LAR @ CHI, Divisional Round, JAN 17/18th Game Thread

Rams haven't played good football, as of late. They barely beat a 7-9 Panthers team. Their defense stinks. The Bears should be able to move the ball well against them. However, those two receivers make them as scary an offense as there is in football. Nacua could break the all time single game yardage record, and I wouldn't be surprised. The Bears have nobody who can cover him. The road to a Superbowl for Chicago would likely mean they'd have to beat the Rams and Seahawks. Not getting my hopes up for this one, but let's hope for a snowstorm. -
Bears beat the Eagles in the regular season, and the Eagles beat the Rams.

Yeah. I think of it like this: Some players are consistently mediocre. They never make amazing plays, and they dont make too many mistakes. Caleb is already elite on some throws, doing things no one else can do. But he is inconsistent on the more vanilla stuff. So which is the guy you want? I mean you can train ANY QB to get better at the regular things. You cant teach the elite qualities he already has. And as Caleb spends more time of COURSE hes gonna get better. I figure him for a top 5 QB next year. This offseason (which was only July) was teaching him footwork and how to play under center. Look where he's come! Next offseason is gonna be reading, identifying and defeating defenses in rhythm at a higher level. He's already shown a tremendous improvement in playing in rhythm for the first half of the season. So add being a functional regular QB to his skill set, and he is elite. Win a couple Superbowls and hes a Hall of Famer. Its not hard to see at all. Right now, he's not even good, but hes great, elite and special. And he is a winner. But he needs to get to good in the middle of the game, just running the regular offense.

Ugh, SF couldn't just go away and give the Bears a better shot at getting to the NFC Championship game. Beating the Rams is going to be a monumental challenge. -
I had two different posts about Braxton and the GM thing. I see where you got conflated.

I want the worst coach. Pick your poison, I think Eagles. - Yesterday

Damn, you're right (no surprise), I really screwed the pooch on that one (no surprise).

Here we go. Well traveled, warm weather Rams playing at Soldier Field. This is going to be a shootout.

That is the best part, this is all still a work in progress, but the things Caleb needs to work on are correctable; he has the things you can't teach. Next year, in Year 2 of the offense is when Goff took off, and I would expect the same thing from Caleb. If they can get a few impact players on defense, this will be a perennial playoff team with real Super Bowl aspirations every year.

You are looking at the Rams offense, who only allowed 23 sacks. The Bears allowed 24. The Rams defense had 47 sacks, tied for 7th. Eagles had 42, tied for 12th. The Bears had 35. The Rams defense also had the 4th highest QB Pressure rate (26.3%), Eagles at 23.6% (13th). Rams defense also had 16 INT, Eagles only had 12.

That's amazing, what a game to be at. That 4th and 8 to Rome was bonkers. The entire season riding on one, play, with pressure in his face, rolling left, throws a perfect pass 35 yards to Odunze who is circled by defenders.

Main thread: nothing but bandwagon content from me This thread: truth The fact is, Caleb had numerous receivers wide open last night that he didn’t see. Could be they were the third or fourth progression. But some definitely weren’t. I fear he is over confident (better than under) and ignores the simple 5yd wins. He also still has a tendency to rocket in the simple ones. When it works it’s great. When it doesn’t, he leaves meat on the bone. Finally, sometimes he just needs to run. Maybe 4-5 times last night he had an opportunity to just take off, but he delayed enough to limit running room. Having said all that, I’ll probably buy his jersey this week and name my next dog Caleb. 🐻⬇️

Gents. I was there. First game in three years. Electric from the start. The stadium was louder than I can ever recall. We stood every.single.play. It actually felt like the stadium was swaying towards the end. Impossible to be anything but ecstatic for this game. Probably a top 5 moment in my life. Maybe higher, but marriage and three kids have to be in the top five. But maybe not the top four. 😆I didn’t sleep until well after 2am, and I had to get on the L at about 5am. Posting this from the Seattle airport. Say what you want about Caleb, for the flaws he has, and it’s clear he has a few, but he also has what can’t be bottled. What can’t be explained. What can’t be taught. He’s just got the clutch gene, inexplainable instincts, and incredible physical talents. He is the Bears QB until he retires or something catastrophic happens. This game meant that much. Check the hospital today and the next week: guaranteed there are a lot of babies being named Caleb. Boy or girl. What a game. FGB.🐻⬇️

I just checked, and it appears the Rams' defense has accomplished something rather amazing in 2025: fewer sacks than the Bears. 😉
