I'd love to say the Bears are in a position of advantage here as they can wait to see how Urlacher plays this year and then they can decide if he's worth a multi-year deal. I don't think there is any question U-Boat plays well- none. Since Lovie and his staff have been sooooo good at developing his own talent on defense....maybe we can just let Urlacher go? Lets face it- If Lovie didn't inherit, trade for or sign a star defender....Lovie would have been long gone by now. Think about it. As far as we're all sure of it- Urlacher can still play and this coaching regime needs him as bad as they'll need any player outside of Cutler. I'd sign him to a 3yr/27mil deal with 12 guaranteed starting this season. Make the last year worth 10mil and decide two years from now whether or not you want him back for 10 mil for that last season when he's 36. I'm not sure if all of this can be done with the new CBA and whether or not there would be a cap penalty for restructuring his deal for this season....but that is something I would explore as going season to season with a HOF like Urlacher is going to cost us a lot more money IMO.

I apologize if this was mentioned in an article I may have missed.... Where does this rank him among highest paid RBs? I believe it would be outside of the top 5 but inside of the top 10. Nice work.

Hopefully the NFL waits until he's cleared to return from his ACL Injury and then gives him a 4 game suspension if the police report holds true. I have no use for people who fight with police. Neither should anyone else on this board.

Agreed. Eli has also put up numbers to boot as he threw for like 5000 yards last year. Regardless of being in a great position to succeed...he's succeeded in a big way.

Ro Williams had serious maturity issues to go along with the fact that he couldn't play. Colombo was a bust due to injuries, but he had red flags with knee problems at BC. That was a very poor draft by Angelo.

The more I read about this guy and watch high lights on him- the more I like about him. If guys like Lovie/Marinelli say SMC is a DE.........he's a DE. They've seen enough DEs to know what they look like.

Yeah well those two OTs.....one flopped at T and has been moved inside to G and the other had season ending surgery last year....twice. The other Tackles on the team are Webb and Louis (who is a G).... It would be stupidity not to address this area at some point in this draft.

I agree with you, however....they may play less Cover 2 (they've played less and less every year) and this could be Emery's pick as Hightower would be his MLB of the future. I don't think they'll take Hightower.....but McShay heard this from somewhere.

Take it FWIW, but McShay has the Bears taking Hightower at 19 OVER Coples who goes #20. McShay states in the opening paragraph he based his final picks on talking to scouts/personel around the league.....for him to predict Hightower over Coples to the Bears is surprising. I will say this- I want Emery to draft who he wants and not who Lovie/Tice/Marinelli want. If he feels Hightower can be Urlacher's eventual successor then let Emery do his job and make that pick.

I doubt Emery would dig JA, but I could see how it could come off that way. Emery has nothing but love for JA and rightfully so.

Jones looks like Leonard Little in my view, which is good. I had my heart set on a LT, but the more I hear it just isn't worth taking an OT at 19 as there probably won't be great value there. Regardless....they really need to develop a LT. I believe they're bluffing everyone with their want at DE and believe they'll deal up/down to take a T.

Was this recent on the SCORE? I remember listening to the broadcast where they expected a game or two....but that was back in March. I agreed with them at the time, but the more and more that actually comes out about this issue...I'm not so sure anymore. Everything I've heard since is that he didn't even punch that woman....or anyone else for that matter. The investigating parties have already closed the case reference any wrongdoing. If that is indeed true- I can't see how he'd get suspended at all.

This could all be speculation, but we'll see. If it is indeed true- I wouldn't touch an OL with as little of the 225 bench reps that is potentially a pothead.....pot doesn't exactly help you get stronger.

I think Conte will be a nice player for us, but I agree they need help. Wright can go away as I wouldn't mind him being cut.
