  1. Posted 9 minutes ago Bills fire Jauron after dismal 3-6 start NFL.com Wire Reports The Buffalo Bills have fired coach Dick Jauron, a team source told NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. Defensive coordinator Fewell Perry is expected to become the Bills' interim head coach, a Bills source told NFL.com's Vic Carucci. In just short of four seasons with the Bills, Jauron compiled a record of 24-33 (.421 winning percentage). The Bills failed to make the playoffs in each season under Jauron. Buffalo has not made the playoffs since 1999, the longest active streak for a non-expansion team. On Monday, defensive end Aaron Schobel questioned the Bills' lack of direction with seven games remaining in their season. "It's embarrassing," said Schobel, the longest-tenured player on the Bills roster, a day after a 41-17 loss at Tennessee dropped Buffalo's record to 3-6. "I mean, we're technically, mathematically still in it, I guess, but it's like what ... are we doing here?" Speaking within earshot of several Bills officials near the entrance of the locker room, Schobel expressed his frustration, but stopped short in explaining what he thinks the franchise's problems are by saying: "That's about all I can say without saying what I want to say." Receiver Terrell Owens was also upset following the latest loss during which he had an animated exchange with several coaches on the sideline.
  2. Willams agent Bill Johnson also represents Ryan Clady who was drafted 2 spots ahead of Williams and the talk in Denver is that Clady is close to sign, so I think Clady is Johnsons #1 priority right now. My guess is that Chris will sign Thursday next week at the latest. Bill Johnson also represents Urlacher btw.
  3. Sayonara... Report: Cedric Benson arrested on drunken driving charges June 7, 2008 BY SUN-TIMES STAFF The Austin American-Statesman is reporting that Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson was arrested last night on drunken driving charges in Austin. Benson was arrested last month in Texas for boating while intoxicated. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...son0608080.stng Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson arrested on drunken driving charge By Tony Plohetski | Saturday, June 7, 2008, 08:47 AM Chicago Bears and former University of Texas running back Cedric Benson was arrested and charged with drunken driving in downtown Austin, police said. Austin police spokeswoman Veneza Aguinaga said Benson was stopped overnight at 5th and Colorado Streets for a traffic violation and refused a breathalyzer and blood test. Benson was arrested and taken to the Travis County Jail. He was released around 9 a.m. this morning on bond, jail officials said. The arrest comes a month after Benson was arrested on Lake Travis on charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting arrest, both class B misdemeanors. Those cases are still pending. Benson was a first-round Bears draft pick in 2005 and started 11 games last season for the team. At the University of Texas, he was a four-year starter and ranks as the school’s second all-time rusher with 5,540 yards. http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/sha...g_back_ced.html

  7. Bears move fan convention to Soldier Field, push back to June The Bears are moving the site of their annual fan convention to Soldier Field. The event, which was a sellout last spring for the first time, had been held at the Hilton and Towers since its inception. Now, the franchise will have more time to put a disappointing season behind before the rah-rah for the 2008 campaign begins. The team said there will be more room for events at the stadium. The event, which typically was held in March or early April, has been pushed back to June 7-8. This should make it easier for the organization to attract players on the current roster to the event. This will fall during the team's OTA's, which essentially require players to be at Halas Hall four days per week. It will also mean 2008 draft picks will be able to attend. Previous conventions were always held prior to the April draft. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2007/12/be...ntion_to_s.html
  8. Bush won't play by Jimmy Smith, The Times-Picayune Staff writer Friday December 28, 2007, 1:37 PM Saints tailback Reggie Bush missed practice for the third straight day on Friday and has been ruled out of Sunday's regular-season finale at Chicago, Coach Sean Payton said. Early reports following diagnosis of Bush's torn left posterior cruciate ligament had his missing the rest of the regular season four weeks ago, though the Saints initially dismissed those stories as premature. Tailback Aaron Stecker was excused from practice to attend funeral services for his father-in-law in Wisconsin. Stecker missed Wedneday and Thursday practices with a severe turf toe injury and is listed as "questionable" for the Bears. Payton, however, said Stecker's availability would be a game-time decision and he was not concerned that Stecker did not take part in any practice sessions this week. "I think he's smart enough," Payton said of Stecker. "We'll have to look at the reps and how many (plays) he can go. A lot of them will plays he's comfortable with, plays that he knows that we'll highlight on the call sheet. Certainly you'll see a lot of Pierre Thomas and we'll go from there." Payton said the likely tailback rotation would include recently signed Chris Barclay, in addition to Stecker, Thomas and fullback Mike Karney. http://www.nola.com/sports/index.ssf/2007/..._wont_play.html
