So here it is: Bears get: Jay Cutler, Johnny Knox - WR Broncos get: Kyle Orton, Robert Ayers - DE, Richard Quinn - TE (for picks #79 & #84), Alphonso Smith - CB (for 1st Round pick in 2010) Steelers get: Kraig Urbik - OL, Mike Wallace - WR (both picks for pick #64) Seahawks get: Bears #1 pick in 2010 (for pick #37) It seems that Denver had a chance to come out pretty good with the original trade. However, trading away a first rounder for A. Smith was a pretty big reach. Then trading picks #79 and #84 to grab Quinn was also pretty questionable. Seattle and Pittsburgh both made out pretty good.

Don't know if you guys have seen this or not. Pretty impressive, albeit unimportant when it comes to how well someone performs on a football field.

This was just a odd draft. I was so happy after the Cutler deal, that I found myself defending Angelo's picks as often as not. Hey, he is my BFF afterall With that said, Gilbert - I flat out did not want to draft DT early, much less w/ our first pick, but just can not argue this pick. In Gilbert, we got a huge value. Kiper called Gilbert the best value pick in the draft. Seems like an ideal fit for our scheme, and when I think about what Marinelli can do w/ him, well, I just love the potential here. Iglesias - I flat out didn't expect Angelo to want the same receiver I wanted. Not only did he draft Iglesias, but he was also high on Robiskie. Shocking An…

http://www.chicagobears.com/news/NewsStory.asp?story_id=5786 April 27, 2009 Bears earn high marks for draft effort By: Larry Mayer | Last Updated: 4/27/2009 5:30 PM LAKE FOREST, Ill. – The Bears generally were awarded high marks for their performance in this past weekend's NFL Draft, earning two As, five Bs and two Cs from the following national writers and broadcasters: In giving the Bears a B, ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. labeled third-round pick Jarron Gilbert the biggest steal of the draft and wrote that “wide receiver Juaquin Iglesias was a good pick, as were cornerback D.J. Moore and wide receiver Johnny Knox. Seventh-round pick Derek Kinder could …

I love what every team in our division did this year in the draft. If Harvin can keep his head on right plus Loadholt, the Vikings had a good draft. The Lions went out at got Stafford + the best TE in the draft + who I thought was the best FS. The Bears got Cutler + Moore in the 4th. The Packers got Raji and Matthews, both who can contribute right away in their new 3-4. IMO, our division as a whole had the best draft. Thoughts?

I used to follow Nebraska and sometimes the Univ. of Tennessee in the College ranks but with yet another additon of a player from Vanderbilt, I have decided from now on...I am a loyal follower of the Commodores. In fact I have ordered a shirt and everything. Next season on Saturday I will be paying more attention to the Vandy games so that I know what caliber of players the Bears will be drafting in the future. GO COMMODORES!!!!!

This kid reminds me of Thomas Jones a little. Not only in running style but work ethic. I can see why we brought him for a look. Did not have a good 40 time but plays fast. http://www.athleticnetwork.net/site.php?pa...amp;newsID=7155 Will ta'ufo'ou ( say that 10 times ) FB is interesting as well. He will definately bring competition at FB. http://ballhype.com/video/will_ta_ufo_ou_career_highlights/ Hey look Tom Waddle born again, Eric Peterman.

Jets talking to Plaxico. What if we still could get Plaxico Buress to sign with us would we be a better team? IMHO we just need a big body type with the size of Plax for Cutler to throw two.We have a lot of 6 ft guys who can't be used in the red zone with the fade routes.Olsen is the main option. We also have the 6'7 TE Davis but we never use him or the 6'4 Ridaeu. With what we drafted on the defensive side of the ball we should be a better team on D so it will give us more chances to score. With the addition of Plax it gives us bigger targets and creates mismatches all over the field

At the start of Free Agency i was very close to jumping off the ledge. I couldnt believe we were doing nothing. We then make "THE TRADE". As well as picking up some new OLine talent. Now the draft has come and gone and now i am even more excited. Here is a list of things that i am very interested in seeing and excited about: 1. Cutler- enough said 2. WR's- i have read a couple of times that Cutler made the WR's in Denver. I cant wait to see what Hester and Cutler can do. Drafting Enqriue Inglesias was huge IMHO. Watching him play in NC game against one of the best Defenses in the country was a good marker on his talent level. I think he could be great. I'm also exc…

I read a few posts on the internet from PFT, and the Trib about Favre being released by the Jets. And therefore some of these writers are speculating he'll land in Minny next. 1. I do not think he'll un-retire yet again. 2. If he does, I relish the thought! I'd love 2 more chances to send him into permanant retirement! He proved last year he can no longer be effective for a full season. While he may light things up for 8 weeks, he'll falter down the stretch. I'll take Cutler any day over that over-the-hill, over-rated Wrangler peddling bum! PS - If he does un-retire, do we assume so will Madden?

Okay, a friend and I were talking about our picks, and what NFL players we might compare them too. Understand, I am not saying our picks will become, are as good, or will end up like those they are compared to. I might see similar traits, or actually feel the upside is comparable. Anyway, here are some thoughts. Jarron Gilbert The player that comes to mind for me is Richard Seymour. Gilbert is 6'5 290. Seymour is 6'6 310, but as I recall, Saymour was lighter coming out of college, and gained weight to play in a 3-4, which Gilbert could easily do. Seymour was always considered very athletic and very versatile. I remember the belief that he could play as …

I've been talking Bears and football with you guys for aprox. 6 years on 2 sites and know that I would follow you guys to the end of the internet LOL. For the past 5 years during draft time I have been producing a little generic draft guide based on what I can see on my TV during games and workouts that I can view. Thats why my partipation on this site during draft time has dwindled. I'm busy compiling my unscientific research typing it into my computer and then printing up a few copies for my co workers so they can follow the draft a little better than they would be able to through the newspapers they find in our lunchroom. So what I'm asking is why not all of…

Big and fast: Louis is also a versatile and athletic young prospect. The 6-2, 303-pounder played tight end his first two seasons at San Diego State before being moved to right guard in 2007 and right tackle in 2008. In San Diego for the NFL owners meetings, Angelo attended a workout the Bears had set up with Louis. “He ran a 4.75 at around 300 pounds,” Angelo said. “I’ve never seen a guy that big since (former NFL offensive lineman) Randall McDaniel run that fast, and when he ran that fast, he was about 275 pounds. “[Louis] has some special traits. We even threw passes out of the fullback position just to give him a look there. He’s a pretty good athlete, s…

Per the Bears' website, Earl Bennett is changing his number from 85 to 80. Apparently he wanted to go back to his college number (10) but the NFL won't let you switch from an 80-89 number to a 10-19 number. Seems like a dumb rule to me. However, he's now got 80, Berrian's old number. The superstitious part of me thinks that could be a good thing. The article also lists the new rookies' numbers, and there are a couple of other familiar ones: Earl Bennett: 80 (Bernard Berrian) Al Afalava: 46 (Chris Harris, Doug Plank) Mike Rivera: 59 (Rosevelt Colvin, Ron Rivera) Derek Kinder: 83 (Willie Gault) D.J. Moore: 30 (Mike Brown) ...then again, Rashied Da…
