  1. Please add some names and insight. I'm slowly looking into players for this draft. Round 3 Morgan Burnett FS Georgia Tech 6-1 209 4.58 (40) - good size/speed combo Reshad Jones FS Georgia 6-1 214 4.54 (40) TJ Ward FS Oregon 5-10 211 4.57 (40) Jared Veldheer OT Hillsdale 6-8 312 Jon Asamoah OG Illinois 6-4 305 - top Big Ten oline, but short arms Mike Johnson OG Alabama 6-6 312 Sevish Capers OT West Virginia 6-4 308 Perrish Cox CB Oklahoma St 5-11 195 4.53 (40) - Did well against good WR's, decent size/speed Syd'Quan Thompson CB California 5-9 186 4.52 Donavan Warren CB Michigan 5-11 193 4.59 Would love to see: Morgan Burnett FS (RD3) and Mike Johnson G (RD4) Sam Young OT (RD5) Brian Jackson CB/FS (RD6) Marcus Easly WR (RD7)
  2. It's really hard to fairly judge the CB's last season. There was the carousel of moving Graham, Tillman missed all of preseason with recovery from off season surgury, Bowman missed most of preseason with injury. The lack of pressure from the front 4 and the loss of Urlacher also magnified the deficency. I wouldn't call CB a top need unless they plan on moving Tillman. I think the Bears hang loose from now until the draft. They go in with their big board set as: RD3 1) FS - if their guy isn't their they shift their next thought to....... 2) CB- they can move Tillman to FS and start the season with Bowman/Graham as CB??(unless rookie can unseat) and Tillman/Alfava S. 3) OG- if FS and CB don't impress the Bears, OG becomes the target
  3. Everyone is using the Boldin trade to determine value for a player like Olsen. Boldin is much older, hit his peak (especially with Warner/Cards high power offense) and his contract is fairly high and he wants more $$. Olsen has two years remaining on his rookie contract, hasn't hit his peak yet and is showing some promise as an elite TE prospect. I'm not sure Olsen is worth a 2nd, but it's close IMO.
  4. I really like this one too! Covering the same needs just in a little different order.
  5. Using drafttek for slot selections, here is my mock after todays key FA signings. 2-47 (from New England/Olsen) Vladimir Ducasse OG UMass 3-75 Major Wright FS Florida 4-106 Mike Neal DT Pur 5-137 Marcus Easley WR UConn 6-171 Brian Jackson CB OKL 7-202 Erik Cook C New Mex Since the Bears addressed some key needs in FA, they will turn to the draft to add some youth to the mix. The decision to trade Greg Olsen was a tough one, but the Bears brass knew they would have to part ways when they decided to hire Mike Martz (thus the reasoning it took so long to decide). They recieved the second of New Englands second rounders and with that draft OG Vladimir Ducasse from U Mass. Ducasse is 6-4 332 and is more known for being a road grader, but can hold his own in pass protection. The Bears were hot on Antrel Rolles tail before FA officially started, but bowed out when he wouldn't budge on making 8 million a year and becoming the highest paid safety. They decided to pursue their FS in a deep draft and pick Major Wright from Florida. Jerry Angelo can't have a draft without a defensive lineman. In the fifth round, he selects Purdue DT Mike Neal. Neal has some speed and is also considered a tweener DT/DE. The Bears can put him in the redshirt closet for a year to see if Harris can come out of his funk. Marcus Easley is a raw WR prospect from Connecticut with some size and speed. 6-3 210, the Bears hope with time he can become the big target Cutler covets. Brian Jackson from Oklahoma is a nice size CB that can be physical. With the 7th RD pick, the Bears take NFL'er Ryan Cook's brother from New Mexico. Erik Cook can groom behind Kreutz and gives the Bears an option to keep Beekman as a backup swingman for C/G. This draft will only bring two guys they hope can contribute right away in Ducasse and Wright. The following guys will battle for ST's and practice squad positions if they don't get redshirted.
  6. Don't forget Hester has made the probowl too. Not as a position player, but his return abilities really carried us a long way on the Superbowl run.
  7. I don't understand why they can't give Iglesias a shot. From multiple reports out of the locker room, Iglesias has been tearing it up and preforming in practice. I know he's similiar to what Bennett offers, but you drafted him!!! I can't figure out this team and it frustrates me. JA was commended on these last couple of drafts on bringing in some talent. But for some reason, Lovie likes to take his time in bringing them in. So with that the case, as JA said himself, he sees nexts year roster pretty much staying the same. 2009 Gilbert, Iglesias, Moore, Knox, Afalava 2008 Williams, Forte, Bennett, Harrison, Bowman, Davis
  8. Thats the worst song ever, they even have the little bouncy ball to follow the words with. I hear ya on the price tag, would've been well worth it with a victory. We left early too, couldn't "BEAR" watching and when old men start talking trash to you, ya know its time.
  9. Who Dey, who dey! Went to that game also.....the half time trip to the bathroom was god awful. I thought if the Bears couldv'e came out with life that there were enough Bear fans there to make it like a home game. That was terrible. At least Sat night was fun, had dinner at the Brazilian Steak house and had Knox/Hester/Harris and others sitting next to us. That was cool. Also as we were hanging out at the Westin hotel, seen Virginia and Mike McCaskey walking into the hotel.
  10. I would really like to wait on Wale, I want to see him play for a contract extension b/c he never reached the level I expected from him when we traded/signed him. Maybe playing w/o security will step up his level. As for Idonje, it would be nice to see him get an extension.
  11. Sounds like a good idea and I think it would even be cooler if we can produce a mock draft that would be submitted to hailed redskins mock draft board. I'll be honest, I only watch a handful of college games mainly Notre Dame and Illinois. Then a game here or there when I'm bored on Sat. afternoons. If you get something going, I wouldn't mind chipping in.
  12. It's never too early to look into mocks it's only 364 days away lol.
  13. Mr Kiper also said the Bears had a good draft last year for what it's worth.
  14. Iglesias: He will get the most oppotunity and unlike Bennett, the Bears won't ask him to learn all 3 WR positions. With Iggy lining up opposite of Hester, I see him getting a lot of looks and he may be able to steal the"QB favorite" that Bennett had coming into this season. If Iglesias can develop the possesion go to guy, the Bears hit a jack pot as that should really improve Hester and Olsen's ability to get bigger openings. Bennett/Davis will probably battle for the slot. Gilbert: He will see the second most time rotating along the D line. Angelo sees him playing both inside and outside depending on situations. His athletic ability may really push Tommie at the 3 tech. and just b/c he's a little bigger doesn't mean he won't be able to get after the QB from the edge. His 40 time is pretty close to were Alex Brown's is around 4.74-4.81) Freeman: If he is 100% healthy and can digest the scheme quickly, I see Freeman knocking off Hillenmeyer/Roach b/c Lovie didn't seem to confident in either. The Bears had OLB prett high on there radar for a reason and Freeman will get his first shot on ST's and if he steps up there quickly, look for Lovie to make a shift shortly after as he likes to use how they play ST's as a gauge. Moore: DJ has a lot people to compete against for playing time. His best opportunity to dress on Sundays is if he can win a spot on ST's. If he gets on the field on ST's, he's about 2 injuries away for his audition and odds are pretty great he will see some action. He may also get in on some dime packages kind of like Steltz did from time to time, but I don't see him knocking off D Manning for the nickel. Alfavia, Melton, Knox, Kinder, and Louis may also find oppotunities, but I don't expect a whole lot from them until injuries start taking players out for a game or two. Out of this bunch, Knox and Melton will probably see a couple of play's a game, but as you know Lovie/Bears their chances will be slim.
  15. RD2-64 Major Wright FS Florida 6-1 205 RD3-96 Josh McNeil C/G Tenn 6-4 289 RD4-128 Ugo Chinasa DE OK St 6-6 255 RD5-160 Zac Robinson QB OK St 6-3 210 RD6-192 Jamar Chaney ILB Miss St. 6-1 238 RD7-224 Michael Jordan DE Mich St. 6-5 295 (just for the name, but Hester will have to give up his # which the nfl wants anyways)
  16. I also agree.....time to start getting ready for the 2010 class LOL. I think JA and Co. have put together back to back solid drafts and we'll start seeing dividends soon.
  17. Good reply LT2_3, and you can't have too much youth/inexperience starting especially with the addition of Cutler. I'm a draft Oline guy, but after Pace, Shaffer, and Omiyale signings there's not much room without releasing players. I will say next year we will need a G/C prospect which would be a good RD3 pick.
  18. Thanks for the info. I think we get down on some of our WR's too often, I'd like to see Marvin Harrison's profile as he has nothing special talent wise or size but he has solid hands and excellant route running.
  19. I agree, I liked the way we put Olsen in the backfield as a FB. Here's a formation: Hester WR Clark TE Pace LT Omiyale LG Kreutz C Buenning RG Williams RT Davis TE ..................................................................Cutler QB .................................................................Olsen FB ..................................................................Forte RB or Put Olsen at Hester's WR spot and put Louis as FB.
  20. 3-68 Michael Johnson DE 3-99 Juaquin Iglesias WR 4-105 David Bruton FS 4-119 DJ Moore CB 5-140 Johnny Knox WR 5-154 Marcus Freeman OLB 6-190 Vance Walker DT 7-246 Trevor Canfield OG 7-251 Derek Kinder WR
  21. I haven't looked too much at Freeman since I was looking more into Follett/Beckwith as LB options, but I'm starting to think he may be one of the steals of the draft. I was also kind of mad about passing on DE Michael Johnson as I think he could be turned into a feared pass rusher, but will with hold judgement until we see how Gilbert and Melton turn out.
  22. I don't think any jobs were on the line....just an opportunity for a team that is financialy sound. We still have about 20 million available. Just like the opportunity for Cutler, if we could've got Boldin for our 2nd they could've got a another star contributor for draft picks and of course $$ in the contract. I like the way JA operates, he'll keep the team cap sound and when oppotunities pop up, he'll look into them and make efforts. We might not here about most of them, but the guy does his home work.
  23. He played more as an offensive lineman, but project better as a TE. Probably a blocking TE like Gilmore was since Davis couldn't take off in the blocking department.
  24. Bears take Lance Lewis a TE out of SD ST
