IDIOTS!!! the SHITSHOW continues. the absolute last position we need to draft we waste #10 on a TE not even ranked the best. DT, DE, CB all good players and we get a TE who is NOT good at contested catches? FIRE POLES.

there is NO way we draft a WR at 10. we would be wasting either this pick or last years in odu. that would mean we have 2 top ten receiver contracts coming due at nearly the same time. with all the other holes to fill, WR this high is NOT one we need that high. if they do that they are insane.

alright convince me on ashton jeanty at #10... small, listed under 5'9" (5'81/2") skipped the combine workouts AND many pro day workouts. no 40 times at all. so how fast is he really? how strong is he? didn't he skip the bench press and other workouts too? WHY? 2024 138 receiving yards? that is basically nothing if you want a dual purpose running and receiving running back threat in the NFL especially if his speed or ability to be evasive is supposed to be top end. he has a lot of carries in his college career. that is wear and tear. suspect blocking skills or abilities due to size? compares to barry sanders or gibbs from the lions? first of all the division he played in is SECOND RATE compared to sanders big 8 conference and gibbs alabama SEC conference. didn't gibbs share duties with a hard inside running back, montgomery, with the lions? who is our montgomery type back still on our team right now? do we have to draft 2 backs this season? i seem to remember people on this board calling it crazy that the lions even drafted gibbs that high last draft. my conclusion: with a RB heavy draft we are going to possibly draft a guy like this at #10? if we traded down and had the chance to get him in the middle of the first maybe but at 10 with all the other talent in this draft at positions we really need do we do that? i would rather see us trade down for a future first round pick if we don't see a player of need or value at 10. give us 2 firsts next year to move up in the draft if we needed to.

i have to ask.... that small of a RB (5'9") in the nfl of today against 300+ lb tackles and ends seems like a stretch to me no matter how good he looks in college. he will get crushed and so i question how long and how effective this size of back can become. that is skat back size not your bell cow. if you draft him at 10 this is a freaking reach. if you move up to get him giving away draft picks it is criminally stupid.

am i misreading this? trade a 2nd round draft pick to move up and pick a 5'9 running back at #5? if so, i am TOTALLY against that scenario. even picking a 5'9 or 5'8 running back is questionable at #10. at that size his receiving skills are questionable and anyone covering him has size on him. i just don't see it. if poles does that he is nuts.

the big money all pro type free agents... before throwing large amounts of cap space at single players they need to do the following: 1. evaluate how the quality of the player they plan on acquiring works with the players next to him. if it was the guard from KC for top dollar, how is he going to work with the center and tackle playing next to him in chicago? is he suited to still play at an all pro level with them? how do they compare to the players on the team he is leaving as far as skill sets that will utilize all of this FA's talent? this is also true on defensive FA's. i realize the players on our team might not be of the same quality but how do they work together with the big payday player is critical. 2. scheme: how will this FA relate to the the scheme we are going to run here? if it's not the same and he has to adjust will that also equate to his playing at an all pro level? 3. if we are looking at an OL free agent how does the skills of our QB compare to what his requirements were to protect the QB on the team he is leaving? scramble ability, quick release etc. 4. assume this FA will be playing at the same position he did before leaving. if not do we end up like we did with the all pro right tackle we acquired a number of years ago for big money and switched him to become a mediocre left tackle (can't remember the name at the moment()?

in my estimation this is the dream team in coaching. we have a HC who is the best choice of what was out there. That has happened only once in my memory and that was wanny. wanny didn't work out but at the time he was the best choice. add johnson the best offensive option with the best DC available who has HC experience and is considered the best or close to it DC available and we should be set on both sides of the ball. also allen is in all probability not jumping into a HC job after a year like some coordinators would have. we FINALLY have two coaches that can move this franchise into the 21st century. if it works out we should be superbowl contenders within 2 years.

turnovers absolutely killed the lions. it flipped the points. one pick 6 and some int's in the redzone or endzone if i remember correctly. it was a qb's nightmare of a game.

goff lost that game. the lions should have won by a lot. the offense had multiple opportunities to come back but goff kept throwing int's at critical junctures. he is responsible for at least 21 point against the lions. nothing wrong with the lions offense i could see.

favre was not developed by mccarthy. it was holmgren. rogers first year was under sherman and he was backing up favre for 3 years

i have stated numerous times that belly is way over rated. yea, look at the record before and after bledsoe and brady. it's easy to be a winning coach when you have excellent and HOF qb's not to mention it always helps when you CHEAT. and is there any way POSSIBLE that you rate wilson or any other seattle qb he coached even CLOSE to favre and rogers? really?

show me his success without HOF qb's. any championships? how many post season wins against the best? west coast offense? probably works ok with veteran HOF qb's running it but how many superbowls with all that talent? even with HOF qb's his post season is dismal. HC with GB 13 years only TWO seasons with more than one and done or no wins at all and included in that the one SB win. that is not what you want, or at least that is not what i want.

they would both have to agree (this includes rivera as DC). if johnson is the man you CAN'T force any coaches on him or it's just the same ole same ole in chicago. you can give him the options if he takes the job and he makes the decisions.

you never know about carroll. he is basically out because of age but would be a GREAT short term choice here as assistant HC or if no johnson i take him as HC for the 3 year window. rivera would be a very good choice as DC especially if no carroll. has HC experience and certainly won't take any crap.

or maybe johnson with carroll as assistant HC? that would be nice. a temp assistant to get johnson up to speed and show him the ropes.

i'm all in on that. johnson and if that doesn't work for whatever reason pete carroll. screw mccarthy.

that's the dream team for me. johnson/rivera. if we are going for the experienced coach i have to take carroll. he is my second choice. 3 years to develop caleb and an OC to groom as the next HC. he should have his choice on who comes in to that position if they know he is in line for a team that is up and running. consistency across the board. people like and trust him. or... do we get another retread/experiment in mccarthy? if anyone here has scratched their heads with bizarre calls on 4th down get ready for some more with mccarthy.

wouldn't you to get rid of him too? seriously, loyalty was one of carroll's faults. if that is the only one i have no problem at all with it. that is what a GM is for.

every professional sport franchise in chicago is the same. incompetent. the bulls, sox, cubs. reihnsdork is as bad if not worse than mccaskey's. it dates back to the halas's/mccaskey's, wriggley, comiske to bidwell (the owner of the chicago cards). it's hard to comprehend. if you want the worst ownership, chicago is the place.
