  1. Have we forgotten how cocky Roy Williams has been towards the Bears through the years? It would be like the Bears bringing in Ernie Sims. No way in hell.
  2. 3rd Round Chris Conte (2011), 3rd Round Major Wright (2010), 6th Round Al Afalava (2009), 4th Round Craig Steltz (2008), 5th Round Kevin Payne (2007), 2nd Round Danieal Manning (2006), 6th Round Chris Harris (2005) The Bears hit a home run with Harris in 2005, but have screwed the pooch at Safety ever since. They screwed the pooch so badly they had to trade to get Chris Harris back. The jury is still out on Major Wright as he was hurt most of last year, but with the limited number of draft picks the Bears have had in 2009/2010...we STILL took Safeties. One of Conte/Wright HAS to pan out for the Bears, or we'll be wasting more draft picks on that position in the future when we have other holes to fill.
  3. Maybe they'll actually show some patience and allow him to develop? They gave up on LeFevour pretty quickly...I'd rather not see us just throw away another Day 2 pick without hesitation again.
  4. I believe this pick to be similar to that of Tommie Harris years ago- where this was the guy the Bears wanted and would have taken him much higher had they had a higher pick. ...And yeah...Carimi is a LT....a really good LT.
  5. Why is everyone so quick to move Carimi to the right side? He blocked Kerrigan, Clayborn and Heyward just this last year....all players who went in the 1st Round yesterday. As a Madison resident- I'm very happy to remind everyone the Badgers beat all of those teams last year. Yeah the Badgers ran a lot, but they threw A LOT as well (or at least a lot more than they should have). I thought Carimi was outstanding in pass protection on the left side as he didn't win the Outland Trophy for nothing. In the run game....he destroyed people.
  6. Yeah the Bears weren't dealing up for WR.
  7. I'm from the Madison, WI area and am very familiar with the Carimi family. The Bears got a hell of a steal tonight...as a Badgers fan- he is as good as any OL we've had in Madison! GREAT PICK....DON'T STOP NOW BOYYYYYYSSS!
  8. I believe that's what the Bears are hoping....I'm hoping one of the big Ts they like so much inexplicably falls to them.
  9. +2 I agree the Bears need a bigger WR at some point...one who Cutler could "throw open" and hit their back shoulder as they're being covered. He can't do that with all of the small WRs the Bears currently have. I believe that is a big reason as to why Cut loved throwing to Aromashodu so much. However- they can find other ways of addressing that type of WR without using a 1st Rounder on one.
  10. I agree...it's a good thing he isn't our best anything. I would cut the cord on Chris Williams as he hasn't excelled anywhere upfront as he is far too soft. I'm hoping everything works out for the Bears and they can grab a LT to groom while Frank Omiyale holds down LT for the very short term. I'm rooting for Edwin Williams and Lance Louis to pull down one of the G spots while the Bears bring in a G via FA....whenever (if) that starts. I feel good about Webb on the right side and Olin returning for his 500th season at Center. The Bears need a lot of work up front, but they're kidding themselves if they feel Chris Williams will be a part of that solution moving forward.
  11. In reference to the OL situation...I agree I am VERY curious to see what they do with Chris Williams. I've seen enough to label him a bust and move on, but that's just me. I would be fine with Webb returning to camp next year as our starter at RT...the youngster shows terrific potential and his progress was astounding. The rest of the offensive line? Yikes....I'm even uneasy with Kreutz at C these days. I'm hoping Lance Louis has a big camp and pulls down a job.
  12. I believe this tagging (if it stands) means two things. 1. He won't play for the New England Patriots next year 2. He won't play for the Chicago Bears next year The only move that could set Mankins over the top ticked off at New England more...was them tagging him this year. It's smart by NE, as they won't lose Mankins for nothing and someone will give up a few picks to get him. I would be SHOCKED if Angelo deals any draft picks this year. I just don't see it feasible for him to do so after giving up so many picks for Cut (worth it) and losing the 2nd Rounder on Gaines Adams (which I believe also would have been worth it). We also can't forget recent early draft picks flopping in Gilbert and Iglesias. Angelo needs a few of his 'red shirt' projects to hit and he needs a few more from this draft very badly.

    Mock Drafts

It's hard to argue the Bears SHOULDN'T go OT in RD 1, but we should reserve judgment until we get closer to the draft and see what could potentially be available when we pick. I want the FO to take a player they actually like rather than just taking a OT just because. I do agree the Bears need to address in adding more bodies and options to the OL. The fact that Webb came in from the practice squad to hold down the starting RT spot speaks volumes at what little depth the Bears actually have up front. We're fortunate we've been as healthy as we've been in that regard. I will speak up for Webb and point out how far he has come at RT. I watched W17 with multiple Packer fans who were all impressed with how Webb handled himself against Matthews and quickly pointed out how bad their 1st Rounder Bulaga looked compared to Webb.
  14. While I agree I'll tip my hat to Lovie and Rod....we need to realize that the defense SHOULD be good. There is a lot of money/pro bowls on that side of the ball with a system that has been in place for seven years. It isn't unfair to say results HAVE to be there. I'm sure the coaching staff would agree with this sentiment.
  15. Chester Taylor anyone? I don't believe we gave Chester 12 million to get 7 touches a game. Let him run routes out of the H-Back role here and there...he needs to be on the field a lot more.
  16. I can't believe what I'm reading. We'd be better off going forward with Orton than Cutler? Orton has been throwing against prevent defenses most of the year, playing from behind and his stats are inflated. Anyone that has followed the Broncos or had him in fantasy football knows it. Have people forgotten Orton's inability to break glass from 20 yards? As soon as it gets cold out Orton's primitive arm-strength will stick out like a sore thumb. Yeah...you're right. Orton is so awesome Denver drafted Tim Tebow to succeed him. GTFO! As far as Cutler being a disappointment, it's hard to argue that at this point. His little statement of "I'd go right after him (Hall) tomorrow" shows how immature he is. He's gotta grow up and everyone knows it. For people to act like Cut having three different OCs/Offenses the past three years shouldn't have been that big of a problem need to get their head examined. Cutler's career has been ruined because how it ended in Denver and the Bears following suit with an unstable OLine and offensive coaching staff. If you want to be disappointed in Cutler at this point...that's fine. But to give up on him already? Don't post here and support the Bears if/when he proves you wrong because the only rational way to give up on Cutler this early is if you're wanting him to fail.
  17. Attribute that to Peppers. They held him almost the entire game. Also attribute a few of the pass interference penalties due to the Packer secondary not being able to run with the Bears WRs. (Hester was gone when he juked Woodson and Woodson had to yank him down). Anyone else think that "blow to the head PF" on Melton was BS? The Pack were looking at a 3rd and Goal from the 9 before that call and wound up scoring the go-ahead TD on that drive. With those things being said- Cutler played poorly tonight and we indeed were very fortunate Collins didn't pick that throw over the middle on the game winning drive. Regardless, I'm thrilled with the Bears being 3-0 and I KNOW they're for real.
  18. I would be shocked if the Bears weren't in the running for Faneca or another G. They KNEW they had to address the OL at some capacity this off-season and didn't do it in the draft.
  19. If that were true...they would have taken a LB with that pick. Angelo has taken an LB in every draft except this one....which is understandable considering the depth at LB and our lack of draft picks.

    Alan Faneca

I'm a little alarmed how the Bears haven't found an OL in the draft yet...perhaps they already knew they were going to look at FA's.
