Bears come in as underdogs. Kind of crazy considering the Packers have yet to score more than 22 pts. 22 in Week 1, 20, 14, and 17 this week against the lowly Bucs. Just comparing how the Bears and Packers have looked against common opponents, the Bears should win. Health is going to be the biggest issue. Caleb, and now looks like Monangi (thumb), Swift (knee) will have to be monitored. Early on, I am taking the Bears in a close one.

We will schedule the draft for the last week before the regular season kickoff (AUG 31st to SEP 7th). This guy has exceeded my expectations tenfold. Not only does he seem like an awesome leader and locker room presence, he is balling on the field too. If anyone would've told me he would be a top 10 WR in the NFL thru 3 weeks and the Bears leading receiver, I would've called them crazy. He has a 90.5% catch rate (19/21) which is the highest catch rate in the NFL this season with players that have 20+ targets. The next closest is Coker at 80.8%. Year 2 QB - QBR Tracker Penix - 83.7 QBR - 298 yds, 1 TD, 1 sack, and 21 rushing yards. 319 Total Yards. Lost. Daniels - 55.1 QBR - 233 yds, 1 TD, 3 sacks, and 68 rushing yards. 301 Total Yards. Won. Maye - 39.3 QBR - 287 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 4 sacks, and 11 rushing yards. 298 Total Yards. Lost. Nix - 19.2 QBR - 176 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT, 1 sack, and 18 rushing yards + 1 fumble lost. 194 Total Yards. The trade deadline is November 10th. Ideas and rumors are already beginning. I believe we will be a player somehow. Maybe Bagent to a team, in contention, with a QB issue. Perhaps a new talent for the D. Maybe Braxton, if he comes back healthy. (His timeline may be iffy) Bring it!

At 2-1, and going into a game at home against NYJ, the Bears should be 3-1 going to GB next Saturday. If they can squeeze out a win there and go to 4-1, it feels like they can go on crazy run. This is the remaining schedule through the bye: WK 6 - @ ATL 1-2 WK 7 - vs NE 1-2 WK 8 - @ SEA 2-1 WK 9 - vs TB 0-3 WK 10 - vs NO 1-2 WK 11 - BYE The SEA game feels like the only one that is a truly tough matchup, but they just lost to WAS with Mariota and barely beat the terrible Patriots. So I even feel optimistic about that game. So 8-1 is actually realistic at the bye. They may not get there, but it is not completely crazy to think they can.

I am surprised the Bears only got a 5th for him. Feels like Poles got fleeced by his understudy. Dexter was a former 2nd round pick, and was only 24 years old. The Falcons added a player they were going to cut anyway.

Most were not expecting him back until December or January, but this was an interesting post in early October: With a Week 10 bye, it would be amazing if he could get back after the bye against NO in Week 11 on November 22nd. That is close enough to December from the original estimate, and the way Trapilo has returned early, Bryant would be a massive boost.

Huge news - way sooner than expected. Hopefully the momentum with Oz continues - he’s got a month of practices before season starts - even if he begins the year coming off the bench this is a huge step forward!

Bagent or Keenum against Fangio doesn't sound fun. If the Bears can't get the run game going, it will be another long day. Barkley is questionable after a stinger, Goedert is out, so if Barkley can't go, the main threat is Devonta Smith. PHI is a hard team to gauge right now. They are 2-0 but beat WAS and TEN, who are both 0-2. They only beat WAS by 2, and TEN by 4. I feel like this was a win with Williams, but probably a loss with Bagent or Keenum. I assume the Bears keep it close and it is a low scoring game.

As you probably heard I’m heading to Chicago in a few weeks for my first live game at Soldier Field. As a lifelong fan it’s crazy (to me) that I’ve never seen the beloved play in person, let alone at Soldier Field. Seen plenty of other teams over the years, just not Chicago. Wife thought we should go before they move on to wherever they end up next. To say I’m amped would be an understatement. We have a pretty full agenda for this trip but always appreciate any local perspectives if you guys have any. I fully intend to participate in the tailgate stuff so that’s on the list. Wow, the Packers look terrible. Lost 35-14, but it should've been more. Love had 5 INT throws, DBs dropped 3. O-Line may be the worst in the NFL, RB Room worst in the NFL. Outside of Watson, they have no offense. On defense they cannot stop the run. They look like a 5-win team.

I just read on USA Today's Bearswire that Bagent is in concussion protocol? This is the first I've heard of this.

Bradbury had reached the point where he’s not helping the offense. Too many penalties and he’s not good blocking. Just put the rookie out there. We might still get some mistakes but we’ll also get better blocking.

Well after a bunch of just awful special teams snaps, one of which in part lost us a field goal that would have the game tied at the end instead of a loss, the Bears cut/waived Rookie UDFA long snapper Beau Gardner, and brought back our long time long snapper Scott Daly, activating him to the 53 man roster today. Well deserved. Gardner is not ready for prime time. I do not know if they will resign him to the practice squad and keep developing him or not, but he might just as likely be just gone. I mean, they probably keep and develop him, but he is in no way ready to be an NFL long snapper. He's been awful both weeks.

MIght as well start this one up early. Don't want to be all doom and gloom, but Bagent against PHI and NYJ defenses the next two weeks are pretty much losses. Then at 1-3 in the easiest part of the schedule projects to a 7-8 win season.

It looks like a dislocated patella, which may also mean a torn ligament (depending on severity). If the ligament is torn, it will require surgery as the knee cap will move around and be very unstable. If he has surgery, he will be out for 8-10 weeks at a minimum. If no torn ligament, he can come back with a brace in a few weeks. He was hurt on a simple QB sneak too, but he couldn't bend his leg. The Madden Curse is for real. You hate to see injuries to any player, but this actually hurts the Bears as KC plays GB next week, then MIN the following week.
