Fair enough. I can't argue with non-logic!

Likewise! I want it all! Smith, Angelo, Phillips and the McCaskey's gone! But, I'll settle for as many as possible! I do think some re-building is in order. We at minimum need to re-bui'd the entire offensive line. The D should be fine. Regardless fo scheme, players like Urlacher, peppers, and Briggs will be just fine... Peanut is getting older and gets burned too oftenly. He seems to slip n' slide more than children do on a summer day. Love his stripping, not his tackiling or coverage. And he's showing his age. Keeping onto a system for Peanut isn't a good idea. I'm assuming the new coach won't be as stubborn as Smith. If you know Url will get eaten up, you put a Ted Washington-type guy in front. Tommie is done...he needs to be cut. Pisa againt isn't good enough to care. Of the lot, I only like Peanut, and if it meant we had to go to a 3-4 and lose him while a new DC creates something that would make Buddy Ryan happy, I'm all for letting him go!

jason, I think you're flogging a dead horse. I seriously doubt there's one person here that does not think O Line is the biggest priority. But it kind of sounds like you don't want to do anything about anything if we can't do something about the O Line. There is no good FA O lineman to be had on waivers. There, however, is a WR. Now, your second point clears your thoughts up more. You feel like we have some WR's. Me, I don't. We have fast bodies that aren't savvy. I think Bennett could be OK, and I think Hester or Knox could be used every once in a while with success. Knox needs to show more intelligence. He's been here a little too long to keep being that stupid. I'm tired of hoping one of our young WR proppects will bloom. I think they acutally have a better chance of success if there's a pro in the room that can take some heat off these kids. Why do you think Harvin did so well the last few weeks? Hell, if all Moss is is a decoy and some entertaining press conferences, he's worth the $3.3 mil! At least someone on the Bears will hold an interesting press conference! ...and for all the negative Moss stuff, I really haven't heard his teammates complain. That stuff tends to get out, and it really isn't from what I've read.

If this were for the long term, I'd probably feel the same. But Cutler needs some kind of help... [/quote Again, I would love to get a top-quality WR, but not with the baggage, including work-ethic and distractions, that RM brings.
-
Logic! Thank you for that post... Our WR's suck. Our OL sucks more. Do you not get a cheap WR just becasue your O Line sucks more? At least doing something about one issue is better than doing nothing about 2 issues...

I love what he did in 2008, but I'd still take Turner over Forte any day... And it wouldn't have cost us a draft pick. How can you pass up a 2 for 1? Let's leave hester out of this...that's not the argument. I'm fond of Forte, but Turner is also a local product that I'm sure you would have loved just as much had he comes here instead.

Because it doesn't work in the long term. By the time we reached the SB, our guys were gassed. Not to mention no Mike Brown. And we still aren't getting enough D-line pressure right now as is. And we just got through the weakest part of our schedule. It works, but other D's can work better. Especially as a base. I don't mind running it every now and then, but I'd prefer a differently minded defensive coach. Especially one who's won a SB and knows what it takes. The schedule has been easy. Detroit killed the skins, Dallas is a joke, Carloina is a joke, and Seattle ain't all that. Only the GB game is a good solid win. And people think that one was given to us with all the penalties and injuries to GB. Our record is waht it is, but let's wait it out a bit until we proclaim the resurgence of the vaunted cover 2... I don't like our HC. So, if I want him out, odds are so goes his scheme. And I have no problem with that. Our top tier players will play great in ANY scheme...
-
I've been clamoring for both...and I say nab Randy if it's possible. And if it all goes down in flames, I eagerly await the new staff.
-
Ok there, LL! I think I finally got my first win of the season! I'm like the Niners! Ready for the playoff run now!
-
I'd take him now... You never know what might spark him to play well. He has it in him, he's just not doing it now. I'd roll the dice. But, I'm a gambling man.
-
And let's not forget we could have had Michael Turner over Forte...and had that pick for something else.
-
I'd like to be far removed from the Tampa 2...

"masking" the trend...

The org sticks with him through his contract. The fans are already on his case justifiably. There have been rumors that the D is getting fed up...I think if the losing continues in the fashion they've been losing, give it to about week 12, and you'll see the D give up. The new org will keep Cutler. There's too much upside. A coaching staff worth its wieght can figure out a way to make him work. Cowher turned Kordell into a playoff QB...he can certianly do so w/ Cutlet. McDaniels is a douchebag of the highest order...I trust nothing that guy has done.
-
Not sure there's a soul here that doesn't agree with that...

SB: Patriots over Giants Coach: Phillips...the soonest, Fox doesn't count becasue he's out for sure DROY: Suh...best it yet to come OROY: Bradford Comeback POY: Urlacher MVP: P. Manning DPOY: Polamalu

I exaggerated a bit on the number of rings obviously. I do think he, in a lot of ways like Mike Brown, was a little too fragile. But, I do not doubt for a minute that that incident ruined him. Before, he could bounce back after a few weeks. After that, he was never the same. My blood boils just thinking about it... That's the moment when my personal hatred for the Packers hit epic levels and hasn't decreased since. I think losing Finks actually cost us more than Ditka ever did. Also McCaskey getting more involved was obviously really bad. Ditka was a brilliant figurehead I think. Ra-ra guy. Had we had the QB talent, we'd have been just fine. I just rembmer the one thing Ditka used to piss me off with was the draw on 3rd and long! Granted, w/ Sweetness, it wasn't the worst thing in the world and he broke some firsts every now and then. But that play at those moments just drew my ire! And let's remember those years following '85 were excelllent. Great regular season records and good playoff records overall. We lost out to teams like the Parcells' Giants, the Gibbs' Redskins, the Walsh Niners, and the Johnson Cowboys. All on record as some of the best teams ever w/ all kinds of HOF talent. We picked a bad decade to be great in. But, among all those, we still stand out as the gold standard for the beat year EVER. Screw the undefeated Dolphins. The only thing people can remember about those guys is how good they can pop open a Champagne cork. Where the 85 Bears de-corked QB's legally!

"NA! NA NA NA NA!!!" (Eyes closed, hands over ears...) I can't even fathom that! The reality of events is that he went to the Packers and f'ed us for 20 years as we had to listen to Madden fluff him. Now he's being fluffed by everyone but Jenn Sterger. I can't stand him. I want him gone. He is the most irritating celebrity of all time. (Yes, I get where you're coming from, but I just can't deal w/ this hypothetical question...) BTW - McMahon would have had 5 more rings had that cheap shot bastard, Charles Martin, not slammed him to the turf in the most unsportsmanlike deed in NFL history ruining both McMahon's career and the Bears' reign...
-
I would not have Favre at any point ever in the existence of the universe. F Favre. He can rot... He is not, nor shall he ever be a Chicago Bear. F him. (Sorry, I didn't mean to take a wrong turn at Albequerque regarding the crux of your arguments...but I couldn't resist making disparaging remarks about such abhorent evil...)
-
We've been lacking a strong FB for what seems like decades now...
-
Odds are they'd be busts w/ JA's stellar track record... Sorry, couldn't resist an easy jab at the regime of doom!

Nice read TD! I enjoyed reading your take on the situation...

So sad... I think Des is our best TE...

And Cooley to block...unlike our matador, Olsen.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...different-ways/ The Bears offense is awful in so many different ways Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 26, 2010 4:02 PM ET "Halftime adjustments" is a generally overrated concept because coaches are making plenty of adjustments before and after halftime anyway. Still, Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz may want to adjust whatever it is he's doing at the intermission. Chicago has been outscored 22-0 in the third quarter this year. Yep, not a single point. "Believe me, we're working to correct that," Bears coach Lovie Smith said via the Chicago Sun-Times. "And we're getting closer. ... We're going to continue to work. I just think the odds say we're going to get that part taken care of." Yes, the odds do say the Bears will score in the third quarter this year. Some other fun signs of the Bears offensive ineptitude: 1. The Bears failed on 28 straight third down conversion attempts before Jay Cutler completion to Devin Hester midway through the third quarter Sunday. 2. Chicago is converting 17.9% of third downs, less than half the league average. The next worst team is 25.3%. 3. The Bears turned the ball over five straight times against the Redskins, the first team to do that since the 2000 Rams. (Guess who was the coordinator.) 4. The Bears have allowed 31 sacks this year. The next closest team has allowed 21. 5. The Redskins said the Bears offense had a ridiculously easy tell for many of their plays on Sunday. Albert Haynesworth just watched to see which Bears offensive players were talking amongst themselves before the play. Of course. Period. NinerDynasty says: October 26, 2010 4:15 PM If this offense is awful, what would you categorize the niners offsense? Fire Childress seanx says: October 26, 2010 4:17 PM If someone blocked once in a while, they would be a lot better. Cutler may be a schmuck, but he is a decent player. When he isn't getting killed. 8 sacks in one half. 8. I would have quit. NFLJunkie says: October 26, 2010 4:18 PM Still, Bears offensive coordinator Mike Martz may want to adjust whatever it is he's doing at the intermission. Mike Martz? Adjust? Does he even know what that word means? jpnl says: October 26, 2010 4:19 PM "they have a reputation that's mostly built on luck 'cause the Bears still suck." EVH12345 says: October 26, 2010 4:23 PM "2. Chicago is converting 17.9% of third downs, less than half the league average. The next worst team is 25.3%. " So what's the league average? SirSuperSouthern says: October 26, 2010 4:31 PM Every problem the Bears have on offense could easily be solved by running the ball more often. A lot more often. Which means they'll never figure it out... laxcoach says: October 26, 2010 4:32 PM Will Martz ever get another NFL shot? Detroit... sucked and was a malcontent who was vocal about wanting another HC job. 49ers... took over an offense on the upswing (after 1 year under Norv Turner) and they sucked. He was so bad that Singletary fired him and replaced him with someone just as bad who a) will run occassionally and won't get his QB killed every 4 plays. Now the Bears. Good run offense when he gets there. Now? Nothing. The only running involves a QB running for his life. The man is a QB killer on par with Steve Spurrier. DeluxeReverb says: October 26, 2010 4:32 PM Don't forget about how the receivers run the wrong route or just give up on the route. Johnny Knox never knows what he is supposed to be doing. Bears_Beets_Battlestar says: October 26, 2010 4:33 PM @ football genius. His offense doesn't work in the NFL? Then how would you describe his offense winning the Super Bowl? It certainly doesn't work with the group the Bears have now, but a general statement like that is just retarded. garywizard says: October 26, 2010 4:42 PM The key to Mike Martz is that you have to give him some time ... Detroit would be a winner now if they had kept him around ... You guys would fire everyone ... NFLJunkie says: October 26, 2010 4:43 PM The Bears have a horrible offensive line and a bunch of below average receivers. I don't think this should all be pinned on Martz. tony325 says: October 26, 2010 4:52 PM The man is a QB killer on par with Steve Spurrier. _________________ I agree... The only reason Mike Martz got to where he is today is because of 1 guy... We didn't realize at the time how good Kurt Warner was... He got rid of the ball with such a rhythm & the timing of "The Fastest Show on Turf" was so good, it hid all of Mike Martz's offensive flaws. His offense with less talent is now nothing better/worse than Steve Spurrier's. sullijo says: October 26, 2010 4:54 PM Has anybody noticed that it appears that Cutler would rather hold the ball and take a sack vs. throw it away or risk an Int? I think he doesn't want to hurt his own stats and wants to get everybody thinking that it's not him, it's the O-line. His plan kept his INTs at only 4 last weekend....good job Jay! heyguru says: October 26, 2010 4:55 PM I was watching the game and I saw Martz adjust twice. Once he just kind of rolled it on his own, but the other time he reached down with his left hand, grabbed his cup, and clearly scooted it left to right about 3/4 of an inch. The man came up smiling, so some truths are universal. Thankfully for him, he wasn't going vertical at the time... Tim Couch says says: October 26, 2010 4:56 PM Their defense isn't far behind. Looks to me like 5-11 or 6-10. 18ALLDAY says: October 26, 2010 4:56 PM Even if the coordinator is bad and the play calling isn't he best you can overcome some of this with a good solid leader. Jay Cutler seems to concerned with how he looks than adapting, studying the defense while on the sideline, or showing any resembelance of a leader. All he does is strut onto the field twitching his shoulder like some d-bag. He reminds me of the overly obnoxious, too cool for school, athlete character in a bad teen movie who ends up getting replaced by the hardworking but dorky and less popular backup. gurnblanston says: October 26, 2010 4:57 PM Martz caught lightning in a bottle with Kurt Warner. He worked his vodoo on a team Dick Vermeil sent through the fire, emerging with a talented, disciplined group. The records and the championship can never be taken away. But, as a head coach and a coordinator since that magical team, Martz is the same old story. Unbelievable pig-headedness in his approach is his signature. Cutler should get a mysterious ailment worthy of IR in an attempt to save himself from Martz and his career-killing offense. Martz reminds me of that old Norv Turner quote, delivered after yet another humiliating Redskins loss, "What we do works." Turner has even out-Martzed Martz in turning the great fortune of overseeing a truly great team of truly great pieces (Turner riding Johnson, Aikman, Irvin, Smith, etc., to three titles; Martz riding Vermeil, Warner, Faulk, Holt, etc.) into a career of bamboozling desperate owners and general managers. Good luck, Bear fan. Good luck, Charger fan. Good luck, whichever fan has to endure one of these guys in the future. Trust me, I feel your pain. P.S. The above should in no way discourage Jerry Jones from hiring Norv Turner the minute he is let go by the Chargers. Hail! 4ever19 says: October 26, 2010 4:59 PM Martz's offense won't work because it has the worng QB. Cutler is this century's Jeff George - million dollar arm, 10 cent brain, 5 cent heart. Cutler just does not care. He picks up his check and checks his heart at the door. Zaggs says: October 26, 2010 5:02 PM "4. The Bears have allowed 31 sacks this year. The next closest team has allowed 21" To be fair almost half of those came from 1 game.
