  1. even if you leave last season out of it, youve got situational football errors starting with that 4th and 1 TE sneak against the Packers in the opener. All the short runs out of the gun. Managing 3rd and 4th and short. Keeping Sweat off the field at the end of the game because of the rotation. Calling games too safe. and three historic losses that were 99% wins. All of these are unforced errors. none of them is a result of the other team's players being better. Theyre all straight up mistakes. Add to this all the times we got outcoached and you've got PLENTY to fire him for even if you dont include last year.
  2. yeah thats how it played, like here I am, being honest, Eberflus sucks. It definitely gives the letter credibility.
  3. I've read that Warren is active in football operations. I'm sure he's not in the nitty gritty day to day stuff, but things like coaches and Justin I think he's going to weigh in on. I don't know if he will insist on his preference but I dont know that he won't either. I don't see how anyone can say what Warren will or won't do.
  4. I hope that you telling him you live outside Los Angeles doesnt do anything to your season ticket claim? But other than that, I gotta say, great letter. My favorite line was "I expect the Bears to be the best team in the NFL, not just kind of good enough every 10 years." And you left it as its own paragraph. Awesome. You said it all just right.
  5. hopefully Warren understands this, and with any luck Poles does too.
  6. I think youre probably right. Of course it often takes more than a week to find the replacement, because good assistant coaches are still with their teams in the playoffs, but if youre saying that firings are announced quickly, then I sure dont have any data that says otherwise. I just wonder, if they think they would keep Eberflus unless a top notch option appears, including Jim Harbaugh etc, then they might delay firing him until they had that in hand, but I admit Im just making guesses at scenarios, I havent seen any particular evidence or even info about that.
  7. yeah and it's not even about yesterdays loss. I always thought it was foolish to keep thinking the decision would be about the last game. I think that came from people who kept hoping they would turn it around, and just ran out of games. The thing is, in the NFL, you dont need to be bad to be fired. Simply average is good enough to get you fired. Youre looking for people, especially at QB and coach, who are difference makers. You dont survive in spite of them, you win because of them. I didnt see anything from either Flus or Fields that told me they were clear difference makers. I dont know why we want to hold on to either of them. The best argument for keeping Fields is the draft pick haul of trading down the #1 pick. Or a set of excuses that it wasnt his fault. No one can make the argument that Fields was actually a positive difference maker himself. Same with Eberflus. It was the growth of the players on the roster and the addition of Montez Sweat that made the difference. Time and again we got outcoached. Poor game management. Poor situational football. Hell we had three historically bad losses after losing big leads with chickenshit playcalling. This is not haterade, it's a fair analysis of how bad we've been. It's like playing 5 card draw, and you've got 2, 4, 7, 9 and Q. What could you lose by trading some cards in for the unknown? its not like youve got anything in your hand worth keeping.
  8. it does seem like we keep making the same mistakes over and over. Its new people trying it, but we have no organizational memory. How many OCs have come in thinking the WR screen was gonna be our thing? Over and over they try the same things, they dont look at film from the previous coaches. As an organization, we dont learn. We stay with the soft zones, we stay with the WR screens and we stay with the first year of a rookie QB matched to the last ear of a coaching staff. Please Poles, fire the coaching staff AND bring in a new QB to start at the same time as the new staff. At this point is anyone gonna be worse than what we've seen? What exactly is the risk here? Why are people trying to hang on to something that's working so poorly?
  9. i agree, the whole league already has a book on how to beat him, why would they pay big for him?
  10. its crazy. you talk about a professional opinion about Fields, the Packers made it the cornerstone of their strategy today. So the Packers coaching staff not only has that opinion, they actually bet their own butts on it. It's authentic.
  11. Eberflus has the locker room? Joquan Brisker, Bears SS (criticizing Eberflus' game plan) Demarcus Walker, Bears DE (unwilling to defend what they built this year) And can Justin play QB? Quay Walker, Packers LB (criticizing Field's ability to ever read past the first read, and the Packers basing their game plan on that!) "We know any time we can take away his first read, whether we're in man or zone, he's pretty much going to take off," Walker said. "And whenever we can keep him in the pocket and allow him just to play quarterback and not allow him to run, we've got a real, real good chance of winning the game once we can do that." https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/fields-faces-offseason-of-uncertainty-as-chicago-bears-debate-whether-to-take-a-qb-with-no-1-overall-pick/
  12. Id love to hear it quickly, Ill feel much better about it - but they might want to wait until they have the new guy to let Eberflus go, just to CYA. So I wouldnt necessarily take silence to mean Flus is back. Especially with prospective coaches in the playoffs and unavailable for negotiations etc
  13. one way or another, theres no particular reason to fire Eberflus immediately if you dont have to. You might still be 100% moving on from him, and waiting for the right candidate to sign etc, but its good practice to keep your bases covered until you dont have to. i wouldnt assume that if he isnt fired this week it means he is staying, but I also wouldnt be surprised if they find a new candidate quickly if thats what theyre looking for. The wild card (no pun intended) is coaches that the Bears could be interested in but cant pursue yet because their teams are in the playoffs.
  14. no, you're right. its high drama. We are at an inflection point - we could go way up or way down from here. A lot of teams picking number 1 have lots of problems to fix that a couple picks wont fix. But we truly are set up to make major change from here. If they keep Flooser, I think Poles is gone next year.
  15. oh i totally agree. When they say strip down I think like what Poles did last year getting rid of those guys on defense. ANd i dont think we need that. But now that I see thats not what you meant - Im 100% with you.
  16. that includes everything written on this board. and yet, we are still gonna talk about it. and it doesnt take an expert to see that Flooser and Fields need to go. It's hardly a difficult decision. It couldnt be more obvious.
  17. Fields is not a good NFL QB. Hes an amazing athlete, and people like him. But in the light of analysis, when you strip away the broken plays, and designed roll outs, when you get past the scripted plays, hes not good at all in the pocket. And the fact that he is SO much better in the scripted plays is a HUGE indictment on his football IQ.
  18. not if they want a good QB I agree
  19. nah we played along all year, wait and see, now the data is complete. dont tell us we cant say stuff because no one knows what Poles will do. Ill tell ya what, if poles brings Flus and Fields back, then Poles should be fired - hopefully before he signs those deals. Just tell Warren thats your plan and then pack your bags. And you know what? Poles is almost certainly smarter than that - unless he is blinded by loyalty. And thats been something Ive been concerned about. At some point you gotta decide if you are a fan of the players or the team. I'm a fan of the team. if the players are helping the team I love em. If not - NEXT.
  20. because if you have a three year plan and the coach is terrible after 2 years, you dont need to give them the whole 3 years! Its not about whats fairest to Floooser, its about whats best for the team. And anyone who needs to see more to know of this, well it boggles my mind.
  21. Flus has 17 more years to turn this around or Im gonna give him a stern talking to. Get outta here.
  22. no shit. I mean from the goose.
  23. Trade #1 down to #3, and take the QB there. Penix or Daniels and get a next years #1 in addition or a great player on a decent contract, WR or DL. According to the Hill chart, the #1 pick is worth 1000 points, and the #3 pick is worth half of that. Especially this year. So maybe 1 goes down to 3 for next years first AND a player. Then pick up what you need at #9, or trade that down for a lower first and a second. Grab a C with the 2nd rounder. And there is free agency coming too and Bears have like $80 Mil to spend. needs: QB, WR2, OC, OL, FS, DL
