Roster stuff
I think our WR room may be pretty well set for next year barring a draft pick. Mooney, Jones Jr, and Claypool all have contracts for next yr. With Harry and ESB having potential, a draft pick may be all they need to add. I think when Pringle comes back he will be auditioning for a spot next yr. I doubt if Pettis comes back. None are #1s but that would still be a pretty strong WR room. Speed, height, and some good blockers.

Roster stuff
Here is the players Poles picked up after the draft and FAgency period. Harry/WR trade for former first rounder that may be able to realize his potential here. Alex Leatherwood/ OT , picked up on waivers that has awesome measurables but havent lived up to his first round pick status. Traded for Chase Claypool, great potential for our WR room Claimed Tevon Wesco/TE off the Jets practice squad. Has become the 2nd TE and good on special teams. Claimed Kellen Diesch/OT off of Miami's practice squad and after he gains some strength could be in the picture at OT going forward. Claimed Armon Watts/DT off of Minnys practice squad and is becoming our 2nd best IDL player Claimed Sterling Weatherford/LB off of Colts practice squad , high upside Joshua Blackwell/CB was picked up after being cut by Eagles and has contributed on special teams right away. Claimed I S-M/WR off of Minnys practice squad. didnt work out I think Poles has did a good job of adding to the roster after the season started, what say you?

Roster stuff
Ex bears some people wanted to resign. Akiem Hicks 2 tackles, often injured Alan Robinson 22-221-2 Larry Obunjobi 19 tackles 1/2 sack compared to Justin Jones 24 tackles 2 sacks (cheaper option may be better) Poles seemed to make the right decision on some of these players.

I would like to see Sterling Weatherford and see what he can do. A converted SS with speed 4.6 in the forty. 6' 4" 230.

Week 9 Game Thread Mia @ Chi
Its about controlling the clock and keeping mistakes to a minimum. I heard they are the worst team in the league making penalties. We have to keep the chunk plays in front of us and let them make mistakes. It may give us a shot.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
I heard one of the deals with Chase was he wanted a big contract. He hasn't earned one yet ..Here may be more comfortable for him, he has 3 ex teammates to play with, an actual top flight QB and a place he can earn a high end contract. Him and Mooney have a chance to prove themselves and it starts Sunday.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
Good points, its culture changing for this year.

I've Been Working a Theory...
I don't think they full bore pound the rock but they already have made the running game important. they want OL physical, bring in WRs that block. Play Monty over Herbert because they value his blocking ability. They are already doing what you suggest. Most teams don't have money tied up in both sides of the ball . Most are spending on O and drafting D players I think more balanced teams are more successful with a decent D and a better than average QB. I think that's where we're headed. The problem with the mauler theory is tis NFL is more speed based these days. They will scheme around top heavy run teams.

Whitehair is practicing so I suspect he will be back this game. Jenkins tweaked his back but played through it in the Dallas game. If he doesn't go , Schofield probably first man up. Whitehair back makes a difference.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
Andrew Philliponi was just on the score, a sports DJ from Pittsburgh. He ripped the whole trade with nothing good to say about Claypool. Granted he made some good points but to say he's complete trash is absurd. He said he was immature, wasnt a hard worker, and had a high drop rate. I looked at this year and he's catching at a 64% catch rate, not sure how that compares to other WRs in the league. If playing the slot on short passes, that is bad stat but as a deep threat, probably comparable. Pittsburgh is not known for letting good players let go, we will just have to see how this pans out. He didnt have great QBs this year in Pitt, maybe with a better QB he excels.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
With several long balls that were just not caught by several WRs, had he been the WR, most of them would have been caught. What I found interesting was Fields stayed after practice and worked running routes with Claypool and going over the playbook. You have to love the effort Fields does trying to be better and being a leader. Anytime a player is available from another team, people value his good traits but we have to remember Pitt was willing to let him go. Why? I suspect they have Pickens going forward and found him expendable but why would they let him walk?

Eiselen Ascending?
What's interesting is the fact Mustifer has played better after Patrick took over and then got hurt. Does he need to replaced (yes) but not sure this is happening. Eiselen is a great story, coming from South Africa having never played football , to going to college to getting on a roster. He is a brute. Always wanted him to succeed. With the need to upgrade at OC. We have Patrick, Mustifer, Kramer( who got hurt) and Eiselen. I could see Poles expecting one of them to standout instead of drafting one. Definitely need it to be better.

Draft Slot Tracker (thru Week 15)
I like this one. Seems realistic for our needs.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
I think ESB , Harry, Mooney, and Claypool are our core group with V Jones, Pettis, Pringle and who ever they draft having to proof themselves to get on the 23 roster.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
Imagine being DBs playing against us and now have to worry about being blocked by WRs after your initial block on a play. I imagine it has some looking instead of focusing on a play. It probably will affect the run game as much as the passing game. Like having a added OT on run plays.

Roquan Traded to Ravens
They did it to prevent GB from getting him and adding to our WR room. They still have a 2nd but 15 spots later.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
Forgot who mentioned it , but Harry, Claypool and Pringle are the top 3 graded blocking WRs in the league. ESB and Mooney have both been doing a good job too. It will make the run game better also. I actually thought that was a bad idea when I first heard it, but it makes so much sense for this year. It helps Justin and a offense that is now averaging 30 points a game. What Poles did was put value on offense and substracted it from D. Im okay with that.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
Cudos to Adam for future forecast. Claypool (24) 6-4 238 4.42 Harry (24) 6-4 224 4.54 Mooney (25) 5-11 173 4.31 ESB (26) 6-5 214 4.48 V. Jones (25) 6-0 200 4.31 Dante Pettis (27) 6-1 195 4.32 Pringle (28) 6-1 208 4.42 Here is our WR room by the end of the year. I think the first 5 stay and we draft another WR. That could be a very good group going forward. Try a 4 WR group of Claypool, Harry, ESB on the outside with Mooney in the slot. I want to see a DC defend that.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
You have to consider they were not signing Roquan after this season, they offered 17.5 and he wanted 22. So if we tagged him it would be around 19. So we get something or nothing, so this is a better situation. Claypool is not a #1 but was better than all the other FAs except maybe JuJu or Meyers, that are similar WRs but would cost more. Claypool has a contract thru 2023. Here is the list of FA WRs.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
T J Hockenson get traded to Viking, ouch. a second and a 4th and gave up a forth going back.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
the good deal is we get him for 9 games this year. It helps in the development of Fields. Try Claypool and Harry on the outside and Mooney in the slot. Or V Jones in the slot and Mooney on the outside. Just heard that the Packers offered a 2nd round pick, and because we gave them our pick is the only reason they traded with us. Two fold helps up with our WR room and subtracts a player going to GB.

Bears Trade for WR Chase Claypool
As of now he's only 24, 6'4" 240 with 4.42 speed. Hopefully they give the 2nd round Balt pick. His first yr, he did 62 -873-9 . 2nd yr 59-860-2 He's not a #1 but definitely worth having . Under contract until 2023. With him , Mooney, ESB, and Harry , then find a #1 in the draft and you have something.

Roquan Traded to Ravens
I guarantee they dont do that trade. Ask for a WR in they want a throw in.

Week 8 Official Game Thread - CHI at DAL, +10, O/U 42.5, 1200 on Fox
I think seeing Quinn leave got into his head and he lost his focus. Now he will be trying to prove himself in Baltimore. I'm interested in seeing how Sanborn and Weatherford play with more reps. Weatherford has 4.5 speed at 6'4" and 228.

Roquan Traded to Ravens
Acquiring a RB that's hurt all the time doesn't seem to fit Poles actions. If anything, he wants draft picks. Monty sets a tone for the O even thou Herbert has been doing better. The combination of the two is working. With the drafting of Ebner and possibility of V Jones getting some carries could change that decision.
