But Im not sure we dont need our future WR, OT or DE more.
We are one player from completing the D, EDGE. We are one player from completing the O, center. Adding Fuaga brings a talent infusion and huge depth. A WR doesn't complete anything, but it's definitely a building block to keep our QB stocked with talent. I also drafted Tez Walker and Cade Stover for young weapons. I'm all for WR at the right time. For me, it's finish the trenches first, then WR. Fat boy dream...

So, are you moving Wright to LT? Because I’m pretty sure Fuaga projects best to RT.
Moving Fuaga to guard. Could imagine him next to Wright? Plus, I don't trust Davis or Jenkins to give a full season.

We need WRs with more wiggle than Brendan Rice so they can get open.
Definitely. Take a look at Devontez Walker and Xavier Leggette. They are both sub 4.4. Walker is fluid and can really fly. Leggette is a monster. Both looked really good at the combine.

QB - Caleb is the most ready and I like him. Drake Maye is my highest upside guy.
WR - guys we can get that I like are Xavier Leggette and Devontez Walker.
OL - Graham Barton has replaced JPJ as my IOL stud. JPJ has a concussion history.
TE - Brock fn Bowers = stud
DE - Turner and Latu. Turner is the opposite of Sweat, so I like the diversity. Latu has the tools, but the neck fusion has people concerned. (Danielle Hunter is a success with the same surgery)

I guess I was the only one who didn't like his relatively weak arm (by NFL standards). I just never saw NFL QB in him but draft wizards had me outgunned. I think regardless of circumstances his career arc will trend toward bridge QB. Good enough to be a sometimes starter. On the flip side I didn't understand all the criticism of Stroud but I only watched one or two of his games late in the season. I think they said he had more struggles early on. Regardless, with no dog in the fight, I was happy to take DJ Moore and a truckload of picks.
I don't think any of the experts made reference to his cannon of an arm. They were praising his anticipation, accuracy, processing and leadership. I'm also a fan of the truckload of picks we got. It probably ruined Carolina for the next ten years. BTW, I picked Stroud over Young "on the record", so you are not alone.

These are statements Dane Brugler made in his Beast draft guide. I like his work but will say he had Bryce Young rated higher than CJ Stroud last year. This is his opinion after studying hours on a prospect. He's not always right .
We are drafting CW, so I want him to succeed but great prospects do fail occasionally so calling him great right now is a little premature.
Did you call Brugler stupid last year because he had Young rated higher than Stroud?
Young faced the same bad circumstance Justin did. Maybe worse. I truly believe franchises can ruin players. I firmly believe we would have ruined Mahomes with our atrocious OL. Williams will have the full benefit of a solid foundation to start his career. Just like Mahomes. All told, Young has a chance, but the odds are now stacked against him.

If someone can't see the difference, I think they don't know what they are looking at. It couldn't be more clear cut.
I wouldn't go that far. There have been too many QBs that looked like they were going to be the next great, only to prove us all wrong. The scouting for Fields was ridiculously accurate and he couldn't fix it soon enough. The scouting on Caleb looks just as accurate, with him having less to overcome. So, I do get your point, however argumentative it may be.

Second, I now read he is predicting a huge year for Gervon Dexter. If he is right, the defense takes another step toward total domination.
Dexter was a guy I slated as "country strong" last year. With a year of NFL training, he should be a beast. It doesn't hurt that he was on the rise the sending half of the season. Ultimately, I haven't envisioned him as a 3tech. He will be a terminator at 1tech once his body matures...

So the projection on Williams remains to be seen in the NFL?
That's overstating the obvious... 🐐

Great write up PHX. Seriously, wow! Caleb is unabashedly himself. That in itself is endearing to me. I recall a story where Larry Bird hit a game winning three pointer while KC Jones was calling a timeout. In the huddle, KC was drawing up a play and Bird said, "just get me ball and I'm hitting it from the same spot." Then, went out and told the defense what he was going to do and did it. That's supreme confidence. If that's what Caleb has, don't F with it.

His arm is crazy good but I don’t like his pocket presence. I think he needs a full year to work on that stuff before being thrown into the fire. If he can get his feet to calm down that should lead to less missed easy passes.
That's exactly what I was eluding to...

Just so you know you're not alone, I stand with you in solidarity. I'm all in on the idea of trading the #1 but not as sure on who the QB should be. Daniels is definitely a consideration.
If we were to trade the one, I'm taking Maye. Best upside of ANY player in the draft. His floor isn't there yet though. We're drafting for next year, so he would have a year to take his lumps.

Unfortunately, no.

*IF* Caleb will develop into the QB I envision, you are absolutely correct.
Damn, I hate *IFs* LOL
As Larry Bird said, "if ifs was fifths, we'd all be drunks."

Slowly the talk of Jayden Daniels being the best QB in this draft gains traction. I haven't changed my position. I'm so far off the consensus mock because I'm still the only fan here who will trade back to #2 and take Daniels and the picks. I'd take Daniels at #1 and still be happy but I believe I can make that trade happen. Even the Bears fan I met at a my granddaughters softball game agreed with Daniels being the best so there's at least 2 of us in the multiverse LOL.

I wouldn't be mad at all. I like five QBs in this draft. So, if extra picks come with a trade down, it could be better. Caleb seems to be the lock though.

Our MLB is blue chip no? Forgot homie name.
Thank you. Edmonds...💪

I'm more and more convincing myself that Poles will trade the nine. There are many similar choices, talent wise, at 10-20. An extra second or third could outweigh standing pat.
-
On looking at our current roster, who are the blue chip players? Here's my list....
Wright, Jenkins, Kmet, Moore, Allen, Williams, Sweat, Dexter, Stevenson, Johnson, Gordon and Brisker. I'm counting twelve. Polian says 14. We are getting close. If we hit at nine, it's 13 possibly. Maybe 14 will develop under the radar. IMO, 13 is a shock. Very cool future for our team...

Yeah, he's bendy. Everyone's worried about his neck fusion. Danielle Hunter had the same

There’s a lot of chatter in the Twitterverse about maybe taking a 3T over an edge in the first - that would probably be Byron Murphy at 9 or maybe a trade down for Newton. I don’t love it after spending two premium day two picks on DTs last year, but you can’t discount the value of a good 3T given the contracts we’ve seen for top DTs and the importance of 3T in the scheme. What say you?
I'm with you. Drafting a 3 tech tells me that Pickens and Dexter aren't it. Dexter did outplay Carter the second half of the season. We really need to see where his development goes, as year two should provide good growth in production.

every defense needs to identify one player on each side of the field that is responsible for "contain" meaning that you dont have to make the tackle, but you have to stay outside the ballcarrier so that they evade you back into the teeth of the defense, and cant flank the entire defense up the sideline for a big gain.
The above is true. The rest is so so. I've seen DB's set the edge. The most creative defenses do it various ways.

Draft ALL OFFENSE

It depends on the offense you are running. Sean Peyton values guards over tackles for inside out schemes. If our system dictates better inside blocking, you can't get better than Fuaga.
