a dedication to playing in the NFL. Also they restructured Brabbury's contract getting 1 mil in reduction but gave him 1 more mil in guaranteed money.
  18. The Bears have waived Zah Fraizer CB. Missed 2025 season due to personal reasons. He was a 5th round pick in 2025 draft.

How have we gotten worse at LT when a hobbled Braxton Jones was our starter last year? That was followed by UDFA Benedet. Finally a rookie moved over from RT tried it out and looked okay.
  20. A few games that ive seen with Kraft, he is dangerous. Not sure if they know how to use him properly, but if he was here he'd be welcome.
  21. adam replied to adam's topic in Bearstalk
For GB, they are betting on Parsons health on defense, and the health of Watson and Kraft on offense. I don't know why Kraft is getting so much love. He had 2 great games last year, but those were the 2 best games of career, and the only two games over 90 yards receiving. So to me, those were outliers, not some new trend. Those games plus 2 games where he had a TD with only 2 receptions really warped his stats per game and per reception. However, for his career, he averages 37 yds per game, which is 8 yards more than Cole Kmet.
  22. The Ravens usually draft BPA and did that with their first two picks. Hard to say if they would have taken the top C in the third but Slaughter and Jones went in the second round. Teams always lay out the draft with guesses at where players get drafted and taking Jones in the second may have been one round to soon, but as you said they went after the guy they wanted. I suspect Jacas was on their radar and NE jumped two slots ahead of them . They then drafted a guy they wanted.
  23. You bring up the most important point as people evaluate the roster. In his second year Caleb should be a star. It was important for BJ to add weapons and replace Dalman. This will uplift players on the offense. LT still has questions but we had them last year and it turned out well. They feel secure in having 4 assets to fill that hole at LT and I trust them . We had the #1 OL by some metrics. Adding players on defense that fit DAs scheme and people being healthier has to make the defense better by design. As fans we are not use to success so a lot of fans always look at future success with apprehension. I am looking as the BJ- Poles combo with trust in a small sample size. This is noticeably different than our past experiences. As Adam stated, I dont see the upgrade in the division which is a plus for us.
  24. I agree with all this, except there is still a hole at LT where we've certainly gotten worse, and we may not have gotten worse at DE, but we were pretty bad and i dunno if we got better? Assuming the LT isnt a sieve, we have a Superbowl ready offense this year I believe. And while the pass rush is still questionable, the defense should be better than it was last year. And an answer at LT and/or DE may still be coming.
  25. yes to all of that. I dunno if Jones will be ready to start the season, but all those stars certainly do seem to align. And if a player isnt going to be there when you draft again, and you want him, then it isnt a reach to take him when you can.
  26. This is too funny. With Declan Doyle in Baltimore presumably to setup some form of Ben Johnson's offense it's pretty clear what type of player they want at Center. Of course the whole Linderbaum saga, Iowa Hawkeyes (hate 'em but respect 'em), Logan Jones being his replacement seems all too perfect. Prior to the draft Baltimore did nothing to shore up the position and kudos to Poles because he wasn't waiting. As soon as Dalman retired, a mere 3 days later, he took out an insurance policy to protect his star QB via trade for Bradbury. Again, getting ahead of the Ravens. Draft day comes along and at 57 the Bears just grab their guy. Poles knew exactly who the Ravens and Declan were targeting. The internet world goes nuts because Jones is a 3rd Rd value at best and we suck or something like that. Poles and Johnson don't care because in their eyes what is the value in protecting your QB? Plus the value of having the right Center to execute the type of running plays that challenge a defense sideline to sideline. Declan must be wondering what he got himself into. Lamar Jackson must be wondering if he can get more money for having to play behind some no-name center. Now Lamar Jackson's strengths as a QB do not line up with Caleb's so I doubt Declan will be heavily mimicking all of Ben's plays. I think the passing game will be more simplified with less read options. Still, there has to be some component where he wanted a mobile center to help stretch the field in the running game. Plus at a minimum you need a guy who can hold up in pass pro for a few seconds because pressure right up the middle is a killer for any QB. https://www.si.com/nfl/ravens/onsi/one-trade-the-baltimore-ravens-should-still-be-pushing-after-the-draft-01kqfpkykg3r "Bradbury would be a great fit in the outside zone scheme the Ravens are expected to heavily implement under new offensive coordinator Declan Doyle and run game coordinator Dwayne Ledford."
  27. In the meantime, we are the only team beginning year two of the BJ and Caleb show...
  28. "Moore's targets are going to Burden, Odunze, Loveland, Thomas, Raymond, and Roush. So not all of Moore has to be replaced by a rookie" Add Kmet, Walker, Swift and Monigai and his receptions split out even moore. If they Bears do run moore 12 and 13 personal, will they notice.
