I seen it on Twitter ,didn't check it myself.

I just noticed that after out last 3 signing we have 9.2 left. Over the Cap numbers, not mine.
-
I seen where Matt Bowen, former S that use to be on the score, said Gibson is a perfect compliment to EJac. I always respected his opinion. a smart guy.
-
If they go on the practice squad, we have the right to keep him provided we add him to the roster.

I prefer they under rate us. More reason to prove them wrong. Last year Patterson has 17 rushes, the year before in NE he had 47 for a 5.4 average. I think he is our #2 RB and will get 75 to 80 carries. With the easy way to get 5 mil back on the cap, they kept him. They did not draft or get one in FAgency. I think unless a cheap option pops up , he's our #2. Cohen is just a specialist and probably gets more reps as a WR.

If they have a winning record, I don't think either one is gone. They need to establish a running game and keep it part of every game plan. Average QB play gets us in the offense. We have to score TDs in the red this year instead of FGs. That's where the new TEs make a difference.
-
The cool thing about this defense is they will bring a pass rush with out adding extra rushers. 7 people jamming the receivers with less time to throw. The turn overs are coming back. As AZ stated by the end the year this group could be better than last year's group. That will be pretty to watch.

In Korea their baseball league starts May 4th. No fans for one month. There is always a way things can be done. By the time football starts everything will at going and will start adding fans shortly after.

The best case scenario is MT kicks ass and becomes the person his draft status projected. I think they run a lot 2 TE sets which, even though the TEs are good at blocking, they get in the way for pursuit angles and contrite some. I think this is the yr Smith breaks out and has a pro bowl performance. Just makes everyone else better on that defense.

I think we're in pretty good shape considering our financial situation and a limited draft. We added speed = 3 WRs , Kmet, Graham and Harris that makes the TE room better. A new QB, Patterson is going to be RB2 with Cohen the specialty back. One of the UDFAs may make the roster. The oline is still a question but they have new faces and holdovers that may take a step forward. Defense has depth at CB, S, OLB plus the front already did. Johnson, Quinn and Gibson may actually be better than who they replaced last yr. There were better options than players we picked up but with the money we had, Pace has did a good job. The only screw up was paying Graham to much. I think they got the best option at QB. In a bizzaro year, bringing in a QB that knows the system will be huge. Winston was never going to take the contract the first week of free agency that he took now. Dalton wasn't released yet and probably have more than Foles did with questions of is he better. Did not know the system. No one is touching Newton with his injury history. If Pace waited until now to make a Qb decision he would have been run out of town on a rail. He made the right decision. I think we still could bring in a OG and RB but I think that they won't until training camp starts and they can evaluate the team.

If we wait until they find a vaccine that will be 12-18 months of shutdown. That won't happen. MLB is working out a system starting July 1st. I think the NFL is planning on a normal schedule maybe minus crowds at first. As soon as one sport starts up there all going to jump back in. May is going to be the determining factor on what happens going forward.

He's played and started 112 games out of 128 in 8 yrs. In the last 4 yrs he has only missed 2 games. Last yr he had a broken wrist and a back issue. I'm not sure what was involved with the back but the wrist issue is no big deal. The article you referred to was from 2016 .We're paying him 1 mil (not sure if that's offical but one writer wrote that). And Houston has to pick up the rest of his contract 2 29 mil. So it's a risk worth taking. Tony Jefferson has missed 13 games in his last 2 yrs Clayton Geathers has missed 5 in last 2 yrs. Eric Reid has missed 3 games in the last 2 yrs. ( it might not been from injury).

I have seen many player profiles that list him at 6'1" and then seen one that listed him at 5'11".Not sure which one is correct. I read where the last 2 yrs he has been playing the SS position where his other yrs he played FS. Last yr he broke his wrist in and played through it. Then he had issues with his back and was playing through that. Houston needed the roster spot for Watts in the playoffs so they put him on IR. It was considered an off yr from him .

This post started out as Denmark maybe playing S ( at that time we hadn't signed Gibson). You suggested Vidor, me and AZ were both concerned about his small statue. You give examples of shorter safeties that played well. I'm not sure where this became a, either or with Denmark and Vidor. I never really changed my position, I think he is small in statute but as I read more about him , I found out he is a poor tackler. So my opinion is he will not be moved to S and probably Denmark will not because of the Gibson signing.

I agree, he's to short to play in the box. Kidding. More of a FS. I like this better than adding no one at all. It will be interesting to see how much he gets paid. I suspect the bears tried to sign a different S but they wouldn't play for a cheap contract. Called him after he got cut and he took out contract.
-
If they were going to cut Patterson they would have did it before now. I think Patterson is going to get more reps at RB and maybe that is why we haven't signed a free agent RB yet. The last time Ginn returned kicks was 3 yrs ago where he had 19 punt returns for a 5.4 av. Doubt if they use him there. I didn't realize Peters had such a low salary, he might still be an option. 1 yr 4 mil?
-
When you suggested Vidor maybe playing SS, I was objecting to the idea because of his smaller frame that I thought would cause durability issues so I read all of his draft profiles giving his strengths and weaknesses. His biggest weakness is tackling and every draft profile mentioned it ( Not strong at the point of attack) ( whiffs on a lot of tackles) ( poor tackling technic).( led his team in mistackles)They say he's very good on pass defense though so I think I would leave him at CB.
-
I would think he would get more than the cet minimum even at 35.
-
I should have explained myself better. When I referred to small, not short, I meant in stature. Thanks for looking up the players so I didn't have to. The examples you gave prove my concern. Ed Reed is 16lbs more than Vidor , the rest weight more. These guys are in tip top shape, so 16lbs more is quite a bit of difference. I am not saying they couldn't play well , I was talking about durability. Bob Sanders was 5'8" 205 , he was good but had to deal with injuries that shortened his career. You have a choice of Denmark, 220 lbs who has 1 year of adapting to the NFL and knows the system has more of a chance to succeed than choosing a rookie 189lb guy. They're always examples for anybody you wish to compare that does fit what's normal but the majority are bigger at that position.
-
Don't forget they talked about using Patterson more as a RB. Something he was successful at in NE. Woods and Iggy didn't play much because of Kwit and JPL. It's there time to show they belong or be cut. The 2 ILBs we got as UDFAs were very productive in college. Maybe they get a shot.
-
I suspect Patterson is going to get more reps at RB and maybe they want a replacement for him if he gets them. I expect his role to be greater at WR besides RB.
-
Calls for Vidor to play S doesn't make a lot of sense to me. He would be small for a box safety. The few small Ss in the past that were successful were FSs. In the box your body gets beat up a great deal more. Also a rookie coming in, in what will likely be a shortened preseason, changing positions is unlikely to get very many reps. At least at CB he has a shot to play some. Callahan was on the small side and playing in at NCB , he was always getting injured.
-
It would be nice if all made it as a break out season but history suggests maybe 1 or 2 hit. That would be nice.
-
Just noticed we sighed DL John Jerkins. I think we had him around before. Probably better than A. Anderson. Or at least more competition.
-
I read a story about him and I think he was an Olympic weight lifter and played Rugby. Strong and smart. He got into football in 2016 and all he did in South Africa was watch games and video tape about football. If any UDFAs make it he's the one. Yale isn't bigtime football but he dominated at that level. He is ahead of the curb because of his strength. Most rookies have to get stronger, he is already there. He says the most important thing about football is to study tape. I wouldn't doubt he makes the PS this yr and he's on a fast track.
