Official Draft Day Thread: Round 1 @ 7PM Central
He has tools. I’m guessing my Utah LT won’t be there. I think bears might move up a few. Simpson to Rams was a surprise.

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
That would surprise me. I see good depth at DL with our 1st pick and in the 2nd.

Proctor went a bit higher than I expected.

The Giants grabbed another DE - that means one of Burns / Thibodeaux is on the block. Burns would be quite interesting. 28 coming off a 16.5 sack season.

A 3 and a 5 to move back 3 spots. I hope Poles will get an offer as good as that.

Time to trade for Thibideaux...

Interesting - was a wideout projected to go that early? I wonder if that means 1 or 2 more go in round 1 than previously thought...that wouldn't be a bad thing necessarily for the Bears...

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
If we stick to drafting defense, we will have a good chance of drafting 4 day-one contributors. They were that bad. It will be difficult to find many day-one contributors on offense. They were that good!

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
There are good players in every draft even if overall they dont rate 2026 high. I trust our brass to find at least 4 players to contribute the first year.

This is why I have the Bears not investing in the dline and instead oline, secondary and a wideout. I think more value in the draft there and the team needs to be patient. On the line I think guys are getting overvalued and people are squinting and hoping. In general I do think there is a lot of quality in this depth, but not a ton of blue chippers - but also the quality on the line after the first efw drops off a lot (and than there are a lot of solid guys - but with limited upside).

Final Mock Drafts...
I prefer this draft. Faulk at 20 years old has a high ceiling but low floor. To me a boom or bust pick. If Messidor is gone, Parker is my next choice. I dont think Ponds will be picked that high. He is quite short.

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
I think they trade back but if Messidor or Theineman are there I think they draft them. If they trade back into the 30s they can still draft an edge Jacas , Dennis-Sutton, or Young. I dont think they take a OT in the first. 3 of the 4 Ts that are probably available are RTs which will take time to develop. The other is Proctor who doesnt play well in the wide zone but solid everywhere else. They could take any number of players but I am just predicting what I think they do. Trade up- not likely stay put and grab Their Guy whoever that may be. Or trade back and get extra picks.

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
From what I've read. From what I've seen on the limited amount of tape I have reviewed. This is a piss poor draft class. You have a dozen players with the WOW factor. The rest have many question marks in their evaluation. We are discussing potential edge players in the 1st and 2nd rounds who are being graded at least a round higher than they would be in a much deeper draft. If the opportunity is presented, I wouldn't blame Poles for trading for 2026 picks for 2027 picks. Unless you have a team roster full of other teams' leftovers, I don't see many of these players being day-one contributors.

At 25, there was will be questions. If he's there and the Bears pass, then they dont see him being a quality starter in time. Ay least I feel confident with our o-line coach. All the edge players have something wrong, the safety doesnt fit the rock and roll type, the DL are all NT types.

Time to make your prediction: What position / player do Bears grab with their 1st pick?
The more I've thought about it, Mesidor is on my don't draft list. I just can't buy into a 25 year old and really understand our level of intelligence and ability to effectively scout what was beccause he's had that much more time for his development. I don't see anything explosive around his measurables - etc. He was a dominant college player though.

The board is going to dictate so much at #25, so I think the top 3 available will be McNeil-Warren-S, McDonald-DL, and Lomu-OT that they could target. Mesidor would be awesome, but I don't think he will be there at #25, and age is a slight concern, so Faulk would be the consolation prize at Edge there.

Final Mock Drafts...
I definitely debated on whether to pick Christan Miller or a DB with that second 2nd rounder. There were plenty available. In the end, I can't stay away from the big boys...

Final Mock Drafts...
Yeah, should have researched it. I actually deleted my post. He's 21. It was a post on "X" should have known it was bad info.

Final Mock Drafts...
Pretty sure he's 21. There's some disagreement on the internet as to whether was born in 2004 or 2005, but sounds like 2004 is most likely. Was born in September so will be closer to 22 when the season starts FWIW.

All I've read on him does not scream the "violence and aggression" that seems to be the offseason mantra. If that's your focus, Proctor and maybe Iheanachor seem like the better fits. But, again, I don't know how to evaluate "violence and aggression" from an OT other than you kind of know it when you see it. Wright was definitely that way.

I’d prefer Parker over Faulk. Faulk reminds me of Dexter with his lack of creativity in pass rush. He’s a slower version of Dayo. I’m no expert but I think he’s a better fit in 3-4 system as a DE if he adds a little weight.

I’ve warmed up to the possibility of Kayden Proctor at 25 as well. He moves better than I expected but still has trouble adjusting that big body to dynamic athletes. He can’t change direction very well on run blocks when he pulls. But that power is enticing. He and Lomu are opposites.

There is a video out there of Lomu vs Romelo Height Lomu looses often against the speed. I don’t know when that game was. Last year? This year? Early in the season or late? Don’t know if Lomu was fighting thru any injury. Regardless it gives me reason to think he might not be the right pick IF we’re counting on him for this season.

Final Mock Drafts...
Would be fine with this if we swapped one of the DTs out for a CB. Mine, which I posted elsewhere, with one change swapping out Logan Jones for Sam Hecht after seeing him say just a day or two ago that he did a visit with Chicago, which I don't think was reported elsewhere and was maybe one of those visits they didn't want to publicize and he was maybe not supposed to share(?). 1) TJ Parker, DE, Clemson 2) D'Angelo Ponds, CB, Indiana *Trade #60 for a high 3rd and high 5th 3a) Bud Clark, S, TCU 3b) Sam Hecht, C, Kansas State 4) Ja'Kobi Lane, WR, USC 5) Eli Heidenreich, WR/RB, Navy 7a) Aaron Graves, DT, Iowa 7b) Cole Wisniewski, S, Texas Tech

I would be pretty happy with your top 2. Those are two guys I like - I don't love Banks at 25 (but love him in 2nd round) and on Faulk I am guessing he won't be there but I think he's going to be a good player...maybe can develop into a Montez type of guy. I don't see him as elite - but a very good end is not a bad thing. If we got Faulk at 25 I would be perfectly content.
