  1. Exactly, I think the team will always consider an upgrade and they will put the best 5 out there. We've only added to this team by subtraction (omiyale cut) and that just don't cut it with all the pressure our QB's have taken. Even with Turner calling plays our QB's had little time in the pocket and we couldn't get that one yard for a 1st or TD.
  2. I hate to say it, but I see DE written all over RD1. The defensive line is rich is early talent and we can get a young center piece to bookend with Peppers. I really would love to see Coples, but there is no way he can fall to 19. I wouldn't be upset with Cordy Glenn either. I keep thinking back to Brandon Alberts and I was hoping we took him.
  3. Eagles OT Jason Peters tear achilles tendon out for 2012. This may have an impact on what OT's are available in the draft or FA. Maybe they sign McNeil or Bell in FA or look to draft Martin. Regardless, they will need to find a replacement and that takes away one OT we may like.
  4. Next year Bennett will be our #2. Thats why we extended him. We can want a better #2 playing opposite, but it won't happen. Maybe we draft someone to groom? but the Bears intentions are for him to be the #2 on the field after Marshall. Hester will look much better playing in the slot, if he can learn that. He should be a great #3 slot WR. If he cannot learn it, then Bennett will play more z while Hester plays Y. Either way, that a lot of $ in the WR position. My wild card thought is the signing of Thomas/Weems might be a sign the Bears try to deal Hester, but I can never see us getting good value from that.
  5. We already have our #2 and #3. I believe we are done at the WR position unless a steal is upgrade is available at a price to good to pass up. Marshall Bennett Hester Thomas Sanzenbacher Weems (KNOX-IR)
  6. CB is a need, but this defense does not need a RD1 talent for its philosphy. I think a RD3 pick plus Jennings would be sufficient. RD1 needs to be one of the following: DE: Quinton Coples, Nick Perry, or Whitney Mercilus Looks like we can be inline for a top tier DE. Coples wearing NC blue and his size reminds me of Pepper, Perry is a little smaller and more athletic, and Mercilus is a hometown boy that performed well in the Big-10 OLT: Jonathon Martin, Mike Adams, Cordy Glenn Chances are Martin will be long gone, but some mocks have had Adams available. Glenn can be drafted as a lock at G with possiblity of moving outside WR: Michael Floyd Some experts think he will be drafted anywhere from 14-22, we would have to really think about adding another big playmaker but the need isn't as high after Marshall. RD2: Bobby Massie OLT, Zebrie Sanders OLT, Vinny Curry DE, Justin Criner WR, Reuben Randle WR, Brian Quick WR RD3: Brandon Boykin CB, Casey Hayward CB, Trumaine Johnson CB, Marvin Jones WR, Marvin McNutt WR, Al Toon WR, AJ Jenkins WR, How I see the draft going: RD1- DE Quinton Coples RD2- OLT Zebrie Sanders RD3- WR Marvin McNutt RD4- CB Chase Minnefield RD5- TE Ladarius Green RD6- OLB Oliver Vernon RD7- OLB Josh Kaddu
  7. Agree Parker! If the Bears sign Royal, which I wouldn't hate, then I don't see them drafting a WR unless its after RD4. I think we need to find one in the draft and develop, like Hill, Marvin Jones, or Justin Criner. We are all ready to demote Hester to ST's only, but I think he will still play quite a bit as the #3 lined up in the slot. With Hester coming out of the slot, he will see he can get seperation and exploit LB's and S's with his speed. In the draft, I really see the Bears addressing 3 positions off the bat....DE/WR/OLT in BPA order. Then finding CB/S/LB/TE later. As for Weeps, he will never see the field as a WR unless it's due to injury. He is a great ST and if I remember right, ST's is part of the game?! Lovie has proved his formula of playing great ST's can win football games and that move was worth the coin. In FA, the Bears will still toy with adding a replacement for Barber like Bush, Okoye at DT or Spice Adams, Wimberly if he becomes available for DE, Hayden at CB, possibly a S, and maybe an improvement on the oline. I'm not saying all those positions, but what comes at the right price. Emery is a believer in the draft, so it might get real quite for a month or so.
  8. Not sure, but I heard we lost "our" 3rd and not the one from Carolina, which is better for us! Something about not being able to trade a pick acquired in a trade? Then according to the draft trade chart, trading a following years pick is equal to a round less than this years value....so next years third will have 4th round value.
  9. I'd give Enderle another year and I do not want to waste the 3rd QB spot on McCown. We need to develop! If we want to bring in an undrafted FA to challenge Enderle, thats fine. But NO to drafting a QB this year and NO to McCown!
  10. I figured all the Mario Williams talk was just smoke and really thought we go DJax because we weren't going w/ a rookie WR to be a #1 or with decent compliments like (Meachum, Royal, or even Manninham). I never thought Miami would give up their best offensive player.......and for two 3rds and think about next years third has an equal value as a 4th this year. Miami got robbed! Our next focus will be DE, S or OLT. Since we resigned Tim Jennings, I see the team drafting a CB early. Bears know how to make splashes!
  11. I look at it as if we draft a DE or a WR RD1, which one makes a bigger impact? I would have to go DE bc WR's usually take years to develop. So I read all this Mario Williams talk as a smoke screen and still see the Bears going with Vincent Jackson. Then we draft the Mercilus kid out of Illinois RD1 and a OLT RD2 or vice versa. Heres my scenerio: RD1: Whitney Mercilus DE or Jonathon Martin OLT RD2: Nick Perry DE/Vinny Curry DE or Zebrie Sanders OLT/Mitchell Schwartz RD3a: Marvin Jones WR/Brandon Boykin CB RD3b: Marvin McNutt WR/Trumain Johnson CB RD4: Ladarius Green TE RD5: Keenon Robinson OLB RD6: Dan Herron RB RD7: Mike Daniels DT Free Agency: Vincent Jackson WR, Kyle Orton QB, Mincy DE, Kellen Davis TE, Corey Graham CB, Craig Steltz S, Okoye DT
  12. Sure Finnegan is going to try to make some noise for himself, putting him with the top FA WR. He must think he's Lebron and VJax is Wade LMAO. He's beating the drum to get him noticed, thats it.
  13. I like the question. Peyton Manning will be going somewhere warm or with a dome, has pieces in place to win, and where he can have control of the offense. I see Arz, Mia, or the dark horse Hou landing Manning with the Dolphins as my favorite. I can picture Saturday and Wayne also going there. Giving him Marshall over the top, Wayne over the middle, and Davone Bess in the slot. Shift Pouncey to LG and draft RT round 1. Then draft Defense the rest of the way. Dolphins go from pretender to contender overnight.
  14. My source in New Orleans tells me: Manning will not play for Shanahan. He wants to be able to run his offense, which leads to Arizona with Wisenhunt. Also, Manning wants to avoid extra games outdoors. If Arz balks, then it's Miami where he has a home and teammate Reggie Wayne is looking to play there too.
  15. Agree Mad, we need something above what we have to improve otherwise its a whiff. WR depth chart: Earl Bennett Devin Hester Dane Sanzenbacher (Johnny Knox- but if he does return it'll be middle of the year-so doubtful)
  16. Last night on NFL network, they said his combine and pro day may put him into the bottom of the first round, if he's there with our 2nd and we didn't get Floyd RD1 we better not hesitate!
  17. Find another Big WR available that can take over a game and I can debate the two, but regardless of what VJax is/isn't I'm not letting him out of CHI unless we know there is a similiar or better option.
  18. We have the most bi polar fans I've seen. Now we don't want a big WR with experience?
  19. Not bad minus picks 6 and 7 which i could look elsewhere. I like this 7 round mock from newnfldraft.com, thought I'd share here instead of a new post. #1 Jonathan Martin OT Stanford - Smart, OLT #2 Marvin McNutt WR Iowa - Big WR, good speed and hands good character #3 Kendall Reyes DT UConn - Tweener DE/DT Built like Tommie Harris, just a little slower...but also stronger #3 Brandon Boykin CB Ga-Super athlete, great speed. Can return kicks and has played some big WR's very good for bn 5'9" #4 AJ Jenkins WR Illinois -Speedy WR, great hands #5 Tramain Thomas FS Ark 6-0 192 another body to compete in camp #6 Tony Jerod-Eddie DE Texas AM - Tweener DE/DT #7 Greg McCoy CB TCU- 5-10 182
  20. I love this offseason because everyone says cut Marion Barber and Matt Spaeth and save cap. They are currently our only RB and TE on the roster. Forte is almost a given to either be tagged or signed, but Kellen Davis and Kahil Bell are not givens to be back. They may look at the draft to improve both of those positions or FA, or try to resign them. OL is probably one of our deepest with contracts and bodies, but weakest in talent. With so many other holes, the oline may be ignored unless a top talent is available RD1 and we go BPA. Thats not what I want or think we should do, just what I can see with this team having so many holes.
  21. -I haven't heard much about Branch being looked at as a 3-4 OLB. Maybe Ingram will be there instead? -Fleener or Orson Charles, I'd try TE RD2 if we land VJax/Bowe. Charles is smaller with more speed. -I'd love to see Jordan White RD5, but a good combine might destroy that -Ortons heart is in Chi, but he knows he won't start. They say go with your heart lol! -I hope they extend Urlacher and maybe if Briggs too if he is a good boy -I just pointed out they will keep an eye on Meriweather but not necessarily sign him. We may need him as depth -Finnegan can still play, but like you said may decide to follow fischer
  22. Emery has evaluated his new team and he see's what needs to be done to not just win a Superbowl, but build a dynasty. First in order, he gets the FA Bears signed right away that he doesn't want to hesitate on Matt Forte Corey Graham Greg Steltz Amobi Okoye Kahil Bell He will keep a close eye on: Kellen Davis, Israel Idonje, and Brandon Merriweather but hold until after the draft Second is to make the splash in the market....with 15-22 million to spend PE thinks BIG Vincent Jackson WR -Bowe will get the franchise tag if he don't sign long term, KC has lots of cap space. Jackson won't be franchised, but will weigh his options before going back to SD to play catch with Rivers. This is were the Bears will have to give the Peppers treatment. Jackson may like the weather and his QB's arm, but the Bears can promise him more. We can promise him that with his hard work he can go anywhere he wants in his career. He has a QB that can deliver the ball, fans that will bronze him into a statue, a large market to capitalize on income, a city you can play in with other big name stars, and a team that is close to winning it all. I think the Bears can win him over SD and he will be our prize catch. Kyle Orton QB - Orton will be back in Chicago unless he feels he has a better chance of being a starter with another club. He has inquired with some Bears about their thoughts of him coming back and they are encouraging him to rejoin the club. I don't see him starting anywhere unless he goes back to Denver. Cortland Finnegan CB - He can play the Bears style D and can bring some nasty with him. The Bears lack Nasty until Urlacher gets pissed and I've only seen that once against ARZ on the SB run. Third is to find the best players in the draft with out reaching or hoping on they overcome an injury RD1 - Andre Branch DE 6-4 258 the Left Tackles and Floyd are off the board. DE is a big need and that's why I think the Bears hold off on resigning Idonje. Branch has size and explosion to get after the QB and can also play the run. Branch will grow off of Peppers and they will havoc opposing lines for years RD2 - Coby Fleener TE 6-6 350 with 3 WR's (Jackson,Bennett, Hester) the Bears don't need to go high on WR I have Jeffries still on the board, but they opt for TE. Fleener has size like Kellen Davis but with more talent. He is athletic and has top speed that will give him seperation and be a huge target in the endzone to go with Jackson. Davis can also be brought back if the price is right. RD3 - Dwight Jones WR 6-4 225 With Jones still on the board, the Bears can build a "SD" style receiving core. Jones is another big target the Bears can groom because with guys like Jackson,Hester, and Bennett you never know when they will be out with injury RD3 - Cliff Harris CB/PR 5-11 180 - Harris is an electric playmaker that missed most of this season because of law issues for driving on a suspended license. If he would have played this season, he'd be talked about going RD1. The Bears need to keep the ST alive if Hester goes down and Harris can fill that right off the bat while competing for CB/Nickelback. RD4 - Mitchell Schwartz OLT 6-5 317 - Schwartz had a nice senior bowl and showed he has the mobility and size to play OLT. Tice can groom him to compete with Webb and they can send OMG out the door to save cap space. RD5 - Jordan White WR 6-0 212 - White led the NCAA in receptions and yards and 2nd in TD's. Another talent to groom and he'll compete with Sanzenbacher for the final WR spot. RD6- Chris Marve ILB 6-2 232 - Good speed and instincts and fits a cover 2 defense RD7 - Demario Davis OLB 6-3 231 - A great LB in the Sun Belt Conference and athletic. Out of the draft, the Bears filled some big needs. They hoped for Mike Adams OLT to last until 19 but were able to fill another hole at DE. They feel they have added 3 guys that can contribute right away and have added guys that can compete for depth. Since no major holes were filled in the oline, I think they may bring in McNeil if he gets cut for a look.
  23. Ive said this before and my thoughts are like Jason's. Bowe/VJax first choices Colston/SJohnson second tier If those guys are gone then: Meachum but trade up to get Floyd in RD1 Meachum Bennett Floyd Moss/Owens-I really can't see this and how one will get enough snaps Hester Sanzenbacher
  24. The oline is a disaster but like you said bodies are signed and will need to be cut if we bring more in. With WR/RB/TE we don't have bodies signed, can you imagine if Bennett didn't sign his extension we'd be in worse shape. The Bears have really dropped the ball on the offensive side, it's unbelievable how bad it looks contract/player wise. I hope PE is offensive strong minded and can get this sorted out with a couple of years.
