Jimmy Graham a Bear
I'm listening to his press conference. He said his knee feels the best it has felt in 4 years. I can only say this, when I watch his highlights it still seems like he is dragging his left leg a bit. His knee injury was to his right leg. He's not nearly as agile as he used to be of course but in a straight line he did show more speed than he had in his last years in Seattle. He's still good enough to win with his size, smarts, and hopefully with Nagy by taking advantage of his chances when the scheme gets him open to give us some big plays. I don't see any jump-ball receptions but at his height you can still throw him open above a DB. If we were paying him half of what we are paying him I don't think anyone would have an issue at all with this signing. At least I wouldn't. He gives us a floor in production at the position that is much higher than anything we saw last year. Why is Ryan Pace hanging onto Shaheen? We need cap space. We usually are respectful of allowing players to test the market in early in FA once we decide we no longer want them around. What's are we gaining by keeping him on the roster? I feel like he's waiting to see if he can make some draft day deals. He's not going to trade him outright so the only thing I can think of is that Shaheen packaged along with a Day 3 pick we might be able to move up higher in a given round. Even that's questionable.

Germain Ifedi, OL, signs one year deal
I have no idea what Pace offered him but I suspect it's a shot to start at RG. Long term if he makes it there but still has enough to be emergency backup OT on game day that's a win.

Germain Ifedi, OL, signs one year deal
We moved off Roquan right quick.

Teddy Bridgewater the new Bears QB?
I don't want someone like Bridgewater who wants the job handed to him either.

Remaining Offseason Moves
"Tryout" is pretty low risk but he's definitely not a system QB like they need. Yet one of the reasons Bill B. wins is he will adapt to the players on his roster. I could even see him running a 2 QB system with different style QBs.

Remaining Offseason Moves
However cheap a QB who can't throw can be. For all the complaints about Mitch's inaccuracy Newton was far worse last year. He never adapted to that new throwing motion that was required after his shoulder surgery and there's no reason to be confident he ever will.

Offensive Line
There would be more confidence in Bars if he had beaten out Coward for the spot last year. That was a pretty low bar since Coward had never played at OG since his conversion from Dline. At this point in FA I have to agree that this was clearly not Pace's biggest concern so there must be some confidence in Bars.

Holy Crap.
At one point someone asked if you could weld metal to plastic. Better question is can we weld Foles' head onto Trubisky's body?

Houston-Carson back in the fold
Meh but he's good on special teams. I hope he has competition for a roster spot.

Brent Urban, DL, re-signed
Unless something or someone very opportunistic (and cheap) happens I think we're done here: Nichols, Goldman, Hicks with RRH, Abdullah, and now Urban as backups

Brent Urban, DL, re-signed
She's his PR agent as well. It's a good depth signing.
-
Barkevious Mingo, LB, signed
Like Floyd he has enough athleticism to catch someone if they flush him his way.
-
Barkevious Mingo, LB, signed
Reading around the web it appears Mingo will be a core special teams player..something we didn't get anything from Lynch so that's a plus.

Bears SIgn Chiefs Safety Jordan Lucas
Yes soon we will be in that lull before the draft where teams wait to see who they draft before filling out the roster on min-type deals. As a player you don't want to fall into that gap, at least I wouldn't because sometimes you get left on the outside looking in. IIRC it was about this time last year we signed HHCD.

Remaining Offseason Moves
Excellent summary. It feels like we will find one decent vet OG soon or right after the draft. I'd still like a good SS if we can squeeze that in, but it appears it will be either a decent SS or OG because I don't think we can do both. I saw one mock that had us taking S Grant Delpit at #43. That's a 1st Rd talent if he drops and he would make our secondary really good.

Remaining Offseason Moves
I believe there is a discount or reduced hit against the cap but they still count. Not sure if that was revised in the new CBA.

Barkevious Mingo, LB, signed
Wow. In many ways , he's an equal to Leonard Floyd. I don't know what happened to him last year but the two years prior, a little less on the sacks. 2017: 47 tackles, 35 solo 2 sacks 2018: 48 tackles, 37 solo 1 sacks Floyd: 2018: 47 tackles, 34 solo 4 sacks 2019: 40 tackles, 27 solo 3 sacks And a whole lot cheaper. This has to be close to a vet min deal but he's not a bad 3rd wheel considering what we lived with last year in Lynch. It let's Quinn and Mack do the real hunting when it's needed most. Now we can add one more in the draft and there are some decent OLB prospects even down into Day 3.

Bears SIgn Chiefs Safety Jordan Lucas
From what I've read he's a career backup S, and a decent one at that but also good on special teams. I'd say we have our depth at Safety now with Bush and Lucas but we need a starting partner for BoJack. I'd love to see Vonn Bell on this defense but I don't see anyway we can afford him. He's another player in the mold of Trevathan not real flashy but smart and in the right position to do his job.

Bears Resign Deon Bush to 1-year deal
We'll be drafting a RB. The kid from Memphis Antonio Gibson or later AJ Dillon are my targets on day 3. We have to draft someone from Memphis don't we?
-
Irving Returns 1yr Deal
Never felt he had the athletic tools to do much. He's only good in a straight line, doesn't really have the size or strength to do much head on either. He's not that much different from Irving.

Artie Burns, CB signs with Bears
Just searched nothing yet....but Spotrac did list his value at $1mil so maybe you are right.
-
Artie Burns, CB signs with Bears
I suspect he's earning at least $3-4mil.
-
Bears Resign Deon Bush to 1-year deal
Yes we could do that with this defense. Just make it elite because all the right pieces are there. Get a running game and let it ride with a mediocre QB. Many Superbowls have been won on the back of a great D.

Bears Resign Deon Bush to 1-year deal
Pace is laying low as usual. There have been rumors over at DBB that Robinson's extension has been agreed upon but not announced because the Bears have to complete some other deals to clear cap space. No matter what Pace does we won't find a lot more space. Burns' deal might prevent us from signing one the best remaining safeties. https://twitter.com/dabearsblog?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^embeddedtimeline|twterm^profile%3Adabearsblog&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fdabearsblog.com%2F
