I thought of this today watching Brandon Cooks talk about him on GMFB. The owner pretty much punked him out. He's made plays, but it looks like his mentality isn't there yet. Cooks said he's a great young man that is still learning how to be a professional. Maybe year three and life lessons will do the trick...

This past week, when Mike Tomlin resigned from being head coach of the Steelers, some professional race hustler and national commentator accused the Steelers of being a racist organization. So, um, the owners are the Rooneys, famous for creating the Rooney rule? So definitely not racist. In fact all these teams want to win and make money more than they care about ANYTHING else, especially race. I think the some people in this national discussion have good motives, and some have bad ones. But all in all the idea that the NFL is racist is laughable. Certainly there are racist people in this world, but I wonder if creating special categories for people based on race doesnt do more to feed the race baiters such as the commentator I mentioned than it does to solve anything with good people of all races. I feel the same about DEI. Racism sucks. Race baiters suck. I dont think the NFL is racist, but I think because of their willingness to bow to some of these demands, it just invites more accusations of racism by those who arent concerned with fairness, but just want to make political points. And then there is the question of how Black is someone? If they have one Black parent is that enough? What about a single Black grandparent? People like Hitler and the KKK were asking those same questions. This is a farce. But all that said, if some stupidity gets us two 3rd round picks, then Ill take them.

Maybe he’s just not as good as the others? Maybe not the best at relaying his ideas, his plans, the future of prospective organizations? Who knows? From his first year as a scout in 2013 to being even considered for GM jobs seems like a fairly meteoric rise. These are billions of dollars being discussed with NFL organizations. Do you really believe they care more about the racial percentage of someone in a GM role when 75% of their players are black and there are billions of dollars on the line?

I don’t how the specifics would work, but given the disparity in contracts, maybe the Bears should call Buffalo and talk to them about a DJ Moore for Keon Coleman trade. That would get DJ’s primary money off the Bears, remove an issue (for those who believe it to be), and do the same for the Bills. I could see how both sides may view this as win-win. Thoughts on this?

There is far too much over analysis of the DJ Moore situation focused on one or two plays. Everyone saw the pouty guy last year. New coaches come in and the first thing they tell him is to clean up his body language and effort. Every player was told to improve effort. Luther Burden too. Big plays, toughness, good hands… there are plenty of positives DJ brings to our team. Players may take routes off when it’s not their turn. I don’t like that. What I despise is when you make a mistake or see the mistake on the throw and you quit hustling and just let the safety get the INT uncontested. Personally I don’t have that give up gene in me and I’d have been diving on top of the DB to break up the pass. Personal quibbles aside this is purely a roster construction decision for me. The WR group will be better with DJ next year but if another option presents itself where the Bears overall are better without him then do it.

X2. 16 Mil for the D, plus a pick. Cut Edmunds to get money and get better without another transaction.(Sarcasm for the sensitive)

how bout YOU doing the work you are relying on as FACT. how bout YOU back up your mouth with facts and compare what your OPINIONS regard as the ultimate truth. i personally don't give a shite. you bring up these statements as facts like there is no other player on our roster to be used for comparrison who does this or this is the reason that his tenure in chicago is no big loss. do YOUR job and do an accurate assessment of our receiving corp and player comparisons. if he is the only player on our entire roster who takes plays off so be it. just show me or shut the F up.

How bout you do the damn work. I watched the games and remember. I'm not a a DJ hater, nor is he a whipping boy. (Terrible term). His value, at this point, is better served by helping with the the cap and the defense. His heroic catches, minus the one he could have had, can be replaced. That can't be said for defensive help. I saw him walk off the field during a play last year when Caleb was looking for help. (Same side of field). I saw multiple plays of shitty body language.(Number one to rookie. Come in rookie). He also doesn't really see the open spots in the throwing lane very well. (As seen in multiple games). There's your number one. Back it up instead of running your keyboard with a new thread. Don't call us out for NOT doing the homework when you haven't done it.(Goes for Stinger too. Sorry brother)

ok, i have made my opinions on keeping moore in past threads. i don't have the time or resources to go through a 3 year span of his games in chicago but if this is the argument that he quits on plays or is too expensive then someone needs to do the 'receivers' comparison to realistically back up your opinions or they are just a knee jerk reaction. 1. MONEY: this is nearly a mute point with me. good franchises find ways to keep their systems working under the cap every single year. added to this is on every good roster there is at least one high paid receiver. the other 'replacement' receivers are ALL on rookie contracts. our QB is still on his rookie contract. our RB's are low cap hits. so is the savings really that drastic that we replace him? with what? the cap balance is in place for the next 1-2 years. this is how it's done. 2. HEALTH: as i stated in the past, he is tougher than nails. can you guess how many games he has missed since his time in chicago? "0" games missed in THREE YEARS. in his entire career there are only TWO games he has not played in. those were his second and third year in carolina. that makes him a CONSISTENT weapon EVERY game for a qb to count on. he has been battered and bruised and still comes out and plays to a high degree. back injuries, which if anyone knows about them, is no small deal. groin injuries that he was hospitalized after the game in washington, knee injuries plus in my opinion possible concussion from the head slams twice in a row and probably a lot more i didn't list. every one of these would contribute to onfield problems and endurance. so yea, he may take some plays off that supposedly aren't coming to him. i wonder why with all the injuries i listed above? if he screwed up that particular play so be it. a learning experience or just a result of injury conserving himself for a play designed in his direction. now for all you stat monsters out there.... give me the printout of the replacement receivers game logs. we are basically talking about dunze and burden correct? none other come to mind. odunze: missed FIVE GAMES in his 2nd season. foot injury. burden: missed TWO regular season games and limited in some others. concussion, ankle injury, quad injury. have ANY of these receivers proven they can play an entire season yet let alone at a high level? potential? yea, but not proven in the real world. 3. PRODUCTION: face it, he is a clutch receiver when the chips are down. he has good+ hands. can get open on a regular basis. he is a very good WR blocker. he can be used as a RB on sweeps. in other words he can do everything you hope a WR can do and does it well. is he perfect? no. find me ANY WR in the history of the NFL that is perfect every play, every game, every season of their career. to keep him for 1-2 years more while the other receivers and qb are on rookie contracts shouldn't even be a chore to figure out. be fair, go through the game films. did these other players EVER take plays off or slow down on routes where the ball wasn't regulated in their wheelhouse? let me know how those film studies turn out then we can talk turkey. please post your results of indepth analysis of our replacements consistant, never take a play off, results.

First off, no one is using anyone as a whipping boy - thats when you unfairly blame someone. This correct analysis of DJ Moore is fair and deserved. Did you see what JT OSullivan called that play? "F--- You effort" was what he called DJ's lack of caring. When you use someone as a whipping boy that means you have some psychological issue: that youre a bully. So again, noticing DJs faults is not a matter of the person noticing them being mean, or unfair or psychologically deficient. It's because DJ has taken a lot of plays off. Hes been lazy and not reliable. Secondly, GMs around the league see the tape. They dont need posters on this site to tell them what is true about DJ, so the idea that we all need to pretend hes not flawed so its easier to trade him is nuts. its just another way to try to stop people saying anything negative. This is feeling very Justin Fields all over again. Here on a Bears discussion board it really is OK to say one of the players isnt giving a consistent effort. It's not traitorous. Its not a sign of a psychological deficiency. It's just an opinion, widely held by many so called experts too. But most of all, it's on the film. And as for his cap number - this trade scenario was easy to see the moment we drafted Luther Burden. We were talking about this in July - remember? I remember saying that DJ, Kmet and Swift were on the bubble. And so they are. It wasnt dark magic, or a crystal ball. It wasnt someone saying they are smarter than everyone or being mean. It's just there in the contracts and salary cap numbers. Now I gotta admit, Swift has played well. Im not saying that because suddenly Im a psychological lover. Its just because his performance on tape is what it is. Some day he will be replaced, but i think he played himself back on the roster - doing things id really not seen from him before. But Kmet? He didnt play up to his cap number, and Dj surely hasnt either. This isnt about being nice or mean. We have to get past these simplistic and childish ways of looking at player evaluations. The tape and the contracts can and will decide the plan going forward. And if you wanted a culture and accountability - then here's our chance to stand by those words. And anyway, even if we dont, Ben Johnson isnt gonna play games. He knows what time it is.

To be honest I just don't remember all the quit plays people talk about. I will go threw all the tape and check it out. I think what happens is he quits on a route and then people laber someone a quitter and then apply the tag when it's an isolated play or two. I am willing to say I'm wrong with my perception. And like you said, the second year of a potential great offense, I don't see them making any big changes. Defense is a definite a make over.

I don’t know if you’re being tongue-in-cheek, or maybe even sarcastic, but I’m backing you up either way. i don’t recall him quitting on more than two total plays that have been brought up. That’s counting the Rans play. Furthermore, I second the team support being paramount. Bears above any player. But I’m of the belief that the bears should not tinker with offensive weapons this offseason after such a tremendous offensive swing this year. Fixing the D should be priorities 1-3.

Here's a mock off-season that picks a LT with our first pick. I don't agree with a lot of his moves especially moving up in the draft but he does keep track of the Cap space overall. Also he uses PFF to much in his evaluations. Something I think a lot of people lose track of when suggesting trades and cuts.
