  2. I think you may be right. But no sane GM would trade three first rounders for an edge player who is 30 years old. Maybe there is an insane GM out there, maybe several I dunno. But as much as I want the guy, Im not paying that for him. Meanwhile the Browns are stuck, because he isnt speaking to them. Hopefully that pressure lowers the price?

If you take Roushar at his word that these visits are to clear up some details on issues with prospects and not necessarily firming up profiles on the guys you like. Zion needs to account for his DUI but I'd expect they already did that at either Senior Bowl or Combine. Then you have McDonald with no character or medical issues I'm aware of. Seems like lying season is in full swing.
  4. The Cleveland plan is making sense now. They requested the NFL make a rule change to allow teams to trade draft picks up to 5 years. Currently it is limited to 3 years (i.e. 2026, 27, 28). Cleveland already has two first round picks this year. It appears if they trade Garrett they would like to get first round picks in 27,28, and 29 so they'd have four years in a row with 2 first round picks. That makes sense given that this year is not a good year for finding a QB so they don't necessarily want 3 first round picks this year. I'd say Garrett is about to get traded and the Browns have committed to a full tear down and rebuild. Garrett is one of the best defensive players in history but three first round picks is giving away a lot of future draft leverage especially if they want those picks all the way out to 2029. No NFL GM has a clue what is roster will look like in 4 seasons or if they'll even have a job.

  6. As an aside, saw that he’s going to be out at least the first four games of the season. Up from three.

The Bears need to get Day 1 starters out of their first 3 picks. 3 picks in the top 60. Depending on the position group, you should be able to get a top 3 guy at 3 different positions.

There are no obvious blue chip players to be had at pick 25. Obviously, you can find players and coach them up. Hall of Famers have come from every round, but we've gone through these numbers before. There is no sure fire blue chip pass rusher that's gonna be available for us there.
  9. Im just saying. In football, you need a QB, a pass rush, and some protection for the QB. Obviously every position is important, but those three things are the core.
  10. I see McDonald and Zion Young have been scheduled for a visit. I don't think McDonald fits the speedy DT but it only depends on what the bears think.

Does anyone recognize a stud player that will probably be there at 25? Now in a few years a few draft picks will be better under our coaching. I would say maybe Woods or Theinaman can be but neither will probably be there. Does anyone think Messidor is going to be one? I think dropping 5 to 10 spots back may be our best option.
  12. Lots of things have to go right to get to the SB. We were one play away from the National conference championship game with a bad defense. This would increase our odds.
  13. I hope we never trade a pick more than 2 years out. I think some teams will really screw themselves. I think if you get Myles Garrett on this team, youre instantly one of the 3 teams (or so) favorited to win the Superbowl.
  14. I'm with you thinking Safety. Since the draft is for long term, getting a guy who starts as rotational is fine if they develop into a blue chip player especially at a premium position like DE.

Safety choice: Say Dillion Thieneman and Emmanuel McNeil-Warren are both there at 25. Which guy fits Dennis Allen's D and would make the Bears D better long term. I think the EMW hype has dropped, but he has more violence as a SS and that part of his game makes me think Bears. But his flame has dimmed and I think he will be a high 2nd round guy and may require moving down.

I couldn’t answer that without knowing the player or players available at 25.
  17. What position if drafted at 25 would have the first year dynamic impact? DT, DE, S, LB? At 25 I'm not sure that player is there. Any DEs will be rotational the first year. Same for DT but if Peter Woods is available, he may make an impactful impact. A McDonald or Hunter will only play rushing snaps. TJ Parker, Zion, Jacas may be able to get 5 - 6 sacks as a rotational player? Since we need a starting S , if the get a Dillion, Warren or AJ Hauesy may have the biggest contribution because they will probably start. At LB we have our starters in place but is there one in the second or third that can be a stud day 1? I don't think so.

  19. I hope they leave it at 3 yrs. Pace would have had us still without picks haha. I would rather keep the picks and find our own Max Crosby, but a Myles Garrett hunting for a superbowl ring would be fun. He would have an elevated play the closer he gets.
  20. some teams are going to dig themselves deep holes, and there will be pick inflation for trades as a result too.
  21. Yeah, I was thinking this years first, Tyson Bagent and next years 2nd (pick 64 lol). Id go as high as you say here, but I think they might take less in the situation theyre in?
  22. I'm in. They can have 2 first round picks in 2026 and 2027 and Tyson Bagent.
  23. Poles has to explore it. Two firsts is as far as they should go. The owners are going to vote on how many future picks can be traded soon. It was 3 years, they want to go to 5. I dont like it, like a auto loan over 5 years.
  24. Aaron Donald was a pressure guy, but teams knew you could scheme him bc of his size and run at him. Its hard to find the right guy. Zion Young has a build/size you want but doesnt have the "it" factor like Bain for pressure/sacks. I would like the Bears to find a guy that teams need to scheme against since we have Dayo who has the size opposote of Sweat.
  25. well considering they arent even speaking, and Garrett doesnt want to be there, it might be less.
  26. Yup. If we don't have that guy there, I can really see us trading back. The sweet spot of this draft is 25 through 100
  27. You would think that CLE's defense would be at least a top 10 unit once with Garrett, yet since he entered the league in 2017, the highest the defense finished in scoring was 13th, twice, and ironically, the only two times they have been in the top 20. So without him, are they literally the worst defense in the league every year?
  28. It's always easy to look at drafts after the fact. I preferred OL but Carter was intriguing. Picking at 25 it's a whole different perspective. You have to identify a player.
