  1. What's concerning is that the SCORE and ESPN radio Peoria both speculated that Urlacher is having surgery or going to see a specialist. While that's just speculation, sometimes these guys hear rumors that they can't report. Further speculation is that he's possibly done for the season. Granted, it's just speculation and I hope like hell it's just that. It's concerning.
  2. Sanz would be the 6th WR since Marshall, Hester, Bennett, Jeffrey, and Weems are already a lock. Although right now he's probably a better WR then Weems or Jeffrey. In 2007 we kept Mike Hass as a 6th WR, and he was deactivated until like week 17. He wasn't a special teams player either.
  3. I've never been a big Sanzenbacher fan, but based on watching two training camp practices, right now, Sanz is one helluva a lot better then Jeffrey. Jeffrey's hands don't look good when pressured by NFL cornerbacks and he can't get off the line of scrimmage. Jeffrey looks somewhat clumsy. Sanz is just a very slick route runner the way that Earl Bennett is and does have elusive speed. Not to mention he has a good rapport with Cutler. I don't mean to knock Jeffrey, he can be great. Hopefully by week #1. But right now he's struggling as a rookie.
  4. How far out of town? I live near Peoria and it's broadcast on the local NBC channel.
  5. Thanks for the info. There was a nice article in the Trib about how good Corey Wootton (although we heard that last year) and other d-linemen like Paea and Mcclellen are looking. At this point Walker is likely trying out for the practice squad.
  6. Excellent! I pm'ed you, but in case you don't get it, you can reach me at bradjock@yahoo.com
  7. I have to agree. Although Larry Fitzgerald's a beast. While anything can happen, that should be a victory for the Bears.
  8. I disagree for a few reasons. Sanz is a better receiver right now then Weems or Jeffrey and has a better rapport with Cutler. When I first heard the news about Devin Thomas, I wondered if he quit knowing he wasn't going to make the team We let Rashied Davis go last year in favor of Sam Hurd. We already have already added Eric Weems and Blake Costonzo. Sanzenbacher is cheaper and has more potential. If we cut Sanz, another team will snatch him up in a heardbeat. If we cut Rashied, he'll be hanging out with Dez Clark. Speaking of Dez, last year at this time we signed him only to dump him a month later. This deal reminds me of that one. Don't get me wrong, I like Rashied. In 2006 I had to apologize to Crackerdog many times for writing him off.
  9. Listening to ESPN Radio 1000, Brittan Golden is getting hyped up quite a bit. The thought is that most years he'd be a lock to make the team. They speculated he would have a mysterious injury forcing him to go on injured reserve. (if he's a player on IR, isn't he guaranteed to make the rookie minimum?) I went to training camp today (2nd time) and Sanzenbacher was running with the #1's quite a bit. Cutler targeted him again and again. At least for today, I'd guess that Cutler targeted Dane more than Mashall. Things change in this league very quickly, but I'll be surprised if Sanzenbacher doesn't make it.
  10. I'd argue there's less to discuss. This team is very deep. The only position battle was J-Webb vs. C Williams (which appears to be over). The offense and defense both look damn good. When the team sucks there's a lot more to talk about.
  11. I'll be happy to join the 2nd league if you need an extra body.
  12. I will say that we shouldn't keep trades out of the question. Our defense is old and our offense is primed to excel. We have a shot to win it and if a player comes available that will put us over the top we should do it. That being said, no impact player will be available this time of year. I applauded JA for trading for Gaines Adams for a #2. We had a damn good record at the time and our pass rush needed a boost. Awful trade. The only good thing that came from it was we were motivated to sign Peppers. I also loved it when we signed Brandon Merriweather . . . awful. We do have depth at certain spots. IMO TE Kyle Adams, WR Dane Sanzebacher, and DE Corey Wootton are all expendable and have value. If James Brown shows promise, we may have an extra OG That's likely the type of trade we are looking to make. Someone we will likely cut who will give us a draft pick for next year.
  13. I'd be shocked if this happens. Not only is Hester the best return man to ever play the game, but he is clearly our 3rd best WR. He could be huge this year as the #3 option instead of the #1. On a side note, I went to camp Friday and Alshon Jeffrey reminds me of Justin Gage his rookie year. Big, slow, and uncertain of himself. He has a long way to go if he is going to contribute this year.
  14. But that couldn't have been what she was talking about since Otah was already traded to the Jets for a 7th rounder. After that deal was made, we gave our 7th rounder for Brian Price. The deal to the Jets may not go through since Otah can't pass his physical. So would we give up our 6th round for him? What are we offering? Something else to consider is that it's tough to see us giving up any more draft picks lightly. We are down to 5 picks after giving up our 3rd for Marshall and our 7th for Price. Don't get me wrong, bother were great deals. But considering we are supposedly a draft driven team . . . .
  15. I agree 100% and I stated as much earlier. That being said, Webb got most of the time with the #1's today. It's early though.
  16. Agreed 100%. The only real camp battle is C Williams vs. J Webb. IMO that's a farce and C Williams has the job. J Webb will be the swing tackle/back-up and pending injury, that's your line-up.
  17. I'm in! I've been at the lake the last week and missed the invite (which went to my spam folder)
  18. Never mind. I'm in! It was buried deep in my spam folder. In order to research, I've spent the last week reading fantasy football magazines at Lake Shelbyville so I've been off the grid.
  19. DrunkBomber, I've been looking for the invite and can't find it. Could you please send another? My e-mail is bradjock@yahoo.com Last year I was "TELLMARTZ SAYF*CKHIM." Thankfully Martz is gone and I'll be updating my team name. Thanks for organizing this! bradjock
  20. I'm glad you brought up Rosenbloom. I think he's way off base. His argument is that it's easy to find good ones cheap. The thing is, we've actually paid for good back-up running backs and they stunk. Chester Taylor, Marion Barber, Kevin Jones. There was a distinct and noticeable difference between Forte and these guys. Hell, if we'd had Forte for the Denver game, we make the playoffs IMO. There for a while New England had luck with retreads, but they've been drafting guys early lately and they still suck. Other teams like Washington and Green Bay keep swinging and missing. More importantly this deal helps our cap situation. I just hope he stays healthy and hungry.
  21. If you live in the Chicago area and keep basic cable, you can watch the Thursday night games on TBS or TNT (I can't remember which one). Prior to a year or two ago, you had to have NFL Network but now they broadcast them locally. I live 180+ miles south west of soldier field near Peoria and I get it through my basic cable. Before this, I remember being glued to my radio for the Thursday night games. I don't think we would see a NY vs. Dallas mathup on Thursday without NFL Network but you should be good with the Bears.
  22. Have you been to other camps? I'm curious as to how they compare. I went to visit the Rams in Macomb when they practiced with the Bears. Their camp seemed comparable.
  23. Okoye didn't cost a lot. He signed a one year deal for 2 million. That being said, I don't think bringing in these 3 guys excludes us from bringing in Tommie Harris, Anthony Adams, or whoever else is available. These 3 are just a little more desperate for an opportunity.
  24. Except we typically carry 5 DT's. Last year it was Paea, Melton, Okoye, Adams and Toeneia. The previous year it was Harris, Melton, Adams, Toeneia and Marcus Harrison. We could easily add Tommie Harris as a nickel down tackle and add one player.
