I hope he'd learn from that mistake! But, in all seriousness, how about Parcells? Even if for a year, he would put some good people in place to run the show after he left...
-
One can dream. I don't think Ditka was a great x's and o's guy, but he has a football mind. And some respect around the league. I hate JA more. (Note that I cannot call him by name. JA works well because it's also in reference to "JackAss".)

Holdman, Colvin, Alex Brown, Mike Brown, Orton, Chris Harris (although now back), Columbo, Olsen, Kreutz, Tony Parish... Yes, some were past their prime, but they were ours and were let go, and we probably should have kept them longer. But the list simply isn't as short as you wrote...

I just simply disagree with your assessment of JA. As Mark Twain said, "There are lies, damn lies, and statistics." The record and titles don't exactly mean he's great. I feel that virtually any GM could have got the same results, if not better. Urlacher and Mike Brown alone simply willed us into numerous wins. Not JA guys... Everyone here was thrilled with Cutler and Peppers. However, any GM can throw money and picks to get players. Great one, like in NE get Cutler for a 2nd. Not 2 firsts. One would expect that with around 70 picks in his tenure, he'd hit something. His hit and miss ratio simply isn't good enough. (Wre Vasher and Peanut his picks? I seem to recall they were the previous regime, but I could be wrong. I'm going off my Swiss cheese memory on that...) He's simply in over his head I feel. And the long term results are not good enough.

ouch. He was probably right about 1...but a 75% failure rate ain't so good.
-
OK. I'm feeling it. I don't know why. We are going to win. I don't know how. But we will win. A big play by one of our stars... be it Url, Peppers, Peanut, Devin, Forte or Cutty...will make for a win in Chicago.

Fair is simply subjective. You get paid what you agree to get paid. We all do. You either accept terms or don't. On either side of the fence. Sometimes, overpayment is obvious. Sometimes it's not. I think, in Forte's case, any overpayment would simply be attributed to that he was grossly underpaid for the past few years. To me, it all evens out. He's integral to what the team is. He may have more or less value under certain coordinators or game plans...but he's an extremely solid contributor no matter how you slice up his "specialness". There simply seems to be more vocal discontentment in recent years than in prior ones. I hope. But I worry. I like Mr. Forte. He seems like a class guy that puts out a ton of effort and seems to really care. I like guys like that. I hope his dealing with JA don't sour him to the club and wishes to go elsewhere where franchises are better run like New England. I could see Forte making NE a virtual unbeatable powerhouse under Bilichick. They'd have the versatile RB they've lacked for a while. Thankfully we have him now. And I think he will chew up yards against the Fudgies on Sunday. F the Packers.

Whaddaya know! I wouldn't have expected that! I agree. I think when, where and why we've lost in the primetime games we've lost make those losses ugly and stand out.
-
I really hope you guys are right... I'm just being a doubting Thomas on this at the moment...
-
I just simply disagree. Just because your business card says "football guy" doesn't make it so. He's fair at best and awful at worst. That O-line was patched with retreads than any gm could have paid to get into town. True football guys build from within, and he's proven time and time again he can't. But we do come to the same end conclusion!

That line right there is the key rockren. We'll see a fix. But for how long until the real Martz rears his ugly head again?

Jeez, leave it to Alaska to fill my half empty glass w/ a little more suds! Really, were all those games televised? I watched 'em, but I have direct ticket. Maybe my gloom clouds my vision! But, Hester and Wootton made the season in all honesty for me! I'm just not really sold on wins v losses as the end all be all. My ultimate selling feature involves trophies, in which we have zero. It just seems to me that once we go up against some serious competition our flaws get very exposed. Whereas SB winning teams seem to step it up and play their best ball. And if you noticed, I've been laying off Smith. I believe the true culprit for our problems rests even more w/ JA. I'm not saying Smith is great, I still beleive other coaches would have done better...but I think JA is simply so atrocious. I honestly think we're going to win Sunday. It's just one those throw the records out battles. It's the rest of the games I'm more concerned about... The Pack can lose this game and still come out on top at the end. I'm not sure The Bears can say the same. Not impossible...just improbable.
-
I hope you're right...and not just under the tag.
-
You still play the hand you're dealt... I believe there have been many who have done more with less...
-
I don't want accountants running this team, I want football men.
-
Sadly, I see that panning out. If I'm Matt Forte, I probably want to go test the market. He's playing under a crummy contract all year. He knows he'll get paid next year with the tag or get let go and get paid. This doesn't bode well for the Bears in my opinion. Unless talks are going on and both sides aren't feeling any animosity.
-
gotcha!
-
just becasue JA did more than he had done in the past doesn't mean it's acceptable. If on patrol, a cops partner get shot and killed becasue of a f up...then the next partner only gets shot...doesn't mean that's OK. I could care less what his perception is, becasue he's obviously not right in the head.
-
Thanks for the info. I'm going on the assumption it's all true... And I give huge credit to Smith for trying to reign him in. And a huge middle finger for Martz n' Fartz... My frinds in SF, who was familiar w/ the Martz routine is not surprised in the least over the problems we're having. You simply can't teach an old dog new tricks. The wrist had been slapped. We'll see more runs, then at a crucial moment in the season, he will revert and all will be lost.

Where we are now, it would appear not.

Damn, it's still coming up as a generic front page for football... Thank you for trying! Maybe it's just my dumb computer. (Or user error)
