I just read Najeh Davenport was just dumped by the Steelers. I think he may be a decent fit. A vertan with a decidedly different running style than all our other guys. He could prove useful in the red zone without treading on some of our other backs' forte's... All pun intended... Thoughts?

I would just like to note that Tommy Harris certainly seems to be a player that the Bears can be proud of, and one that us fans should get behind. Besides his obvious physical skills, his behaviour off the field is consistent with what one would would expect of a player making millions of dollars. What a refreshing change from idiots who have children out of wedlock and get their private lives smeared all over town, leave their Lambo crashed on the side of the highway and initially claim it was stolen, and make profane and arrogant comments via the media about the Bears organization. I would rather lose than see punks like that play for the Bears. I am sick to d…

  4. Goodell and finances I agree with him. It's ridiculous. The amount these guys get paid is crazy, but to see a rookie get it is that much more insane. Some will argue about capitalism, but it's not an equal comparison. If it were, there would be bidding wars on each player coming straight out of college, there would be no cap, and the NY teams would be in the playoffs for 20 straight years like in baseball. It'll be so nice to see rookies actually have to do something to get paid, and not crap the bed, costing their franchise tons of money without production.

Kevin Jones hosted a workout for NFL suitors and only four teams showed up. Just so the suspense does not kill anyone, the Bears were not in attendance. Strangely enough, the steelers were there. I found that odd after they just let go of Davenport. Here's the link. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3465537

Is it the owner, the front office, JA, the coaches, or the scouts? Who chooses the first round selections? I just got to wondering that, because in a recent fantasy mag they mention the numerous first rounders who have not panned out for the Bears. It's truly disheartening. Columbo, Haynes, Enis, Salaam, Rex, Benson, and to a lesser extent Tank (2nd)...that's a lot of misses in the first round. I wonder what the hit to miss ratio is as compared to other franchises?

BEARS REACH DEALS WITH THREE ROOKIES Posted by Michael David Smith on July 1, 2008, 1:42 p.m. The Bears announced today that they have signed one of their draft picks and come to contract agreements with two others. Defensive tackle Marcus Harrison, a third-round pick out of Arkansas, signed a four-year contract. Harrison is a big talent with two big question marks: He suffered a torn ACL in the spring of 2007 and was arrested in August and accused of having an ecstasy pill and marijuana in his vehicle. If Harrison stays healthy and stays out of trouble, the Bears got a steal. If not, GM Jerry Angelo will have to answer why he used a third-round pick on a guy wi…

  11. Packers: Favre has "itch" to play GREEN BAY — Brett Favre has the itch to play football again, but the Green Bay Packers apparently prefer for the legendary quarterback to scratch it elsewhere. An NFL source told the State Journal on Wednesday afternoon that Favre — or agent James "Bus" Cook on his behalf — contacted the Packers "within the past few weeks" about returning, and the conversation ended in him asking the club for his release. The Packers refused. Favre has communicated his potential desire to coach Mike McCarthy, but talks have not advanced to a substantive stage, a Packers source told Mortensen. The league source, who spoke to the State Jou…

I am beginning to think there is a definite relationship to the Bears' policy of rewarding their own when they excel and the way we seem to always be ahead of the other teams in signing our rookie classes. People like to say we (the Bears) are cheap. Tell me of any other team who works as hard as the Bears to reward their own. I can not think of one that comes close. Then you look at how far ahead we are of other teams in signing our rookie classes, this year and the past few. I am beginning to think it is because the rookies know that if they sign with us, get in camp on time, and perform (excel) they will also be rewarded. JA has established a great re…

Interesting video from Forte, he's humble, and shooting for 1000 yards this season. I honestly see no reason why he can't get more. One note on the video: Bears are without their top passer, rusher, and receiver from last year. Why does that matter? I could understand if the guys did well, but if those top three led to an offense that was widely regarded as a joke, and less effective than several college offenses, then why worry? Why care? The only considerable loss is Berrian, and he hadn't yet shown the ability to be a true #1, something for which he wanted to be paid.

  15. Bears DT Harris' stature continues to grow So let's say Urlacher and Harris BOTH have outstanding years, BOTH voted to the Pro Bowl, BOTH considered the best at their respective positions by the end of the year, do you think Urlacher remains the main "figure head" of the Chicago Bears or does Tommie Harris' surge in popularity and his more comfortable style with the media make him the new "poster child" of the Bears?

Brian Urlacher? Tommie Harris? Tillman, Vasher, Briggs???? Nope, I think the critical link to the Bears defense in 2008 is Mike Brown. I am not saying we could not be successful with him on the IR. But I think his absence on the field takes more away from this defense than the absence of any other one player. We have good options at the other positions. Briggs could easily play MLB. We have players ready to replace Briggs. We have some nice looking DBs behind Vasher & Tillman. But we are not only weak in proven depth at Safety, but Brown brings far more to the defense than his playing skills at the position, he brings LEADERSHIP. Chicago Bears Strategy a…

  18. Rick Morrissey April 20, 2008 I have been trying to come up with salient points the Bears might be making as they attempt to lower the numbers in contract-extension talks with Brian Urlacher, who, if he isn't Mr. Chicago, is near the top of the family tree. There is, of course, Urlacher's recent back and neck injuries and the fear his game might be slipping because of those health issues. There is his age, 30 next month, which, given the rigors of playing linebacker, works out to about 50 in normal human years. There is the fact they gave him a nine-year, $57 million contract in 2003 and what's the big idea about wanting more money? These are g…

So let's say you have heard that the Packers don't want Brett Farve back because he has retired and the Packers have moved on to Mr.Rodgers neighborhood. Would you as the GM for the Bears make a move for him if he still wants to play and the Packers cut him?

So, you want an additional challenge? I have started an additional league as a Pay League, costing 29.99 to join. You will receive a free Draft Kit and live scoring (Stattracker) which normally costs 14.99 for players in free leagues and you will also receive those benefits in the free TalkBears League, if you are playing in them, by signing up for the Pay League. This will off-set the cost of the 29.99 if you had planned on purchasing them for the free league as you would then get them for all Yahoo leagues you are signed up for. If you did not sign up for the free TalkBear Leagues, you are still welcome to sign up for this one! The live draft will be a week b…
