He was run game coordinator under Carrol in Seattle, and worked with Waldron there. The staff is filling out really nicely! And unlike the first wave of hires, these people all had a specific connection to Waldron, so the chemistry is known already. Hopefully Morton has the juice to make Waldron run the ball more than he did previously. If Waldron can adapt, and there's no reason to doubt that, and get a fully dimensional and modern offense in Chicago, then we will be on our way up the ladder, with a whole Waldron tree waiting in the wings ready to move up if Waldron is hired away as a HC, or if he is promoted to our HC some time. That is one developing insuranc…

Sorry guys, but I deleted the post offering a poll to decide who is at fault for the in-fighting. Truth be told, many involved share the blame. Having a poll will just cause further issues. I don't usually delete posts, so I hope you understand.

Poles has made four moves so far. All solid depth pieces at IOL , S, TE and RB. He's obviously compensating for lack of draft picks. Since the consensus says we are drafting Caleb, I'm trading the 9 pick. Here goes...

The more I think about it we all need to plan a vacation so that we can see one another face to face. After all these years, I'm not sure how we have not come up with plans to meet at training camp or something. Even if its just to slap the dog shit outta your TalkBears rival.

There is an article I highly recommend on NFL.com Bent but not Broken: The History of the Rules It is a fascinating article that explains the game's evolution. The article begins with this paragraph:

I know I am concerned about the Bears offense, but league-wide, offensive numbers are down across the board. Check out some of these stats thru 2 weeks: 300-yard Passing Games thru 2 weeks: 2024: 5 2023: 13 2022: 13 2021: 21 2020: 16 2019: 20 2018: 19 2017: 13 2016: 20 Red zone passing TDs thru 2 weeks: 2024: 40 2023: 67 2022: 74 2021: 71 2020: 79 2019: 56 2018: 69 2017: 57 2016: 64 So as bad as Williams has been numbers-wise, they look a lot better considering what the rest of the league is doing too.

So I have always liked QBR as a way to represent QB production over other methods. I just didn't know that it had such a strong correlation to wins. Looking over the first 3 weeks of the season, a team has at least an 80% chance of victory when their QBR is in the top 10. On the flip side, a team has over a 70% chance at a loss if they are in the bottom 10. The outliers are usually super close games. Purdy had the #6 QBR and lost 27-24 this week. In Week 2, Hurts had the #3 QBR and lost 22-21, Burrow lost 26-25, and Jones lost 21-18. 3 losses by 5 pts. In Week 1, Richardson had the #1 QBR and lost 29-27, and Murray had the #4 QBR and lost 34-28. On the low end…

Great game for the Aussie, but he needs to keep it up for the remainder of the season. I have no clue why he was doing a Gill impersonation the first 3 weeks. After that great game, he now is 19th in Punting Average, T-5th in punts inside the 20, and T-4th in total punts. I hope he can creep into the top 10 by the end of the season because half the guys ahead of him are UDFAs. So the 4th round pick usage is fine if he is an elite punter, but if he is just "average", then there was no point in using a 4th rounder on him. Hopefully he reads this thru remote viewing and kicks the crap out of the ball for the rest of the season.

I hope Stevenson can improve, he seems a little off compared to how he finished the season last year. Otherwise, look at how the All-Pro CBs and Safeties from last year are performing compared to our guys: Johnson - 78.8 / 78.4 Cov (Is there any doubt who the best CB is out of this group?) Sauce 66.9 / 69.4 Cov (AP1) - Sauce is not elite. Horn 65.2 / 64.1 Cov (NFL1) - Overrated, never should've won this over JJ last year. Surtain - 59.7 / 56.5 Cov - People always put him in the top tier of CBs, why? Bland (IR) Byard 74.3 / 68.6 (The vet is leading the way) Brisker 67.2 / 65.5 Cov (Mr. Consistent and improving) H…

So we are now nearing the halfway point of the season, already had the bye, so we should have a pretty good idea about who this team is and what their identity is, especially on offense. Can someone tell me what that is? The fact that we don't know after a full offseason and two months of the regular season is worrisome. Something is wrong.

After climbing as high as the WC2, the Bears are outside looking in now (on the bubble), tied with LAR and SF at 4-4. The 3 WC teams at the moment are MIN 6-2, PHI 6-2, and GB 6-3. So there is already a 1.5 game gap between the Bears and the last WC spot. Just looking at the schedule, even if the Bears play decent, beat NE, then split the last 8 for a 5-4 record, that is a 9-8 record which I don't think will be enough for the playoffs. Passing GB is the only chance and GB would have to go no better than 3-5 down the stretch to finish 9-8 AND CHI would have to gain the tiebreaker against them or outright better record to tie them with 9 wins. The most realistic …

The only way Flus comes back is if he goes 10-7 IMO. Im not sure if 9 wins even gets him a ticket back. Reality: Tom Brown makes the offense better and CW looks good over the rest of the year. I think Poles figures he can keep continuity Brown HC-Williams DC. A new coach would mean a start over and another coach and system that would impede Caleb's growth. Other choices are a couple former HCs with Belichick and Vrabel. Belichick brings a great resume but will want control of personal and I dont see Poles wanting to give that up. There are a bunch of offensive minded coaches available that have never been a HC and would have to prove themselfves. King…

Here are the worst records against the top half of the league. It makes sense that most of the bottom feeders are on the list, but I was surprised to see DEN on there. They are 8-0 against bad teams and 0-5 vs good teams. If they make the playoffs, they are the first team eliminated (AFC side). ATL would be the same for the NFC. There is only one team on this list with a losing record AND a positive points differential, the Chicago Bears. You cannot make up how bad this team has been under Flus. JAX 0-8 CIN 0-7 CHI 0-6 MIA 0-5 DEN 0-5 (8-5) NE 0-5 NO 0-4 CAR 0-4 LVR 1-7 NYJ 1-7 SF 1-6 NYG 1-5 ATL 1-5 (6-6) Besides one-score game lo…

,When I say core,I don't mean blue chip,I m talking about people they figure to be here for at least 3 years or are under contract. What they see as roster value. On pace for 85-1258 and 21 TDs. That would be the 6th most receiving yards in franchise history, and the franchise record for TD receptions is 13 (last achieved by Dick Gordon in 1974 lol), so he would blow that out of the water by 8. I am sure his TDs will slow down, but he has 13 games left to get 9 TDs (to hit 14 for the record).

Early on there were a lot of concerns about the Bears picking Loveland over Warren (or a DT, Edge, or OT). Warren came out of the gate on fire and was really looking like one of the best TEs in the league while Loveland was still recovering from surgery and getting limited playing time. Right now Warren's raw stats look better, but those are essentially padded by playing time. Warren has 200 more offensive snaps than Loveland and 41 more targets. However, since November, Loveland has been one of the best TEs in the league. In that span, he beats Warren in every category. Warren has been pretty bad the last few weeks, with only 8 catches on 21 targets, for a tot…
