  1. If we feel the best player available has the chance to be a game changing TE who can stretch the field, isn't it worth it? My thought is the o-linemen who were available in the 4th weren't better than the guys we have.
  2. The thinking is we need to add competition to the position. Without checking the roster, aren't J Webb and Carimi the only two players we even list as an offensive tackle?
  3. How nobody has commented that Rodriguez was kicked out of his first school after a felony assault of a female dorm worker?
  4. Evan Rodriguez Probably a TE. He's 6-1 1/2 weights 244
  5. Some have him listed as a fullback others a TE. Was "upgrade Tyler Clutts" on our to do list? Was there no long snapper worth taking in the 4th round?
  6. Agreed it's so nice to have a posiition of strength. Normally we'd draft Jeffrey and talk about him as being our #1. Hell, we drafted Mark Bradley in round #2 and needed him to be an impact WR. Jeffrey will not have the job handed to him and he'll have pretty good competition. We're hoping he'll be great, but we're not desperate for him to be great.
  7. Zebrie Sanders would be a damn nice pick IMO.
  8. Hey, those first and 3rd rounders are blue chip special teams players. I look for us to pad our special teams in round #4.
  9. We keep trying to compare McClellin to different players. Is he comparable to Osi Umeniora from the Giants (I know I botched the spelling of his name).
  10. This is a big pick since we have no 5th rounder and you don't expect much from your 6th & 7th round guys. It's important we get a guy who sticks here.
  11. Good post! I also wouldn't be surprised if we resigned Anthony Adams. Even if we draft somebody, we're still thin at DT. This team is one helluva a lot better then it was when the season ended.
  12. Tells me we targeted a speed rusher in round #1 and never serioiusly considered other positiouns. Of the guys we looked at, Bruce Irvin and Melvin Ingram are similar to McCllellin in they are too small for our scheme. Then there is Donta' Hightower who is comparable to those three as a big edge rushing linebacker. Either way, this was a well thought out plan on our part. We decided early on that it was worth spending the 19th pick on a situational pass rusher.
  13. As per the SCORE, McClellin doesn't have the wide frame that other guys the same height have. He also lacks ideal DE strength. He did something like 19 reps which is good for a linebacker but bad for a DE. They also say when he lines up with his hand on the ground, he gets taken out easily. Fortunately, IMO, the main thing we'll ask him to do his rookie year is beat the edge and get to the QB.
  14. Possibly. However, I suspect we're more interested in using his size to match up with all the dynamic TE's who seem to always tear the Bears apart. Seemingly our only answer to the TE's is to put the strong side linebacker on them, like Nick Roach, who doesn't have the speed. Or put the nickel back on them, which in our case is DJ Moore, who at 5-9 has trouble matching up with 6-5. If we have a 6-3 strong safety we can put on the TE in passing downs, that'd help.
  15. Didn't taking Conte in the 3rd round last year turn out pretty good? You figure we're a lock to take a DT in round #4.
  16. Particularly since we are satisfied with Major Wright and Chris Conte as our starting safeties. The assumption was we would look to add depth at the safety position. You fill that need in the 6th round.
  17. He was talking about expectations. Hell, I'm sure he was to draft a future Hall of Famer like Lance Briggs in round 3. Realistically you're getting role players and competition.
  18. Where are you finding, "best available" at?
  19. I agree. But based on numbers, DT and OT are of the greatest need.
  20. Hell yes! It is nice to have a pick that the majority is happy with. That being said, where is Jason?
  21. I'm in. I'm currently the only one in. Usually the traffic picks up as we get close to our pick.
  22. WR Quick and TE Fleener. Bears need to move up IMO.
  23. Here's hoping we draft a quarterback we plan on converting in to a WR.
  24. Thanks! The particularly kind since I went off on Riley Reiff not getting drafted . . . except he was taken by Detroit. Oops.
  25. They just had his press conference on the SCORE and he talked about playing all phases of special teams. Boers and Bernstein commented that he looks like a linebacker. Hub Arkush commented on a rumor that he might be Urlacher's eventual replacement. Here's how I look at it: One of our greatest areas of need was a situational pass rusher. We haven't had that since Mark Anderson's rookie year. In his rookie year, if he can fill that role, ratchet up double-digit sacks, won't that be pretty damn good?
