True dat! I think its only obvious that we all decline in some way, shape or form as we age. Considering he was on a pretty lackluster team for the better part of his time in Minnesota, I would take this "news" with a huge grain of salt. (Maybe wash it down with that sip of cynicism). Are his numbers not better than Peppers? I think they are. Not to mention, as others have pointed out, he's younger. And more durable and plays every down. If for nothing else and just compared to Peppers then he's an improvement. Compared to his 'younger' self, obviously he won't fare as well. You're stating to sound like CrackerDog

What a curmudgeon! I agree to an extent. What I'm seeing is something familiar to what the Giants had a few years ago with a hybrid DE/DT/LB defense in their front end scheme. Kiwanuka, JPP, Uminyora, Tuck all put the fear into opposing offenses. I remember them having some sort of lineup where some of the front guys would be line up standing up (NE tinkered with it a few years before that) and called it a "messy lineup " or something rather . Although I don't see that here I see a good blend of some fast and persistent rushers; Young, Bass, Allen and SMC mixed with some solid anchors in Paea, Collins, Ratliff, Houston. If Tucker can't do anything with this group then he's gone. I will say it'll be Fun to watch the team compete again. Looking forward to the new season!!

No, I'm talking about yours and my bet.

I'm feeling a little less confident with our deal... But I'm ok with it!

Not that it means anything but couldn't help but hear that Marshall and J. Palmer were at Bortles pro day. Marshall because of his alma mater and Palmer to help advise Bortles. I know he's (Bortles) out of reach but interesting nevertheless. And speaking more on the Allen deal. Interesting moves in the division this year. Wooton to Minny, Peppers to GB and Allen to Chi. Chicago definitely got the best part of that deal.

Thanks Scott for keeping us in the loop! Great add and I hope Amy enjoys being able to cheer on her home team with her husband playing! Better update your signature line. Hah

Agreed, have to say Emery has gained some cred with me...if only a little. Hear the deal is in the $8 mil / year neighborhood.

Its official!! Woo ha!!! Edit: Being discussed now on NFL network. 4 year deal. As told by Molly Querim... Another "good" reporter. And a link: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000033...akcarrier=other And 69 happens to be available!

It's sunny and brisk right now. May hit 40 (Fahrenheit) today. Which is always a funny temperature up here, Seems that 40 going into winter is cold but at this end it's a whole lot different. Seems balmy. Before I know it we'll have some green grass and warm(er) temps. How about the merry UK?

It seems Fairley has run afoul of Lions' management. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2014/...ot_pick_up.html If you recall Peppers was accused of 'taking plays off now and then' but still did pretty well when he played in Chicago. And Fairley is younger...fifth year in next season (2015). Would Chicago benefit from looking into this? Maybe Fairley could prove to be a decent 3T or NT given the right situation? My thought is he played too much into the free for all no discipline that was Schwartz' coaching and became lazy because of it. Maybe with the new staff in Detroit he'll do better? Maybe he'd do better in a different NFC North team?

If for nothing else you gotta hand it to Cutler for agreeing to assist in what he can do to better the team.

Thanks for ruining the technical irony.

??? Dreaming about Atlanta doing well or Hester? Id like Hester to break the record but not in the NFC Championship against the Bears.
-
He might be worth the money he got. Depends on a few things. With the indoor turf of Atlanta versus Chicago outdoor grass theory I've heard he (Hester) could become "faster" and elusive. He could put Atl offense in pretty good field position in order for Matt Ryan and the O to operate. If Atlanta and their O is able to make that next step past the early rounds of the playoffs and because they were able to get production out of Hester "only" as a return man, then $3 million was worth it. For Atlanta that is... Not for Chicago. They needed too much elsewhere and couldn't afford that much of a luxury.

That would be a good add but something tells me he's going to cost. Edit: good "camp body" add and not costly. Confused him with Ihenacho at Denver. Who might be available if Ward is there? But am sure he'd (Ihenacho) be pricey.

Very nice. The "Galloping Ghost" rides again! I like it a lot. On the one hand we wouldn't want to turn away "whippersnappers" from the site but if the can't identify iconic figures for what is the Bears then isn't it our job (the old guys) to make it so?

Then there's this... "missed you by that much...punk" http://youtu.be/v55mFUmkNuo The more I see of him the more he makes me think of Dave Bass. Very similar build and style.

Thank you for the update. Can't blame the guy to have Seattle (I assume) as one of the options. But to say you were once a Chicago Bear.... Now that's something.

Don't encourage Stinger, he's a perv. LOL (for Stinger)

Man you and Cracker are in rare form! I am very nearly laughing my ass off!!!

Hester's value just took another hit...

Because I thought "BS" when I saw this and I am not a fan of Williams', I looked up comparative stats. So to put into perspective: Urlacher's stats for 2012(his last year): Games played - 12. Combined tackles - 68. Tackles - 53. sacks - 0 Williams stats for 2013: (what should have been his last year as a Bear): Games played - 6 Combined tackles - 27. Tackles19 and 2 Sacks. So in half as many games played Williams did not count half the tackles Urlacher did. The only thing he had on Brian was the 2 sacks. And for what it's worth Williams has not had a complete season since 2010. In all of Urlacher's career he totaled 3 incomplete years. Re-signing Williams was a mistake more so than not re-signing Hester. -
Not a Bears item, but a Q on how we all view things...

Not bad. Know I couldn't do it. Probably will have to get Admins to vote on it as they are sorta the "founding fathers" of the site. -
I tried to post a poll with three choices. Them being: 1) Old school (Butkus, GSH, Payton, Sayers etc) 2) New School (AJ, BM, Forte, Cutler etc) 3) Bearstalk users (Cracker, Connor, Daventry, SCS, MadLith etc) Then option 4... Which is what ended up showing up on the post.

Have to say I agree with most of what you said. I agree, similar to the loss of Urlacher last year affecting the D, Hester's loss will affect the ST. However I think what we don't know about this new C. Williams kid could pay off both in ST and on offense. Not something Hester could offer any longer. But in the end he's playing for Atlanta now so on we go.. Keep up the dynamic dialogue with Cracker, I always laugh when you guys go back and forth. -
Or last but not least... "Don't care" I think something with TerraTor in it would be amusing. Or Stinger and SCS in an embrace would be cute. edit: ok it's apparent I have no idea how to do a poll.
