  1. Past hour
  2. The Bears need someone who can take the top off the defense. Right now safeties can really crowd the box and make intermediate passes and rushing that much more difficult because they don't have to worry about anyone running by them.
  3. Considering no other options I’ll reiterate that promoting Al Harris as DC would be the best option IMHO. On the one hand, despite me not being a fan, I agree (if only a little) to keep Allen as he was dealt a difficult hand in available players to him. The Bears last draft weighed heavily on the offense and almost everyone will agree this year will focus more on defense. I suspect the team will keep him for no other reason than his ‘reputation’ is what it is . On the second hand, I worry that Harris will leave for a coordinator job (possibly GB) and I fear we’ll end up regretting that.
  4. The Bears still haven't played a complete game all season. A few close ones, but all 3 units, playing close to their maximum potential. If both teams play like that, the Bears win. Without Parsons, GB has yet to win a game. When Parsons plays, they allow 19 pts a game, without him, over 28. With Parsons, they held opponents to 21 or under 9 times. I know there is so much talk about GB's offense and Love, but it seems that GB's winning is more tied to their defense than their offense.
  5. Yeah, I brought up that fact about the 1986 Jets a few days ago in reference to the Packers losing streak. Historically, the Packers are in a worse position than the Bears entering this game, but for reasons I mentioned above, the situations feel differently. Jordan Love hasn't played a full game in a month. On the other side, the Bears defense has had almost everybody back from injury for several games now and have fallen apart. Their issues feel more existential to me, but maybe that's just my cynicism. The optimistic side is that maybe Jordan Love is rusty coming back, and maybe the Bears broke them a little on defense after their collapse. I'm not completely bought in to that argument, but I understand it when you watched how they played against Baltimore.
  6. They say, "the best ability is availability". That being said, that does not apply to DJ. He has been generally non productive commensurate to his availability. He's either injured or clearly lost a step. With the emergence or Burden and Walker, I believe he is gone if someone wants him. Rome, Burden and Walker make a good threesome. I would even keep OZ and Duvernay if the price is right.
  7. Hopefully next year we are saying even nicer things about this past year's draft and also talking nicely about ascending players from the '26 draft - especially on the defensive side. But hopefully Trapillo and Shemar become names we talk about even more (and positively) in '26 while Loveland and Burden continue to shine. Monagai I think is what he is (and that is a good thing) but his ceiling is more limited.
  8. The secondary is also very bad. I think it is important to know what is going on with JJ, Gordon and Stevenson. Those 3 have the traits to be above average players, with JJ being a blue chipper. Stevenson has not been on the field much despite fact that Wright and CJGJ have been getting torched (and don't have the foot speed to keep up with players in the roles being asked). JJ just has no speed right now - no idea if that is because of the injury and he needs an off-season to get right (he's still very young) or if there is something else there. Gordon - well - he has a history of soft tissue, when he plays he's very good, but you clearly can't trust his availability. Brisker and Byard don't have a lot of speed either - so when you combine that with JJ (injured or not the same post-groin injury), Wright, CJGJ, and McCloud...that is a very slow and poor secondary. Combine that with an interior d that struggles to get consistent penetration and that makes for a really really tough job for any D. The ends aren't much better - but Booker and Sweat are solid players and Booker appears to be ascending. Difference makers - no (or not yet) but solid. Interior is just not good and shows poor discipline. But when you add all of those together - that makes is real hard for any DC to do much more than try to figure out a bend but not break type of D. I don't think this is how DA wants to call it, but he's so limited in what he can do. They have a lot of work to overhaul the unit, but it can be done. I'm find sticking with DA as well - but wouldn't bat an eye if they did go a different direction, but I think the failures are not on the DC.
  9. My hope is that the Bears take a serious look in the mirror at themselves. Both offense and defense deserve an equal share of the blame. Offense can't go 3 scoreless quarters and then expect to filp the switch in the 4th and come from behind that's not a sustainable formula. The defense can't allow oposing offenses to do what ever they want all game. The Bears came out flat. I mentioned to my wife that Detroit looks like the team fighting for a 2 seed, and we looked like the team that had been eliminated and had nothing to play for. I know Detroit had extra motivation to basically treat this like their Super Bowl to stick it to Ben Johnson. The players should have anticipated their intensity and matched it. Did the players think we'd just show up and win? GB will also come in and lay it on the line. Will we come in and match or exceed their intensity? We have to start fast, and controll the clock. We do not want to be chasing points in this one. We can't fix the personel on our D this season but we can improve on the "want to" and "effort". I saw a lot of laziness on D vs Detroit and SF. Can't do the big things right if you can't even do the little things right.
  10. Today
  11. The Bears lost on the last play of the game in their last two games. They have basically been in playoff mode for the last month, while GB hasn't won in that same period. Playoff teams that lose the regular-season finale are 22-5 (.815) in home playoff openers since 2011. Recent teams to lose 4+ games to end the regular season: PIT 2024 - lost in Wild Card, on the road, 28-14 to BAL DET 1999 - lost in Wild Card, on the road, 27-13, to WSH both were rematches as well. GB would be the first team in NFL history to lose 4 straight games in the regular season, then win a playoff game on the road. The Jets won a game in 1986 after losing 5 straight, but they played at home to win in the WC round.
  12. I'm not going to lose any sleep if they made a change at DC, but I would lean towards keeping Allen for another season. They need to make some significant changes to their front 7. There's only so many things a DC can do without a pass rush. Their LB'ers are too slow, and their best blitzing DB has been out most of the season. They don't have enough talent to be a great defense. In saying that, I also don't think Allen has done himself any favors this year. They've had to rely way too much on turnovers to get off the field, which we know is not a sustainable model. The reason I lean towards keeping him, though, is because I know he's been really good before with the Saints, and I also know that if the defense returns to form soon, he's in no danger of getting a head coaching job again. That was one of the main reasons I was as hyped as I was about his hiring in the first place.
  13. It's unfortunate now that both teams come in to the game on a downswing instead of the Bears being the team that looks like it's peaking at the right time. They negated any positive momentum/vibes/psychological advantage they may have had after last night. The difference is the Packers have had time to rest up and let the stink wear off from that last game against the Ravens while the Bears come into the matchup on short rest immediately after one of their worst performances of the season. The Packers were also playing with their backup QB's for the most part, which probably makes it easier to not get too demoralized. I think the Bears have to be panicking right now about their defense. Dennis Allen has no answers for anything. The Packers defense is vulnerable, but they're well coached and only surrendered 9 points before the onside kick late in the 4th quarter of the previous game. If the Bears are going to win, they're going to have to start faster and dominate the time of possession in ways their opponents have done to them as of late.
  14. Jonathan Gannon was really good as a DC, never worked out as a HC. With him now available, do you consider bringing someone like him on in 2026, just keep DA, or promote from within?

    Top 4 Receivers

Our three rookies, Loveland, Burden, and Monangai, contributed big time even after having to wait a few games to get significant reps/targets. If all three avoid the sophomore slump and continue to progress, we struck gold in the draft.
  16. I find it funny that people are talking about momentum with the Bears losing 2 games in a row, yet the Packers have lost 4 straight, and their last win was against the Bears on 12/7.
  17. The Bears first 5 drives were Punt, Punt, Downs, Punt, INT. In the same 5 for DET, they got a TD and 2x FGs. The offense had the ball with 2:11 left with the ball at the 26, used 16 seconds and gave the ball right back to DET at their 37. That was the ball game right there. They could've at least burnt the clock down to not give DET any time to do anything, but 16 seconds, not a single running play? The Bears had all their timeouts and the 2 minute warning. There was no reason to pass there, get it under the 1:30, then play the clock game.
  18. all the time our offense was on the bench could have been scoring opportunities for us and not them. while 19 points sounds reasonable, and is, it's the riding time and the stupid play calls by their coach. add one freaky intto that also. add this to the equation... opponents moving the ball at will definitely will alter our offensive play calls during the game. there is no way that does not enter the game plan.

    Top 4 Receivers

Swift finished 12th in rushing, Monangai 24th.
  20. adam

    Top 4 Receivers

Loveland was 45th in the NFL in receiving yards, but the Bears had 4 receivers in the top 54.
  21. adam

    Colston Loveland

The LaPorta comp is pretty wild if you use LaPorta's 2nd year: Laporta 83 targets - Loveland 82 Laporta 60 receptions - Loveland 58 Laporta 726 Yards - Loveland 713 Laporta 12.1 Y/R - Loveland 12.3 Laporta 7 TD - Loveland 6 both playing in 16 games Laporta's rookie year is not really comparable because he had 120 targets that season.
  22. That qualifies for a good year with progress.
  23. Caleb finishes 7th in Passing Yards, 6th in Passing TDs, 16th in QBR. Year over Year, he went from a 43.3 QBR to a 58.3 QBR, QB Rating from 87.8 to 90.1, Pass TDs from 20 to 27, Y/A from 6.3 to 6.9, and Sacks dropped from 68 to 24. The only blemish is the Comp% dropping from 62.5% to 58.1%, which is as much early season accuracy issues as it was receiver drops.
  24. If you only give up one TD in a game and total 19 points, not sure they take the blame for this game.
  25. I think you may be onto something. There is something to be said about durability esp in the NFL. And he has shown that given how much he’s making. And really how many times have we seen him standing open? I’d concede to the idea that if he had some high trade value and you could get some valuable commodity (player or pick) you’d almost have to take it in order to improve the defense.
  26. not sure what johnson's problem is. if injured and will come back healthy next year 'maybe' a keeper. if not seriously injured he is the top of the list for a trade or cut. he looks pathetic out there. right now he could be replaced by macloud and that is saying a whole lot. i know everyone wants moore traded etc..... to me he is one of the keepers. if nothing else he is tough as nails and plays which i can't say for the rest of our receiving squad. think of the games missed by every receiver but him. during an entire season that adds up. he is earning every dollar he makes. that said, i think he is nursing some injuries and that cheap shot by the packers surely didn't help. i rate kmet in the same category as moore. can take a licking and keeps on ticking. reliable starter.
  27. yea, they did lose it. nearly double time of possession means your offense is sitting on the sidelines while the other team just moves down the field at will. one punt? during the entire game will rarely ever give you an opportunity to win. there is not one player on this defense that is not tradeable or couldn't be cut.
