  1. Hub's a ferkin' moron but I can almost see this being the Emery WTF moment of this year... Going offense in the first round. It will certainly get a reaction on this board!

    WTF moment

I think if we could predict the WTF moment it wouldn't be much of a WTF moment. But I can almost guarantee you it's going to happen. Emery follows his own rules and doesn't seem to take any of the national media rankings into account. So far that's produced both good and bad results although Shea is still an "incomplete" in the grade book, at least as far as the team is concerned. I'm hopeful he's solid at LB but I'm not holding my breath. Anyway, his WTF moment will come in the seconnd round this year, not the first. That's all I'm willing to commit to.
  3. Interesting. I still doubt what you say is true but it sure does tell us something when we're dead last. I'm sure the transition of GM's has a bit to do with it though as the new guy feels no loyalty to the old guy's picks, so he's able to "move on" a little easier. But with that said, we can all agree Angelo left this team in sorry shape, particularly in the OL. His first round picks were gawd damn brutal overall which is when you ought to hit at a much higher level. Of course Emery is only one out of two so far in the first round and many here whined about Long when he was taken.
  4. Could also be our DC sucks and Lovie was able to hold things together while he wasn't. Although the significant injuries certainly didn't help.
  5. I had to break my own rule and look it up because I thought it was double digits too. He was drafted in the 8th round which obviously doesn't currently exist. It just goes to show you how important those UDFA pickups could potentially be. Although I think scouting is so much more advanced now that the best 100 players are probably gone in the first 150 picks. Obviously Tom Brady and dozens of other examples show that not to be 100% true but I think teams are better prepared, in general, to get to the best talent quickly.
  6. Ha! Old school? Didn't they used to go like 30 rounds? Trivia Question: What round was Richard Dent drafted in? Don't look it up!
  7. No surprise there. I liked it better as an "event" because one of our group was a Vikings fan and there were 2 years in a row when they busted on getting their first pick up to the podium in time. You just can't buy that kind of entertainment! I miss Tice...
  8. I think I've mentioned this in the past too. The NFL has really screwed up. Making this a prime time event may draw them extra cash but I seriously doubt it's made their fans happier. What do you guys think? I used to have a Saturday party with multiple buddies coming over, shrimp on the BBQ, ribs, beer... It was an all day affair! A real tradition to kick off the start of spring. Now the first round is being held on the ferkin' Thursday night! Idiots. Some things are best left alone.
  9. You're forgetting Alex Brown. He's definitely a recent "success story" from Florida.
  10. LOL! Do you pretend to be the Bears GM in the dark corners of your lonely apartment? Dude, I'm just giving you shit. I certainly don't hate you. You're just a football geek with a huge ego. No biggie. As to JA and others, I'll just point to results. His efforts put a team in the Superbowl reasonably quickly. You can point to failures and say he built on what was already there but so did the fatman running the Bulls. You have to take the good with the bad with any of these guys and I'm just more willing to give them the benefit of the doubt than you are. I'm not as cock-sure of myself like you are when it comes to football. I'm sure that dark corner of your apartment is your favorite place. Peace dude.
  11. That is odd. And it's their expert's rankings per the little ? at the top of the column.
  12. Yeah, and as one of the "idiots" who dare side with some of the decisions management has made, I've always said it was fair to criticize them but that most of the time Jason's just an egomaniac doofus without a clue and I'd side with Jerry or Emery 9 times out of ten over anything that ass-clown had to say.
  13. Find one post here from anyone suggesting Lovie intelligently used Wolfe. Just one.
  14. If Garza is outplayed he'll deserve to get dumped.
  15. There's no question JA ignored the OL for basically his entire tenure here. Hell, that's something Jason and I agree on so it must be an absolute truth. And that glaring weakness on the team was addressed by Emery at his first opportunity, rather well, I think we all agree. It may be too early to judge one vs. the other on drafts but there are good early signs.
  16. And lots of teams use this approach. Given his earning $8 mil for sitting on his ass, he owed it to the Bears to come back to at least see what they could do. Screw him.
  17. That's why I always try to say things like "Based on what we've observed" or something similar to that. I think you're right. They SHOULD know a lot about the knee, right? But I'm not all-knowing like Jason so I don't want to say for sure. I do know that Trestman had a year to work with Hester and he apparently learned quickly that the dude is too stupid to play WR. Not sure what the deal was with Melton but he didn't live up to his end of the bargain by giving the Bears a chance to match. End of story.
  18. The more he whines the happier I am they didn't. Frankly nobody really knows. I'm certain it wasn't any one thing. I recall hearing from some source he wanted a two year deal. I know they were pretty far apart on money. He had a history of holding the Bears feet to the fire. He was the centerpiece of Lovie's D. He wasn't "fan friendly" and didn't represent the team well off the field. We was getting old in NFL terms and he'd been injured a few times in recent years. Maybe losing a step. So, I think they made a determination that they had a number in mind and if that offer was rejected they were going to move on. They definitely didn't want to get into a press war with one of their "stars" like the whole Favre fiasco. But no matter what, after it all went down, the Bears have been the ones with class. They may have driven him into retirement (although he was free to sign elsewhere and nobody wanted him) but when asked repeatedly about the reasons for it happening, Emery has been very diplomatic. Urlacher hasn't. And Urlacher has to most to lose from his scorched earth approach. He better wise up fast.
  19. The jury is still out as far as I'm concerned. But you're right that no GM is going to be perfect and dealing with aging stars is incredibly difficult. Just think back a few years ago and how the Packers handled Favre. It's tough.
