I'd say for the Vikings it was a good move given there lack of depth at the WR position currently and the fact that outside of that they are a borderline super bowl team. However, for the Bears, it would have been a very poor trade, imo.

3rd rounders can be pretty valuable picks. Good to develop olineman and just depth in general. I wouldn't have traded for Moss. I'd deal a 3rd for a good olineman but I wouldn't call a 3rd not-valuable. Usually late 1st through 3rds tend to be pretty valuable because you get a shot at pretty solid athletes for cheap and you have to hope a decent % of those pan out.

If we wanted a vet receiver to help, we should have went after TJ Whoseyourmamma. The Bears need oline help and stat.

Sounds like Collins might move to the 3rd string. Lovie was impressed with Hanie and the reason Collins is our backup isn't because he's the better QB, it has more to do with the fact that he's more familiar with Martz offense than Hanie is at this point. And that has more to do with the fact that Hanie was hurt in the pre-season and as a result didn't get too many reps in this new system.

Grant hasn't really stuck in the NFL because of his looming suspension more than anything. It isn't his lack of production. He's still a pretty strong end and I have read many articles raving about the strong camp he had in Miami. However, it was a numbers game and with him not going to get a starting spot in Miami it was decided that he'd go elsewhere.

I would imagine that the Chargers aren't going to be trading him, but I'd obviously make an offer. I would offer up Harris and our 2nd rounder.

Did you see the camera shots of him during the 2nd quarter? Martz was huddled over talking to him and it looked like Jay was in a whole other world. I've never seen Cutler look like that. Never. And I realize there are other symptoms, but the dude was getting killed. I think I read that at one point he was getting hit on more than 75% of the passing plays and he finished the game being sacked on 45% of passing plays. That is probably the most ridiculous stat I've ever heard of. It shouldn't really come as a shocker that he'd suffer some sort of injury (or phobia) as a result of it. I'm quite concerned of what sort of long-term impacts this game will have on Jay. Will he get happy feet, will he have no confidence in our offense, will he never recover from this? It might seem a little panicky, but shit, this type of stuff doesn't happen too often and I remember what happened to David Carr after he got killed in Houston. Prior to that, he was considered a pretty damn promising QB who had shown some nice things in the NFL.

I guarantee at least 1 first or 2nd is used on a lineman. I would be fine if we signed a FA and used our top 2 picks on an olineman this year.

Sounds like Jay Cutler suffered his 1st concussion when Greg Olsen whiffed on a block and Cutler got killed and fumbled the football. At least that is what all of the Chicago radio media seem to be reporting. Olsen had one of the worse games I've ever seen. He gave up a few sacks on his own, stopped running on multiple passes (2 of which led to picks). They were poor passes regardless, but at least one of them wouldn't have resulted in a pick had he not quit on the route. That would mean Cutler might have suffered a 2nd concussion on the hit he took on Ross at the end of the 2nd half. That is a pretty scary thing because all medical statistics state that the secondary blows after suffering a concussion are supposedly worse than the initial blow. Oh and once again, people called Cutler a pussy. He took 4 sacks after getting a concussion. That is just mind-blowing and I can't believe how stupid our doctors must be that they didn't check him out in between series, etc.

He had two points today: 1. He's almost positive Hanie will be making his first career start on Sunday. 2. Hub was saying that they couldn't do 3 step drops because the receivers can't be trusted. Cutler had to move Hester on many plays because he was lined up on the wrong side. He flat out did not trust that the receivers would be where they were supposed to be.

I think that sounds about right. After that moment, it looked like Jay was pretty glossy in general. Even in the few sideline shots he didn't look like himself. The thing that I think irritated me more than anything was that we were almost at halftime, down 3-0 (which was a blessing) and I couldn't wait to get to the half so the team could just take a breather and hopefully re-adjust and there we are, dropping Jay back again letting him get the 9th sack and get hit another 2 times. So while I think Jay was dumb for trying to be the "tough" guy and his play definitely suffered because of it (i.e, he was completely incapable of making a quick decision because he had no idea what the hell was going on).

A Lovie Smith quote: "He took some hits so it's hard to say exactly when," coach Lovie Smith said. "Right now, I don't have all of that information, but we need to protect him more. You can only take so much and tonight was a little too much for him."

I thought his half time quote was pretty true. He said, try getting hit that many times and see how hard it is to get rid of the ball at that point or even know what is going on.

Oh and I bet even money that it will eventually come out that Cutler suffered his concussion far earlier in the game.

I'm sorry, but no QB in the history of the game could have done anything last night. Why don't you ask QB's what matters most. I guarantee they will tell you protection. This game had nothing to do with Cutler. It could have been Cutler, Orton (who would have actually died), Brady, Manning. Didn't matter, they all would have died.

A moving pocket isn't an easy thing to do when your oline can't even create a pocket. But I forgot, you think our QB, who is widely regarded as one of the toughest QB's in the league (in terms of what he can take physically) is a pussy.

He needs to be cut. He blocks as bad as Greg Olsen. Oh and I'm so sick of Olsen's up and downs. The guy gives up on passing plays, blocks worse than me. He's such a jackass.

I will definitely agree with Martz not making some serious adjustments. I also want to poitn out that I now can't stand Collinsworth. I'm literally convinced Cutler pissed in his cheerio's or something. NO QB in NFL history would have been able to do anything in last nights game. And for those saying Orton is the savior, Orton would have died.

I've been saying for a while, if Tice is able to do anything with this group, than he's the greatest oline coach ever. This line is freakin terrible. And if anyone and I mean anyone wants to give CUtler any blame, than they need a serious dose of reality. No QB and I mean no QB would be able to succeed in that environment. The fact that he was still alive in this game is shocking enough to me. It sucks that we have a franchise QB but hinder him so massively.

I think the Bears should win this game, but it is on the road against a team desperate for a win. If the Giants lose, there season is done, so they'll bring everything and do everything. Bears will need to bring there A game. Protect the football, keep Cutler upright (and give him time) and get to Manning (3+ sacks today and plenty of hits). We do that and this should be a fun game to watch tonight!!!

I'm worried. Giants are in a must-win situation, playing in a home game and while they have looked bad so far this year, two of there losses were to very good football teams (Titans & Colts). Can the Bears win, absolutely, but is it an easy win, No. No game is. The past few years this team has struggled against teams that many thought it could or should beat and has had some quality wins against some of the better teams in the league. Lets see if it can beat a team it should beat. Lets go Bears!!!!
