  1. Agreed. And that's the knock I've heard on him...that he doesn't prep well. Me, I'll never give Smith and JA any benefit of the doubt. Martz, I will for now.
  2. I understand... We usually battle the uphill battle. Agasint mangement, coaches, some players, and the national media... We've been doing so for many moons now. Kermit said it ain't easy being green. Nor is it easy to be a Chicago sports fan! But, it's in our blood. Damn the torpedoes!
  3. But the staff love Collins, and it looks scarily like he'll be the man under center this Sunday...
  4. Thanks. I keep hearing on the radio that Cutler now looks doubtful and that Collins will be the guy. I'm hoping you bring your luck with you to that game regardless of who's under center!
  5. Really either... And obviously I'd be willing to give up more for Moss. If the reality of what SD wants for Jackson is the 2nd, they can keep him. I still think Moss for a 3rd is a steal. But, deals can always be made...Tommie and a 2nd for Vinny and McNeil? I'd do it easily... But, that's a pipe dream. I kind of feel like we're in desperation mode...
  6. http://twitter.com/ChicagoBearscom/status/26577981916 LM: QB Jay Cutler IS on practice field with #Bears. More injury info to follow later today. about 2 hours ago via web Retweeted by 13 people .ChicagoBearscom ChicagoBears.com
  7. Accountability! See our board has it!
  8. If Angelo's still drafting, I might take it.
  9. I have a feeling this week will say a lot. I figure it to be redemption or bust. Of course, much of how this will be perceived will be based on whether Cutler plays or not. Assuming he does play...this game could be prohpetic. Here's my twisted logic on some scenarios... 1. We lose. If we lose, I think we're done for. It's the kind of loss that can send medicore teams snow-balling. (us last year, the Niners this year) The Panthers on paper are total garbage. We should win, and win big. The O line should improve, or at least block 1 out of 10 rushes unlike last weekend. Martz and staff must adjust and make things happen faster...and run the damn ball more often. Set up the freaking screen already. 2. We win...small. This tells us nothing. It pretty much says we did what is expected. We beat a team crummier than us. The record police will still be out telling us how we should have lost to Detroit, beat a ripe Dallas team, and that the Packers gave us the MNF game. We will have to wait another week to see how we respond before anythign truly telling appears. 3. We win...big. This bodes well. It does the expected by beating the Panthers and shows it was done handily. No controversial calls, no help from ref's, etc. With this scenario, there is a significant chance that some good things could be happeneing and could assume they learned from their NY mistake. Of course, some will still not be satisfied, and probably me included, but at least the arrow is clearly pointing upward. Anything other than this scenario is either doom or wait and see... Everything wil hinge on Cutler. I'd love to see him kick some freaking ass. Maybe this past Giants game is a wake up call for the guys on O. Maybe they all thought, "Cutty's a tough SOB. he'll always bounce back,etc.." Maybe they realize now, they have to help him. BBF's can't whif on potential career ending sacks. Linemen want thier Rolexes. Maybe WR's try to comeback and help the damn QB when he's under durress. Maybe the staff devises a beter game plan. Maybe, just maybe, this is a fire that gets lit under their collective asses. If it isn't, we are in for a long and punishing season where we will continue to be the butt of virtually every joke in the NFL besides Singletary dropping trou... My glass is still on the empty side, but there is at least some backwash left in it.
  10. Not sure that was the gyst... It's more to do with savvy. Our WR's are not savvy. They are not helping the QB tremendously. A verteran, savvy, pro bowl like WR would do that. He could bail out Cutler. I think that was more of the argument. And yes, I'd rather get McNeil too. In fact, can we get them both? If I'm dreaming, it may as well be big...
  11. Man, you said it Boston! What a contrast compared to how the club local to you is run...
  12. He not a big body though. Tall, but not beefy. I'd like to give him a shot for sure. He's in the infamous bizarro doghouse....so who knows what will happen besides letting him go and seeing Kyle Orton throw to another good WR in Denver!
  13. Then we just agree to disagree. I think a HoF WR would help us this year...and for a few more years while we get everything else up to speed. If it were anyone else drafting, I'd feel a little more hesitant giving a 3rd, but I have little faith in Angelo. No arguement in why we find ourselves in the spot we're in. It's basic failure. Poor drafting. Poor developing. Bad deals. We do need to remedy the problem from within, and with our current regime, I don't think it'll happen. I'm sure someone may know what we're over-pauing the line...however low it is, it's still too much! No doubt, if we can package Tommie Useless and a pick to get a stud young OL, it must be done! OL must be remedied! Won't the Pat's want one of our picks so they can have 7 draft picks in the first 3 rounds?
  14. You know you'll get no argument from me if you say the staff's decisions are bewildering! No argument on your priorities. I'd have D back 3rd and then WR. But is 1-3 aren't there to be had, I'm OK going for #4... That's really all I'm saying.
  15. He has the dropsies... And who knows the real reason he isn't seeing the field... I'm not sure you guys are getting my point. OL is the #1 priority. But that doesn't mean you should overlook all other concerns... Hey, I would get Mankins in a heartbeat too. But right now the deal on hand was Moss for a 3rd. I'd have done it. Cutler needs all the help he can get. Period.
  16. I still think the Bears need a big body bailout guy... Moss is that guy. We don't have one right now.
  17. Ahh! I see I did say lowly! My apologies! More of a emphasis that I thought the deal for Moss was lower than expected. After all , we traded a 2nd for Adams...
  18. Of course they are. So are HoF receivers.. In fact, more valuable. Not sure I ever said a 3rd wan't valuable. Not sure where you got that from. But for Moss, it's a bargain. And at the rate the Bears whiff in the draft, that's beyoind a bargain.
  19. Wesson, don't let the "OL is our only problem, all else if fine" bullies tell you otherwise! I'm the first to say OL is the issue that must be solved, and right away. However, I'm not going to let a beast like Jackson get nabbed up by some competitor when he can seriously help us out. Part of the sack issue is our dingbat WR's not running good routes, part of the pick problem is receivers' not fighting for catches. A big proven target does not hurt us. I could give a F about Virgie's money. And if we're going to sit around and do nothing about OL, then for all that's holy, do something...anything to help Cutler! Get a big target! All the league is trying to get better, and we bring in an ass clown that helped get a pregrant woman killed, that will be suspended for Star Caps in 3 years, and just got cut by an also-ran football league. Yay Jerry. I'm with you, bring in Jackson... If he bites us in the ass with another suspension, so be it. Although it will probably happen with the putrid luck we have as a franchise... Damn we are snake-bit like no other...
  20. Yup. Here we go again... Meanwhile, the Vikings pick up Moss for a lowly 3rd...
  21. Should have brought Garcia in over Collins. Collins is cannon fodder... At least Garcia is mobile. He's actually the perfect back-up for us at the moment.
  22. Exactly! We need beasts not mighty mites!
