To establ;ish a consistent winner you cant change coaches every two years or 3 years , its constant turmoil for a team. We lost a lot of games the last two years, but you cant completely change a roster and expect to have a winning team.

This part is very important to a rebuild. Flus is building himself as well.  He may have not been fully ready to be a HC, but what guy was going to come in and endure the rebuild?  The in-game decisions will be much faster for him this year, not having to deal with Alan Williams stuff and also with the game slowing down, as it also does with players.  If Flus is here three more years, it's a really good sign.

You certainly should be proud. The young man not only turned his life around but is also making a significant difference in the lives of young athletes through his program.

I never knew biracial kids dealt with identity issues. I had a biracial friend in HS. I wonder if he had the same problems.

Thanks Pix.  Yeah, it's a big deal.  It's sometimes how adopted kids feel somewhat out of place.  Our family does a pretty good job of simply loving our own and not looking at race.  There are people out there, of all colors, that won't let it go.  It gets better with each generation.

it sounded like purposeful rejection of Dalton and Foles. I always thought Fields was somewhat Cutler-like in his press conferences. He always spoke softly and minimally, and kept his words inside his mouth. I wasnt sure if that was humility, or a lack of respect for the press. When I heard his interview a few months ago on a podcast with former players, his speech patterns were very different, and I felt like that was the real Justin, and he was more likeable then to me too.

I think the looking at his phone thing wasn't a matter of him being distracted, but more disrespecting that Foles or Dalton had anything to teach him. I always thought he was somewhat sullen, but I chalked it up to  me misreading him, and that just being his style. Once I heard him speak differently on the podcast, then i thought it wasn't his style, but keeping them at a distance.

And that's not always bad either. Belichick was a master of that kind of sullen, low speak style in press conferences, and he was doing that purposefully and to good effect. So it's not always a social issue.

I also think that Fields WAS focused on football. He apparently put in tons of work, watching film etc.

Yup.  I believe there was a reason for the admonishment.  No way they nailed him like that on one offense.  If so, that would be very unprofessional.

Besides the 3 primetime games, they are on Thanksgiving and the London, both games that seem primetime to me.

Yeah, I definitely see turkey day as a prime-time game.  There also may be some flex-in games later in the season with if division is tight.

What I find hard to understand is that they'd confess to this!

Let's look at it this way.

A GM brings in a veteran QB to mentor his new Rookie QB. A very important position.

The Rookie QB screws up by allowing himself to be distracted by his phone while the veteran QB is providing instruction. (We don't know what the issue was. Playing a game? Received a text message from a hot babe, his wife, or both, LOL. Or maybe a family emergency? Doesn't matter.)

Instead of explaining the importance of paying attention, the veteran scolds him, saying he is now on his own and abandons the rookie.

If I were the GM, I would cut the Veteran and bring in another mentor for my rookie QB.

Yes, I'd be disappointed the rookie was distracted (we still do not know for sure why), but the Veteran failed the rookie and the team.

If this 'rumor' is true, we failed Fields in more ways than play calling, OL, and depth at skill positions.

We gave him an asshole for a mentor.

We don't know the extent of the relationship between the three QBs.  I've never heard a bad thing about Dalton or Foles.  IMO, two seasoned veterans vs a rookie QB, tells me that the old fellas wanted their respect and adoration and didn't feel they were getting it.  On Justin's end, he's probably thinking his game is way different than the other two, so why delve into things that didn't match his game.

I think when the boo birds come out, it is more on the play selections lately. I can't think of a player they would have booed.  I remember Urlacher being upset when fans booed, which was probably poor oline and play calls.

Last time we were there, it was against the chargers.  Mitch was QB and drove us to a last second game winning field goal attempt.  The guys behind were all negative, saying Parkey was going to blow the 40 yarder.  It pissed me off because we spent a lot of money to be on the fifth row and we didn't wanna hear that crap.  Parkey doinked it off the upright and I wanted to kill those people.  They weren't the only ones.  If you go to GB or Indy, the fans are never like that.

I think playing Washington on the road would be a good option. Not very good, getting away would get away from the fanfare of the first game. Its going to be crszy with expectations. Our defense is nearly complete and should start strong, it will take some time for the offense to get up to speed, Of the teams mentioned, Washington was the worst rushing defense (5th ) and we will come out running.

You may be on to something.  My experience at Soldier Field has been very negative.  Jackass fans would probably boo Caleb on the first three and out.  I think Bears fans are extremely loyal, but probably the least positive in the league.

My opinion is no Packers.  The Vikings were mentioned by the Score guys.  Caleb would see a ton of pressure though, so it might not be best to play one if not the top blitzing team if fans got to choose.  My choice, Commanders, Colts, Patriots, Panthers or Seahawks.  Save the Cardinals for a winter treat to warm up.

    HOME

    • Detroit Lions
    • Green Bay Packers
    • Minnesota Vikings
    • Los Angeles Rams
    • Seattle Seahawks
    • Jacksonville Jaguars
    • Tennessee Titans
    • Carolina Panthers
    • New England Patriots

    AWAY

    • Detroit Lions
    • Green Bay Packers
    • Minnesota Vikings
    • Arizona Cardinals
    • San Francisco 49ers
    • Houston Texans
    • Indianapolis Colts
    • Washington Commanders

Thanks for the list.  I'll take a home game against Titans, Patriots or Panthers...

  9. A story from Justin Fields rookie year came out over the weekend.  Andy Dalton was working the white board, trying to help Justin with the offense and looked up and Justin was fixated on his phone.  Evidently Dalton and Foles let him have it, telling him he was on his own.  ESPN 1000

I didn't want to start a jump on Justin thread.  Thought it was interesting though.

  10. I was going to post something similar.  My thought was, what will be best for Caleb's growth as a player?

We could play a scrub team, but how would it feel if Caleb had a terrible game?  Then, there's the opposite end of the spectrum if we play a good team and he plays well.

At the end of the day, I want what is psychologically best for Caleb.

I get that youre all sick of me because I was right about Fields and after all the fighting you just HATED that you lost. And now many of you seek to catch me on something so you can assuage your hurt egos. But that my friends is on YOU.

No, were just sick of you being the fighty person you accuse others of being.  It's evident because you wanna group me with the Justin crowd, while I was actually on your side.  But here we are.  I won't attempt anymore dialog on the matter.

I dont think I need to get over myself to say that Williams was extra accurate. I was impressed. You werent. Cool.

The reasons I told you to get over yourself were, first, you questioned Pix's ability to assess quarterbacks, which was out of line.(If you are that good at it, maybe you should apply your talents professionally)  Secondly, you questioned what I said about my kid.(Not cool)  Then there's your attitude like Caleb has arrived, when he hasn't played a down in the league.  Also, putting words on my mouth, saying I wasn't impressed with him was dead wrong.  Much more important things, than drill accuracy, impressed me about him at rookie camp.

Now, you're bringing me up in your rant to AZ.  At some point, the common denominator reveals itself.

your eighteen year old son can drop a football into a garbage can from 30 yards away 20 out of 20 times?

Caleb is a highly accurate QB. And you can see it in everything he throws.

It's like playing catch.  Get over yourself.  We used play it for points.  Listen, your are right about his technique and anticipation.  But, in drills like that it's very very easy.  His accuracy may be special, but nobody is seeing it from drills like the ones in rookie camp.

  14. 1 hour ago, BearFan PHX said:

Totally disagree. Different QBs have different levels of accuracy. Caleb's is excellent, as you can see from that drill. The ball is in the identical place each time. That's not common.

I'll disagree with your disagree.  My eighteen year old son can do that and he's a WR.  You are dead wrong on the accuracy analogy, but dead right on the mechanics.

    Pix,

My condolences.  I just lost my mother about 10 days ago so I haven't been online much recently.  I cannot imagine what you have endured.  Your message rings true.  Our families are a gift, Bear Down and make the time for them.

Dang AZ, so sorry to hear this.  Prayers to you and yours...🙏

I'm crying with gratefulness that I have not experienced this loss.  So sorry Pix...

    Keenan=love. Just what Caleb needs

Bates: 3X hate. Could have signed better without losing a fifth round pick.  Van Pran with that pick.

Overall, I love what Poles has done.  I'm also excited to see the punter I hate, because he is the dude.  My only complaint is center and I pray I'm wrong...
