  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Faneca and Hutchinson both continued to be top shelf pro bowl guards after they were signed. You didn't hear much about them because they were guards. The impression I get from Bushrod is that he's a starting caliber NFL LT. He's solid but far from great. He's immediately the best o-lineman the Bears have, but that ain't saying much. We had to over-pay for him because of our need. I'm not complaining about the signing, I'm just saying we acknowledge that we can do much better at LT. We are hoping Long is that guy.
  2. It could also mean that we don't think Bushrod is that good. Granted, he's by far the best offensive lineman the Bears have. Signing a LT was a desperate need. Getting a pro gowl LT for 5 years 35 million seems to good to be true. Especially when Andy Levitre signed for 6 years, 46 million. Heck, back in 2004, John Tait as a RT signed for 5 years 34 million. (I concede that I'm not breaking down the numbers in any of these deals)
  3. You want a 5th round pick to be our opening day starting RT? That's one helluva a stretch IMO.

    Picks 6+7

Too bad Swope is gone. But at this point I'm convinced we have no desire to have a small speed WR to stretch the field. Unless we like the idea of Weems doing that. We also don't like the idea of a two TE set. I'm guessing we are going to see Hester taking limited reps at WR
  5. Wow. If you were an offensive lineman on the Bears last season, you have officially been put on watch.
  6. Do we ever take the guy we are all hoping for? I look for us to take a running back . . .
  7. To the Falcons. No details yet
  8. PFW projects Bostic as a MLB. If that's the case, this makes sense. What's head-scratching about this is that Greene was projected as a 2nd-3rd rounder and Bostic a 3rd to 4th rounder. So we take Bostic in the 2nd and Greene in the 4th. They have almost identical size and speed.
  9. I'm shocked Jones is still available. If we took him, he'd likely replace Garza in a year.
  10. I'd have been good with Schwenkke. Has Matt Slauson ever played Center? We are getting so many big and tall offensive lineman. Britton, Long, et...I'm wondering who the back-up center will be.
  11. Nassib would be one helluva a value pick and it would take care of our need for a back-up QB. I'd be happy with that pick. Round #4 would be early for Collins . . . that means we will probably trade up to get him in the 4th round.
  12. Ace Sanders to the Jags. He's a quick WR and return man. He's a guy I'd have thought the Bears might be interested in getting.
  13. There are 5 minutes in each round. I'm guessing it will be 90 minutes before we pick.
  14. We need a guy who can make a significant impact immediately. One of the frustrating things about Long and Bostic is I don't see either of them starting this year. IMO we need to get a speed WR who can stretch the field. His main role should be to run deep. I'd love to see Ryan Swope from Texas A&M. He ran a 4.34 at the combine.
  15. Another goddamn reach. Why is this a good pick?
  16. Giants on the clock. Bears up next. I'd still love Brown or Allen. We'll likely pick neither . . .
  17. That'd be damn interesting if we went Barkley. How much longer can he last? With Arthur Brown and Keenan Allen, I can't see us drafting a back-up QB. That being said, after the pick we will all probably be saying, WTF?
  18. Kiko Alonso to the Bills. That's a MAJOR reach.
  19. If I remember correctly, Terra did love the Greg Olsen pick, Alshon Jeffrey, and Gabe Carimi. The other 100 picks in the time he's been on here he has hated.
  20. Great list above. Give me Arthur Brown or Keenan Allen
  21. Te'o gone damnit. I'd have been happy if the Bears had taken him #50
  22. I have to agree with you. If you don't have a competent back-up you are screwed. We paid Jason Cambell 3.8 million. A 2nd rounder is comparatively cheap. If they are decent, you can trade them. Back-up QB's have a ton of value. My first choice would be a speed WR who can take the top off of a defense. I'd be happy with Stedman Bailey from West Virginia.
  23. Ogletree is gone. Was it Dallas?
  24. That is three immediate starters. We take a guy who is likely to be inactive most of the season. And he was drafted before any of Minny's 3 immediate starters. This is the 2nd year in a row we have reached on a "project" type player in the first round. Emery said you want to draft starters in rounds 1 and 2, but nobody ever thought McClellin would start. Raise your hand if you think Long is a starter this year?
