I've been watching since the mid-70s and you know what? The Bears are just a bad organization. Has anyone ever gotten so much mileage out of one SB win as the Bears? What a complete joke the McCaskey family is. If they had any decency they'd sell the team to someone who actually gives a shit.

I hear the packers are planning to retire cutler's number in a ceremony. I hope he gets a chance to stick around for that.

I'm glad the Bears get the Bengals in week 1, should give us a good idea of where they stack up. The Dalton gang is going to provide a stiff test, and Vegas has it close across the board with Bears -3. My opinion can't be trusted since it's heavily colored by bias at this time of the season, when everything is possible, but I believe the Bears pull away in the 4th quarter and win by double digits. I think Bears special teams have been overlooked and I truly think Hester is going to return to form, forcing short-field situations and putting constant pressure on opposing defenses. I also think Jefferey is going to have a break-out season, which means Marshall should get some great looks as the season progresses. It's the ideal scenario for the Bears...if a D tries to take away one of those guys, the other is left in single coverage. Barring injury, Matt Forte becomes the X factor. Put 8 in the box and Marshall/Jeffrey will smoke you, if not, Matt will run behind the re-tooled line and eat up the clock. My only question is whether the Bears are buying into the talent they have. They have every reason to question themselves after last season's collapse, but I think they can compete with most teams in the league. SF and SEA are clearly in a different class to start the season. Let's get the party started.

As the season is unravelling, I believe what Mr. Urlacher is doing is known as "piling on." Always a plus when it comes from your team captain. If you think it's ugly now, Brian, just wait and see if your boys lay an egg in Phoenix and Detroit.

If the experts are to be believed, there's not much point in watching this game. Bears don't stand a chance. As far as I"m concerned, this game is all about Lovie Smith and his ability to lead a depleted to a must-win victory. The fact that he chose to do a walk-thru instead of have a full practice on Wednesday better pay dividends. I'm sick and tired of losing to the freakin packers, and this bears team should be too. Especially cutler.

Carimii is not a LT. Scouts projected him as a good run blocker and Tice has even said as much. Leave him at RT and hope that his knee, which many had red-flagged going into the draft, doesn't come back to haunt us.

I hope Hanie's enjoying these days because they are his last in the league. No one is going to pay that douche to be their QB, not even 3rd string.

I think the question is how much MORE successful would he be if he had the offensive personnel to truly run his system? A true #1 receiver, for starters, and an offensive line that was more than a patchwork. Just think if he didn't have to abandon and adjust so many schemes just to provide protection for Jay. This organization is still crawling out of the offensive stone age. But if you think Turner was a better option...which Turner are you referring to? The one from the 90s or the more recent incarnation? He had one season (2006) with a 26.7 ppg avg., the same that Martz has now in his 2nd season.

I'll grant you, he makes some goofy calls. The throwback screen, IMO, was not one of them. Hanie failed to read the defense and compounded the situation by throwing the ball anyway when it was clear there was no play. Everyone's quick to bail out Hanie and forgive his performance but keep in mind this guy is paid sweet $ to be prepared at any moment to step in and offer at least adequate leadership on offense. He failed, miserably. We're deluded by a nice effort in last year's championship game, even though he threw it right into a lineman's hands when he had Hester coming across the middle with no one near him for miles. But that's beating a dead whore; that team was destined to win. For all his head-scratching calls, Martz has still been the best offensive coordinator the Bears have had in a long time. And it's worth considering another quarterback's opinion of that play. Miller

Agreed. Hanie seems to be getting a pass on a lot of his mistakes but the truth is he looked inept out there. I would be shocked if he has much more to offer than what we saw against a mediocre AFC West team.

Give credit to Oakland's D - they sniffed that one out pretty fast.

Not a doctor but from my own experience you only have surgery when the bone is displaced. So I'm assuming it's a pin/screw to be inserted and immobilize. That's a minimum of 6 weeks to get it off. At least, that was my experience.

Bears looked really balanced last night. If Forte doesn't put the ball on the ground that game is a blowout. Time for some payback this Sunday.

Monsters of the midway are in for a tough one tonight. We'll know pretty quickly if the D is up to the challenge of keeping that offense reasonably in check, and whether Cutler wets the bed on a Monday night with overthrows and rash decisions. I'm hoping for a good game, a close game, where the Bears are in it till the end. But I'm still not buying that Philly is an elite team, so there's a part of me that wouldn't be surprised if the story line is that the Chicago Bears came to town and laid the wood to the dream team, solidifying their position for a WC spot and sending a message to the league that they will have to be reckoned with. Baltimore did it last night; Chicago needs to do it tonight.

Listening to the experts, Bears don't stand a chance vs. Philly. The dream team has arrived, apparently. Trouble is, the cowboys are shit and anyone who reads too much into that win is fooling themselves.

D needed to step up after the disaster in detroit. Wasn't too thrilled with Peppers post game interview in which he nearly whined about being on the field when the game was out of reach (although I was wondering the same thing). Stephen Paea sighting? If you remember him in college, he was a beast. The wild card chase is going to be a good one, hope the Bears can stay in it. I have a good feeling about playing the AFC west once they get done with Tampa and Philly. Win 1 of those 2 and then feast on the AFC.
