Week 15 Official Game Thread - Bears at Browns, DEC 17th, 12pm, FOX, CHI +3, O/U 37
Losing Jenkins doesn't help, at least Whitehair is a solid backup. They will need a reliable backup next year to eventually replace Davis or Jenkins in 25

QB Decision Poll
I chose 1, it will be a huge blessing if they can still draft MHJ, get a future 1st, and a 2nd this year, if not more, and take a QB later. The Bears still need more blue chips to help make any scenario work whether they go Caleb Williams or Fields. They cannot go with Mooney as a #2 or Patrick at C.

It must have been out of Santos range today is all I can think. You do not pads on any points this early. Even getting the ball back after the half.

I am saying the 25 million 5th year option signed. Still draft a QB, but trade down and gain a future 1st for 2025, and whatever haul they can get. You have Fields for 2024 and 2025 and a rookie to groom. If Fields lights it up you have a good problem and hopefully a good backup. When his contract expires after 2025, you are either signing him to a huge contract or he signed elsewhere and the Bears will get a 3rd rd comp pick. You double down on having that position set.

I though we had some of the best road graders, Davis was handled by Tomlinson.

Extended play, something great QBs can do ?

Yes, I think this is what many of us see. If Fields improves with competition and he costs more to extend, then it is a great problem to have. If not, then in 2025 Fields walks as a FA. All while in 24 you have a prospect cooking.

And Flacco throws a pick

Trade down this year and still draft a QB. This class has 6 or so that can go round 1. We traded up for Trubisky all while KC took Mahomes 10th in that class. The top spot does not mean you get the best.

Only 7 lost fumbles in his career. Lucky yes. Flacco fumbles too. Taylor muffed a punt... gonna be some balls slipping out in the rain

And you have a rookie QB contract, so if you feel good with him you can swallow 25 million for the rest of the year. The Chiefs had Alex Smith signed for 2 more years and drafted Mahomes in 2017. In 2018, Mahomes started on Smiths last year so his salary was on the bench. Smith walked in 2019 and signed w Washington for 94 mil. Let's say the Bears trade out of 1, draft McCarthy or Daniel's at 10. Role with Fields in 2024 and see what 2025 brings. If you lose 25 million and get a Mahomes type, then it's OK to let him walk.

If JF holds out, then you have that insurance drafted. If he walks and signs elsewhere, then the Bears get a 3rd rd compensation pick which is better than nothing. The Bears could trade him in 2025 if they feel good with the drafted qbs progress. There isn't a set in stone process, there are alway options. Poles might go your route too but he would be betting his future on an unknown being ready to carry the team that is starting to show they can compete.

Trading the QB you have and drafting an unknown will not sit good with fans that deserve a great product that is starting to show fruit. The Bears can and should select a QB but there is no reason to reset the team because it might cost 25 million in 2 years. If they draft a good prospect, then JF1 has to excel to keep his job. That to me seems like a great way to bring the cream to the top and give Chicago something they have never seen in having a QB pipeline.

I he signs a friendly WR3 type deal and the Bears add a decent WR 1 or 2, he should look better.

We will see, 4 games to go and If they continue playing well I do not see the GM worrying about salary cap implications over the most important position. They will draft a QB somewhere in this draft so they have insurance. If Fields craps these last 4, then the I can see your scenario. I am good if they move on from Mooney too, they need a legit #2 with some length. Mooney as the 3 would be fine, but Scott should be ready for a larger role.

Trade NE, who reportedly will part ways with Belichick or ARZ. Those two will be at the bottom, imo, next year. Get a future 1st and a 2nd this year to move down and get MHJ, Alt, or a QB. I don't want to see a team on the verge to contend in the playoffs to step back. I want to see them use their draft assets to continue adding future high picks.

Finally watching the Bears vs Lions game from last Sunday since you don't see everything from the stands. I am on board to resign RB Foreman. Go jnto 2024 with Foreman, Johnson and Herbert again. Maybe take a late round flyer on a explosive change of pace RB. Also, Fields had another + in my books. 4 games to go and if they keep playing well and get those W's I think you have to give this group another shot.

I would love in the mid-1st Jaylen Daniels or 2nd rd Ewers. Depends on what the Bears want. Daniel's is going to be more of a mobile QB, I'd say similiar to JF. Ewers is a pocket QB. With Getsy being a GB system guy, I'd say a pure pocket QB is his direction. I wish the Bears had a OC that designed the system to fit the player more like Bal with Jackson or Harbaugh w Kapernick.

I seen he was fired at the half?! He deserves to be. Chargers have stunk and Eckler was my biggest FF disappointment

Jaylon Johnson Extended?
Greg Gabriel called the guy out who created that rumor tweet and that guy basically said it was for fun. It's football.. a game...not a big deal.

Legette is now hovering round 1 and Corley round 2. I wouldn't be upset with a Daniels and WR Nabor.

He is a fun segment on the score on Mondays and seems very likeable. They always try to get him to leak dirt but he is smart enough to keep his lips zipped. I am glad he is getting the ints. They will come as the defense improves pressure and can stop the run. The Bears D was not too good at that until recently.

I am leaning Jayden Daniel's over the others. After the ND game, Caleb dropped in my books, and he was contained the next few games against Utah and Washington.

I know schools scare us, but Oregon has a Center that seems legit. He will go rd2 or 3, but a thought after Van Pran if he goes sooner.

Fields-O-Meter
We have not seen the one, two, fire JF, I agree. He has handcuffed himself or he has been instructed to be hesitant, meaning if they don't want him throwing unless he is sure. They are playing not to lose after their ugly start that had them hampered with injuries. These coaches are also fighting for their jobs too and turn overs are the top way to lose. Their formula has just started to show it works and 3 or 4 more wins, they might sneak into the playoffs.
