  1. Past hour
  2. I think the Ben Johnson effect will take some time but I have always been a Poles supporter but lost that yesterday. He's not going anywhere so all my criticism will be lost. Caleb played better this week than last but the rest of the roster has been exposed.
  3. Today
  4. I think we need to dwell on the positive after a butt whipping like this . Rome Odunze and Swift was effective. That's all I got. I stayed away from here yesterday and social media because I felt sick enough w/o the extra chatter.
  5. Adam , how do you put players on IR, if we actually have those spots? I dont remember if we do in this league or not.
  6. We are not seeing the performance from Caleb that would be expected of an elite QB. He has missed passes when under no pressure, either them being too low, or not well timed on timed routes in short to intermediate routes, or under or overthrown on deep routes. Goff was played well yesterday and Caleb didn’t. I agree he was let down by the team in the 3 phases, but at least I want to see him make the passes that most QBs are expected to make. I am also pissed at players who are unavailable for games due to muscle injuries. Those players and the fitness department have been poor leading into the season. I expect players to go down in the middle or towards the end of the season, but not now, unless it is an injury suffered like a joint sprain etc. I’m especially annoyed at Jaylon Johnson missing games. I think we can all agree, the strength of our roster doesn’t allow us to not have a best players on the pitch. I think it’s going to be a hard season again, and I thought we would at least be competitive this year, which doesn’t look likely.
  7. Watching ATL handle MIN with such ease tonight makes last week's loss even more embarrassing. McCarthy stinks. ATL got pressure on him all game and ran the hell out of the ball. Penix didn't even play well, and they still won on the road.
  8. Atlanta invested in two pass rushers and gave McCarthy trouble all game. Since Montez Sweat was left somewhere in 2023, this might be something Poles needs to consider. Was hoping Sweat, Dayo, Booker, and Co would have been enough but obviously not. Bears need Booker to return
  9. Too bad the Bears just extended him. We get to live with his decisions for a few more years.
  10. By the way - all that said - I’m not selling on the offense or BJ. I am really down on Poles though (have been a skeptic a while) and I expect this team will get better. Hopefully this was rock bottom for the year but rock bottom might be an 0-4 start if they lose to the Raiders - really hoping this was rock bottom and we see a bounce back here and than real improvement on a consistent basis post bye week.
  11. I thought Caleb has made progress this season so far. Penalties are still too much and Caleb still has plenty of development but this game was more on the penalties, the defense fading (and not having Kyler and JJ is a big deal - plus Smith out for the year - that is 3 of their 4 best cbs all gone). Plus pass rush - Sweat another empty game. Way too much money for no production. Sweat and Edmund’s just don’t make plays to go with their paychecks. JJ has - you could see his defense and it faded once he went out hurt…sucks cause I’m sure he’s out a while given same injury he missed most of preseason with.
  12. This is true - he has not been a good gm. No probowlers drafted, top 4 picks this year have basically done nothing so far. He got the coach and made a good trade - that is about all I can give him credit for at this point.
  13. Yesterday
  14. Poles is the worst GM of my lifetime—or at least since I became cognizant of what I was watching as a kid around the early 2000's. I know a lot of people would say Phil Emery, but Emery at least gave us 3 pro-bowl players in the draft (Long, Fuller, Jeffery). Two of them became All-Pro's. He also traded for Brandon Marshall and broke the cycle of WR futility. His misses were catastrophically bad, but he didn't have as much time as Poles did to do as much damage to the franchise. He also didn't ruin a quarterback. Poles has quite literally been bad at everything, from drafting to public speaking. His free agent signings are almost always terrible. His trades are even worse. Hasn't drafted a single pro-bowler in 4 years on the job. 0 playoff appearances. 2 double digit losing streaks.
  15. Welp, that was fun while it lasted. Didn't think I would need to start this thread this early, but it is hard to see much light at the end of the tunnel with the brutal schedule. As of this writing, the Bears are one of 7 teams at 0-2, with 2-3 more likely by the end of the week. So the entire top 10 may be winless after two weeks. What sucks for the Bears is the reverse order SOS, so not only do you get punished in season with the toughest schedule, that also equates to the worst draft pick. The league should move to strength of victory as the tie-breaker, and only use SOS for 0-17 teams. That would be a much more accurate indication of a team's true strength. 1. NO 0-2 (.407 SOS) 2. NYJ 0-2 3. MIA 0-2 4. TEN 0-2 5. CLE 0-2 6. NYG 0-2 7. CHI 0-2 (.600 SOS) 8. CAR 0-1 9. ATL 0-1 10. KC 0-1 11. HOU 0-1 (.654 SOS)
  16. I get the general cynicism, but the timing of this statement is strange considering the QB was the least of their problems today. He's honestly been fine through 2 games. I am seeing incremental progress. First game looked rough until I saw Kurt Warner's breakdown. This week, I think he improved until the game got away from them.
  17. Let’s face it. Bears picked the wrong QB again. The cycle will never end.
  18. This is 100 percent true. Poles has sucked in the draft. I hope that statement is proven wrong.
  19. The Paper Champs do not have an oline or RBs to run Ben Johnsons offense. I do not know what to say about the defense, but did any of the top 5 defenders play up to their pay day? I would start trading them. Kyler was supposed to be an MVP type player and MIA. Jaylon hinting he's no longer the top paid CB, yet does he even call into work to be a no show? Get ready for the boo birds to show up next week. It will be a sad day.
  20. Just like in Week 1, bad call and game goes off the rails. This one just happened right before the half. The Bears could've went into halftime with momentum, DET having the clock run out on them, only down 7. Instead, the bogus call gives the Lions an extra play for an easy TD. Don't know why Johnson didn't use a timeout there to give the defense more time. DET ran another play, so technically the refs can't go back a play to get the other play correct. Then in doing so they still got it wrong. Unbelievable sequence. Then they were down 14 and the entire game plan changes. Basically game over from there.

    Poles has to go

This is not a result of Ben Johnson, Caleb Williams, or anyone else but Ryan Poles. You can't continually lose on trades and under draft year after year. 2025 Draft picks in the first 4 rounds have literally contributed zero to this team in 2 weeks, and the Bears had 5 picks in the first 4 rounds. In 2024, he drafted Williams #1 and Odunze #9, which were a wash. Most had Williams going #1 and Odunze at 8. He did pass on Brock Bowers and Thomas Jr to go with Odunze. Also passed on every other QB for Williams. Right now, even after a great game for Odunze, it looks like those both were the wrong picks compared to players picked after them. We still have to give them until the end of this year, but it's like the entire team is behind the sticks. Don't forget he also drafted Kiran Amegadjie in the 3rd, who barely made the roster, then Taylor in the 4th. WTF was he thinking? In 2023, Darnell Wright in the 1st over Jalen Carter. Still the wrong decision when DT was as big of a need. Then Dexter and Stevenson in the 2nd. If he went with Carter, he could've went OL in the 2nd. Pickens in the 3rd, then Roschon and Tyler Scott in the 4th. In his first draft, in 2022, he didn't have a 1st, but 2x 2nds, and went with a Nickelback and a Safety, followed by Velus Jones in the 3rd. So from 2022 - 2024, he has 13 picks in the first 4 rounds and has Williams, Odunze, and Wright to show for it. The Loveland and Burden picks should've been OL, then DB and TE instead of Trapilo and Turner. That is 17 picks in the first 4 rounds of the last 4 drafts, and only 3 are regular contributors, with Odunze really the only one with star potential. Every week more and more it looks like Caleb is going to be average at best.
  22. Changing a culture is the hardest thing to do. That has shown up in both games this season. I believe with this stress it will happen just don’t know when.
  23. This is on Poles, you can't contiunally lose team value on trades and under draft in the first 4 rounds. That was on display today. Loveland had 1 target, Burden had 2, and one was at the knees and he couldn't bring it in, yet the DET 3rd string TE is making that catch on the next drive. Pitiful. Like it was mentioned, 2nd rounders inactive in Week 2. 4th round on a punter. Stevenson is not an NFL starter. Pickens already off the team. It goes on and on and on.
  24. Cowboys are going to put up 50 on this defense next week, too. Season's on the line.
  25. Didn’t watch. Over 50pts given up. Pathetic. The Bears are cursed.
  26. Embarrassing that the Lions to throw on 4th down up 45 points. Shame the Bears have no pride. It’s been a hard day for me with the Bears and Man Utd my beloved teams and both, at best, are inept.
  27. Guess my Sundays will be cleared up. Watching this team is hazardous to my mental health
