I wouldn't mind bringing SHarpre in here. I think he's a good fit as a cover 2 safety.

Jones has suitors but wants to stay with Bears
DABEARSDABOMB replied to Wesson44's topic in Bearstalk
Agreed and I'd welcome him back. -
I'd be quite happy signing iether of those guys.
-
I could live with St. Clair and the FA signing, Williams and Beekman. It isn't bad, but the Bears would still need to try and pick up a tackle or a guard in the middle rounds of the draft, imo. I do think signing both would take away the immediate need to tackle a guy in RD 1.
-
Personally, Andrews is the guy I want. I think he's the prototypical RT and injuries are really what slowed him down last year. He's not a pro bowler, but he's at a level just below, imo.
-
Rex was classy and I wish him nothing but the best. I hope he doesn't go to the Vikings but aside from that I'll be cheering like hell anytime he plays anyone but the Bears. One of my personal favorites to wear a Bear uniform.

Haynseworth is much much better than the Tommie Harris I've seen since his initial injury. Not too bummed about how much he got and Hall is a young, above average Cb. Again, not shocked that he got what he did. What shocked me was that not many teams were interested in picking him up after the Raiders waived him.

If you sign Barnes to go with the recent FA pickup would you really need to address oline in the draft? You'd have Beekman, Williams, Barnes, and the FA all on the right side of 30, plus the sagy vet Kreutz.
-
There are a few spots where he'd get to battle for a job and thats one of the spots I'd take. If Minny missed out on some guys he would fit in very nice there (Berrian likes him and would support him, plus he'd have a strong running game and a great line).
-
This is a pretty good pickup which could turn into a total bargain. We knew what we had in a lot of these guys. Garza and St. Clair are mediocre and this guy is younger and versatile and at least mediocre and some experts thinks he has the potential to actually even turn into a solid left tackle (let alone a right tackle or a guard). This is a fantastic signing. I still will be livid if the team doesn't add a good FA vet WR plus a WR via the draft.

Vikings have the money? I would love picking up Housh and in all honesty the Bears have the money to make the impact signing, but I actually think Holt is a better WR and better option.
-
Is he still playing at a high level?
-
Hillarious. Glad to see he didn't get totally screwed.

The Bears have tons of cap room. Giving a vet like Brooks a one year or two year deal with a little signing bonus would be chump change, especially since the Bears aren't expected to have to dish out any mega deals this yaer. There is no reason the Bears couldn't resign St. Clair (or sign a FA olineman) plus sign a WR like Holt/Coles, bring in a guy like Brooks and maybe sign a safety that gets cut. None of the above would screw up the long-term cap rammifications, nor would it prevent the Bears from giving a ton of money to orton if he proves himself this season like I hope he will.

If it was possible to position it to where we could have Urlacher, Briggs, and Brooks all on the field at teh same time I'd be down. Galloway is a little old but still effective when healthy. I'd prefer Coles or Holt but Galloway gives us some nice speed and a deep threat but I don't know if he's the right fit with Orton running the show.
-
If we don't get Coles or Holt, I'll be livid. Get one of them, trade down and take the best available wide-out in the early 2nd (hopefully Nicks). Otherwise if you can't trade down, target oline or LB in the 1st round (or Sanchez if he slides) and than grab the WR in the 2nd. Pencil in the FA signing, the 2nd round pick, Hester and Bennett and let the vet do some heavy teaching. It be the best WR corps the Bears have had in years.
-
Hakeem and Robinskie to me grade out as a bit more sure things and I really think either could turn into 100 reception machines.
-
Is Smith really going to fall that far? From being a potential #1 to sliding all the way out of the 1st round.
-
Maluga will be a great player. If Crabtree fell to us I'd shit myself. It won't happen though, unless he's going to miss more time than anticipated.
-
For those of you saying that Oher is a better LT prospect, lets remember that some experts thought that Williams better projected as a RT. Whose to say the Bears don't go with someone like Oher and use Williams as the RT.
-
5 mill is a bit too much for a guy who ultimately should be a depth chart guy. However, given the need the Bears have they might just have to sign him (since there aren't many better FA options). The problem is St. Clair will ultimately slide to guard if all goes well and I think paying him 5-6M a year to be a guard is ridiculous (since the Bears are clearly going to take another 1st day pick at tackle and have Williams benchmarked for the left side).
-
This would be a nice pickup and allow the Bears to continue to groom Beekman for the center spot when Kreutz is done. Plus if the Bears do what I want and draft a tackle early, plus resign St. Clair they'll have two tackle spots and a guard spot locked up long-term (ie, St. Clair plus Williams/Pick).
-
If the Bears want to target WR, I think there best bet is to move down into the beginning of the 2nd and take on of Bey, Nicks, Robinskie that are on the board (one of them will be there). Than use your other 2nd on the tackle that fell and you'll probably have picked up an extra 3rd round pick via the trade which you can use to snag a safety and a guard. So your first day picks all are addressing need positions. On top of this the Bears must sign a WR via FA. I'm not talking about breaking the bank on Housh, rather picking up a Holt or Harrison. Get a very good veteran who might not have a 1000 yard season left in him, but should be able to get 600-700 yards while mentoring the younger WR's (ie, Bennett, Hester, and the top pick). I think that as a whole you'd be talking about a much better WR corps (as the vet is better than Book was....Hester is better than Hester was last year....Bennett improves as the 4th....and the top pick is the 3rd and he would have more talent than Davis or whomever else). Plus Davis is cheap and can be a 3 or 4 early in the season if the younger WR isn't quite ready. I'd be thrilled if the Bears did the above and I don't think it is too unrealistic. It's not like I'm talking about them breaking the bank.

Rosenfels is solid and did well when used in Houston. Made some mistakes but I think he's got some potential. Still, like others said better him than Cassel but as a whole the Vikings QB won't be asked to do a ton and should have ample opportunities to succeed given the strong ground game and oline the Vikes have.

I assume Taylor will retire, but if he didn't, I would be completely interested in bringing him in to be Fotrte's backup. Taylor is a class act who still has a little bit of gas left in the tank (especially in a reserve role) plus he'd be a great influence on the Bears.
