I pretty much agree. Except, I'm a lot more worried about D...
-
Love it! I was wearing 34 all day! I think I can live with scoring 34 points per week... Now, if the D can just pull it together to not let Calvin go nuts on us...
-
He's getting up in age. Given he is only under contract this season...I think this may be his last with us sadly.

Cheap dollars trying to be made off Walter...

Thanks. I think the ire over this goes well beyond Bears fans. -
Nope. I pretty much mirror everyone's thoughts already stated on this.

I read somewhere a comparison to Jim ("Chris") Everett.... That scares the hell out of me.

Thanks for sharing that. It puts a lot in perspective... I also wonder if on a larger scale...people complain more when the economy isn't so great? Seems like a planet aligning thing... -

Great thoughts jason. -
Very true. Cutler's been getting a free pass. He shouldn't. He is over-throwing He is showing bad mechanics He is holding the ball too long ...he needs to improve on all that. I fear he may be checked out...

Thanks for finding that. The guy is basically hunting for dollars. I hope the book does poorly. I will now never again go to SI or purchase any of their items. There are alternatives to the swimsuit edition! -

I've enjoyed your posts and banter through the years. I'm kind of surprised at your view... I posted a relevant topic to the Bears and Bears fans, and called out the writer for being "negative". I want to do something positive and show my support for Walter and wear his jersey all year. I'm just at a loss why you feel so strongly otherwise. I know you are a writer. When in college, I was too. But I always thought everything was fair game. And disagreeing with a story or why it's even written is part of that. I won't lie, I'm not happy with the state of the Bears. I'm sorry if there's too much negative. But, that's how many of us are seeing it. If it were just me, you all could just ban me. I love the Bears. I'm just not in lock step with the organization. It's a simple fact that conversation flows with results. If the team is doing well, conversation is lofty. If not, the opposite rules the roost. I fully respect your points of view, even though I may disagree with some. I do hope you reconsider. -
We just simply disagree then. I thought his salary was far more useful, expecially consiering other flops like Manumaleuseless... Let's also not forget that during that time, not every return was a TD, but a good lot gave us excellent field position. That has tremendous value. I agree that he was overpaid in his last contract. But, for me personally, when you look at his salary from his rookie year through now...I'm more than fine with the value we rec'd.

I also have the right to call him names as I did... It's simply unnecessary and classless. Legal (I think, unless there's slander or similar), but calssless. Being an a-hole isn't agasint the law, it's just not desirable. Given the theme of most my posts, do you really think I have any problem being negative? I'm a stauch freedom of speech person. And that includes my right to belittle such tripe. I am choosing not to read it. I am also expressing my American freedom, and am talking about it in a bad light. If you don't like my comments about the writer, don't read them. Open for discussion... -
That Pats have better WR's...we don't!

Agreed... I just want a true leader of men. I'd prefer a guy with a SB win, or at minimum, coaching under such a guy.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_...?urn=nfl-wp8200 Please read the comments. I'm 100% certain, those comments are not all Bears fans. Just fans of football and the man. I've heard many of the stories mentioned in the article. It just reads so salaciously and like tabloid trash. It's all out of context, assuming it's all even true. And I've heard others. But, I really see nothing greivous...just issues that eveyday people deal with all the time. It's sad, this will tarich his image. However, i think only for a moment. Once this clown writer is done with his 15 minutes of fame. All this will be pushed aside and the positives will come back to light. I'm personally disgusted. I will be wearing my Walter jersey all season now in full support. I encourage everyone else to do so as well.

I follow, I just am personally glad we still had him...and have him. He is just being mis-used now as he was then.

1. Fair enough... 2. I've been following Carroll for a while as a passenger. One of my best friends is a Pat's fan. So I watched with him , then against him when w/ the Jets. As I live in SoCal, I followed along w/ Carroll here. I contend that he is 100% perfect for the college game, but is not suited for the NFL. I don't think he'll win in the NFL personally...but if he makes it back to the college ranks, he'll be huge. I find Carroll to honestly be a glorified cheerleader on the sideline. It gret for college, but looks off in the pros. Cowher exuded energy. To me, Caroll exudes "ra-ra - sis-cum-bah!" I like passion when it's honest. Gruden and Cowher both have that. Caroll, does too I suppose...but I'm just not sold on it with him. It looks kind of forced. Just my personal opinion. But, I think we both agree that we want a guy to have vision in all elements... 3,4. I could see Url ad Peppers staying depending on how the re-build is going and who's doing the re-build. I'm not sure we're horrifically far away. I could see year 2 of a re-build garnishing some serious payoffs...

I aim in overall agreemnt with you...but I disagree about Calvin. he wouldn't drop the balls that were dropped. And in fact, he provies Cutler with a true outlet that was not available on that or any day this season...or decade. Calvin is probably a once in a lifetime talent. I still don't think our Bears WR's would cut the mustard, even with the Cowboys OL. I think they are simply that bad. I disagree. You are simply disrespecting Jerry, Calvin and Steve... But, I still am in overall agreement about the necessity of OL. Just not to the same extent. I'd still settle for either option 1 or 2 over the crap we have now.
-
1. Well, you saw it with Calvin! There are guys like that that come around... I agree. It's rare. I'm just saying, you go in trying to get a stud at OL or WR. If it's a tie in talent, etc...go OL be all means. If it's clearly better at WR, you go there. Again, don't handcuff yourself like Martz would! 2. I don't either. But I think he's more than passalbe. Plus, we need some experience in there. I would be more than willing to let him go depending on which FA came in. Carmini is the man. At least, it would appear as such. Williams, I am over. He just doesn't seem to have "it". Maybe he will. Injury really isn't hampering him like it did with Columbo. We could let him go, then watch him be a star somewhere else. But, I doubt it. Agreed, with JA leading the charge, we are doomed on the OL. We did ok when we brought Tait and all the FA's for a while, but now we're paying the piper.
-
I'm not really sure he's arguing against a stud OL. I think the arguement is based on what's there to be had. If the option is Anthony Munoz or Calvin Johnson, i think the Munoz picks is the one. But if the pick is Calvin Johnson or Chris Williams...then you go Calvin. Much will depend on where we are picking. Top picks no longer have the financial stigma they once did. I also contend that some of the improvement on the OL must come from FA...something JA definitley $hit the bed on this off-season. I see the only real keepers on this squad as Garza (who should return to guard) and Carimi. That means we need 3 spots filled. I think bring in a FA center, and draft a G and T. Or some combination of the sort.
-
I'll still call you dumb. Just kidding. Kind of... You also can't be certain a 1st and 2nd would have been the trade... JA would have squandered those picks. So, instead we at least got to enjoy record breaking performances by one of the most electric players in NFL history. I contend he's not the WR they are paying him to be. But, again, that's management's fault. The experiment as a #1 is over. He should be in the mix every now and then, and pretty much just run steaks. Then once in a blue moon, slants and curls. He needs to be used as a deep weapon. Then again, there's no time to throw deep... Again, mis-management.
