Great write-up- I'm more impressed with your pre-game prediction of 31-23, Bears. If you could give the horns to anyone...give them to Major Wright. I don't know what the coaching staff sees in him as I wish they would just play Merriweather....Wright had a lot of one on ones tonight where he whiffed completely. I understand a lot of guys whiffed on McCoy, but Wright looked bad. For as hard as we are on Martz- he called a great game tonight. There were a few throws that Cut missed on early, which were great looking calls. Lance Louis would get my game ball as well.

Well I apologize! LOL I think it is pretty clear after he made a move and got turned up field..... I'm more upset about the 2nd fumble to be honest. Don't get me wrog it WAS a fumble, however, how can they determine a "clear recovery" since the ref is blowing the play dead and pounding on the ground to prevent Bears players from potentially attempting to recover the fumble. Players are only allowed to play through the whistle and I didn't much care for that ruling regardless of it being a fumble or not.
-
I would say yes. Carimi has gotta be your guy at RT while moving Louis inside....I believe this is a formality to the coaching staff anyway. Spencer can serve as the backup inside at G and C.
-
It was a fumble. It all happened very quickly, but the refs were right.

Thank you. I was also not very impressed by the Eagles Pre-Game Show on Monday Night Countdown courtesy of ESPN..........

YEAHHHHHHHHHHH

It was only inches away from working, but I agree. A roll-out with no PA off an empty set....almost worked out anyway. Should have just rode Barber there as he is bitching these guys. (20/20 glasses)

*cough* Michael Floyd *cough*

Sanzenbacher didn't look like an NFL WR on that play. Regardless....this one is on Forte.

I feel better now.

Yeah. This is bad.

There seem to be a few Webb supporters on this board and I get why. He's a monster who can block out the Sun. In both games against the Packers last season where he started at RT....he blocked Matthews as well as I've seen anyone block him. This has been echoed by several close friends of mine who are Packer fans. He was great against Jared Allen as well. However, there is one deficiency that cannot be remedied.....he's slow. His feet are OK, but a quick inside move and he's toast. That Claiborne sack was a classic example where Webb KNEW he had outside help and Claiborne beat him to the inside (badly) anyway. That coaching staff can claim they can coach him up all they want, however- they can't fix how slow he is. I don't mind Webb being on the roster as he was a great find in the 7th Round who can be a backup swing Tackle....but not our cornerstone on the left side. No way.

Ding ding ding! Williams was a bust at T (on both sides) and I don't think much of him as a G, but apparently the Bears do. The Bears also still really believe Webb can be a solid LT, which is a stretch. I believe when Carimi gets back he'll slide right back in at RT and Louis will slide in at G moving Spencer to the bench as the backup C and G.

I really am getting tired of people getting on the Bears for not signing Forte. It's not as if they made him an offer....they did. They offered him more than what Charles got and Forte said no. If Forte keeps performing the way he is, he may get D'Angelo Williams dollars........but it very well may be somewhere else and I'm ok with that if that's the case. For the time being- just enjoy he's having a career season with a C on his helmet.

In all fairness, Roy got hurt early and I believe that has been extremely detrimental to his season. However, he hasn't shown me anything as of yet.
-
Agreed. Royal is a nice player, but too much like what we already have in Hester and Knox. He may very well be better for all I know....however....we need a guy Jay can throw open.
-
Several weeks ago I mentioned the Bears should offer the Dolphins a 1st Rounder for Marshall. Several weeks later- I'd still do it if that's what it took. I'd however offer a 2nd due to it being even later in the season and I believe the Dolphins would absolutely do it. I'm sure Martz's system may make it impossible to add a WR mid-season, however, if we were to get Marshall....it would be Martz's job to simplify things and figure out how to get Marshall the ball. With the Bears appearing to keep everyone in they can to help block- it becomes that much more important to get Jay a WR he can throw open when covered. Marshall would be that guy and the Bears should do everything they can to get him.

As much as I disapprove of Martz's short tenure in Chicago, I agree with your defense. The play calling yesterday was one sided, but was fine. They got the shaft early in the 3rd quarter when Woodson deliberately slowed down and took Hester out with the ball in the air....that was flat out bush league. The ball that hit Knox in the face mask? That would have been huge as well. Besides, that Morgan Burnett from GT (the guy the Bears wanted and the Pack traded up ahead of them to get) just had a great game. I approved the OL's play yesterday considering the circumstances and thought Martz called a fair game. It's tough to run the ball when you absolutely can't.
-
I agree that is a logical blame, but I wouldn't blame Drake as this WR group just isn't very good. Knox and Hester are the go to guys in the offense for goodness sake. They're slot WRs at best.
-
Agreed, but a play making WR can give Cutler a pressure release. So many times you see Rodgers check his one on one coverage on Jennings and he just throws it to Jennings back shoulder. The Bears don't have a guy like that (we'll see on Roy Williams, but who knows). Now I don't think Randy Moss is that guy anymore. Go offer a 1st Rounder to Miami for Brandon Marshall....they're 0-3 and would rather be in the Luck sweeps anyway- they'd do it.

Cut demanded a trade based on what McDaniels tried to do to him. McDaniels tried to deal him in a three way to Tampa Bay....the Pats sold out McDaniels and made that known to everyone. Cutler was upset- wanted to meet with McDaniels and the Broncos brass. Cutler asked them what the future was and if they promised not to trade him and McDaniels told him no promises. So yeah...I'd want to be dealt if I were Cutler, too as he was just coming off of a Pro Bowl season. Everyone acted as if he had a bad attitude in Denver- he got the shaft is what happened.

We agree with the end result. However, Angelo hasn't been a flop as GM considering they've won 4 division titles during his 10 years as GM...where the last division title we won was in 1990. So his given credibility within the organization counts, whether or not he absolutely inherited the first division or not, is warranted. Also, who here can say they weren't through the roof excited when the Bears dealt for Cutler and signed Peppers? Those moves were awesome and I'll never forget how I felt when the Bears went out and got those guys. Also, it isn't as if Angelo has TOTALLY struck out in the draft....Briggs, Tillman, Forte, Hester, Olsen, Harris, Vasher, Harris, Knox....whether those players are with us or not were great picks for a time and Angelo deserves credit for them. Even if it isn't a lot- he hit a few home runs here and there. However, I believe him to be full of himself at this point. I do also believe Tice has told Angelo what he wanted to hear the past few years in "We can work with the guys we already have" in regards to the OL. That was music to Angelo's ears because it was cheap. If that is true- it is still ALL of Angelo's fault because that is his job to make that determination. Some is Tice's fault where he can go and say, "Get me some veteran help in here" rather than just relying on Carimi (even though I'm a huge Gabe fan) and Webb on the outside. Angelo invested sooo much into Cutler himself, he failed to address weapons in front and around him appropriately. Angelo said himself when they went after Cut, "We have to be in it to win it." Too bad he hasn't been in it since they brought #6 over.
-
SERIOUSLY....yes he's a very big part of it considering we took him very high and he's incapable of playing either T position.
-
Angelo is a football guy also, no question. That OL he molded around Olin during the '05/'06 years was a monster OL and I believe he knows what it takes to build an OL. However, what he fails to acknowledge or isn't willing to is the Chris Williams pick really really really cost the Bears. Everything has crumbled from there really- having to bring in Orlando Pace to play LT after developing Chris Williams for an entire year really hurt as that move also flopped. Need we discuss the Frank Omiyale addition a year later? The Bears haven't cut bait with Williams and Omiyale yet and I have no idea why. The best component of our returning OL was Roberto Garza- who they decided to move inexplicably to C. I'm glad Kreutz was allowed to walk, but if this was the Bears best replacement plan for Olin- maybe they should've given Olin what he wanted. Moving Garza hurt more than it helped IMO. Drafting Gabe Carimi was a great pick...although it was no-brainer who fell right into Angelo's lap. I credit him for the pick, but credit him minimally. A couple of guys the Bears could have had this past off-season were Tyson Clabo (RT) and Harvey Dahl (RG) both from Atlanta who went for very reasonable deals (Clabo back to Atlanta and Dahl to St. Louis respectively). Dahl could have started at RG with Garza at C and Clabo at RT and could have worked Carimi in at LT or be a backup swing T for both Clabo and Webb for a year. Either way you look at it- the Bears had options up front and didn't exhaust them. This should ultimately cost Angelo his job.

Thanks for sharing your potential insider info...and I absolutely believe it. I am not one who believes coaches should get fired weekly or yearly...I believe coaches should be given long tenures to implement what they'd like to do as it takes a long time to build an organization. Tom Landry had 7 losing seasons in his first 7 years as a HC....we never would have heard of Tom Landry in today's NFL. With that being said- I wanted Martz fired after the Giants game last year. Yeah, I know...we were 3-1 and the offense had its' moment early on. However, that was the most negligent and horrifying disregard I have seen for the welfare of a player in all of my time following football. That was our franchise QB we just traded a boatload of high picks for out there getting destroyed. What makes me so upset is we saw a very similar negligent and disregard or our QBs health last Sunday. Who is to say we won't see it again in the near future? I've always believed Martz to be a mastermind, however, it's clear his offense has run its' course in today's NFL. If it hadn't...he'd still be in Detroit calling plays or would be a HC somewhere. I really hate to suggest the Bears should invest into another OC as it would be Cutler's 4th in 5 years if they were to pull the plug on Martz at the end of the year (or 6th if they changed mid-season and again at season's end).
