  1. Well I do know he can participate in training camp which makes me believe that he's only banned upon the start of the regular season (maybe preseason as well). It would definitely be cool if he could get snaps in pre-season because it should help him get at least some experience before he has to sit out six weeks. I also think if he can play in pre-season the team may try to get him a lot of initial reps and than slow him down as the main guys that will start the season get additional reps (Dusty, Tommie, etc).
  2. Brown is off the market. He is expected to sign a deal with the Titans and he will report to there minicamp tomorrow.
  3. We can only hope that he works out real hard and is able to get back in game shape by the time his suspension is up (and obviously in good enough shape to perform all of the mini camp and training camp sessions). Is he able to play in the pre-season?
  4. Surprised Runnels got dropped. Of course I based a lot of his hype on the comments made by Stoops about what a great fullback Runnels was and how much OU was going to miss him. Brother Aba are fantastic special teams guys though and the FB's such as McKie did a really good job last year for the Bears.
  5. If he doesn't get offered a ton of money, than yes. Bring him in, let him be the third string till he gets healthy and than tell him, once he's 100% he will be able to battle it out. That said, it won't happen...he won't be a Bear.
  6. This is a pretty good sounding move. According to the Trib Brown is narrowing it down between the Titans and Bears and a deal is expected to be reached by the end of the week with one of the clubs. Brown would be a significant upgrade over Adrian Peterson as the backup and would be a tremendous insurance policy for Benson. Brown is very young, proved he could start in the league over the course of two seasons and developed into a 1000 yard rusher before being demoted last year by the Titans due to a squabble where he asked to be traded. Brown and Benson are similar runners though but both should benefit from the ocassional dose of Garret Wolfe.
  7. The Bears need more speed guys. We already have Moose and to a lesser extent Rashied when it comes to middle of the field WR's. I do wish Keyshawn the best of luck and I look forward to hearing him as an analysis either this year or next year (depending on when he retires).
  8. Ya, I haven't heard any negatives about his work ethic. I know there are people questioning his character about that rap song he made but I could care less, I know I've said similar things and still do (I love joking around and I'm convinced if people ever heard some of the crap I said with some of my friends they'd be greatly offended but the key is that we all know that we aren't serious when it comes to half of the crap we say). As far as his blocking goes, it is not a strong point but he has the strenght to be a good blocker and part of his poor blocking comes from the system Miami runs (quite frankly he was more an extra WR than a TE) and even than the bad QB play from Miami really had a negative effect on his progress.
  9. I Think that had more to do with Olsen having a great combine/workouts and him moving out of the Bears range (luckily he slid down to us).
  10. I think we need to resign Ian Scott, that way when Tank misses about half of the season the Bears aren't having to completely rely on an odd cast (I say that because I think we will have a much tougher schedule this season and our division is only going to get better; how couldn't it). I'm just glad that it seems like these problems are behind Tank. I really do think we've heard the last of him and if something else comes up, well he won't be on the Bears.
  11. I completely agree. Olsen just oozes with talent and has the potential to be a true game changing TE. I really really can't say enough how great it was that he fell into the Bears lap. So far he's saying all the right things do, now he just has to do the right things.
  12. I'd be a big fan of McKnight and Trannon. I think McKnight is a good athlete and a solid WR who had some injury problems and I'm surprised he wasn't drafted. Trannon is a big physical guy and I'd like to see him stick on the practice squad, add some weight/muscle and be converted to the TE position. He also had his development hampered as he was two sport star in college for the Spartans (played Bball there as well). Completely agree. Solid blocker, good vision, decent hands. I'm a fan of this move. He'll never be a star but I could see him being a very good backup RB.
  13. Considering the number of db's the team drafted I think we will no longer see Hester in the defensive back field, in fact I think its pretty much a foregone conclusion that Devin Hester will start getting more and more touches on offense and slowly be converted into a receiver (with the hopes of him developing into a Steve Smith). It was interesting that the Bears were planning on going WR in Rd 2 (with the 37th) but when Gonzalez was gone they moved down and than never took a wideout (they must have really liked Anthony).
  14. Yes, finally a Clone comes to the Bears. I can only hope that has the same effect as my Hawkeyes always going to play on the NFL team I hate (the Colts). Cause now a team I hate (ISU) has a player coming to Chicago. Is a superbowl championship next...I think so!!!
  15. I think the last thing the Bears need to take is a QB. They have Orton as the 3, Griese as a 2 and Rex as the one. Next year will be when they consider a QB and more likely that would be via FA or a big time trade (and only if Rex faltered).
  16. Nah...actually it doesn't hurt at all. I'm still surprised. I figured I'd be at least sore from 15 stitches but the only painful thing was finally taking off the bandage and ripping off half of my eyelash, lol.
  17. At least you guys got to choose why your head hurts...I just have to deal with stitches in my head
  18. The guy I'd love to fall all the way to the Bears pick in the 7th round is Rhema McKnight.
  19. I like these two picks. And screw Troy Smith, I'd prefer Orton...far better tools.
  20. I really like Brown, mainly because he is a stud against the run and a solid pass rusher. Ogunleye is also a good De against the run and a solid pass rusher. I think both of them are a big reason our defense is consistently good (albeit Ogunleye hasn't been the monster pass rusher I expected him to be).
  21. Screw depth, we should have the ability to draft for talent and if this team is drafting for depth we shouldn't have taken a DE in the 2nd round nor should they have taken Wolfe or another LB because oline and DT are bigger depth positions. The 2nd day, go ahead, make some depth picks, but early on this team has the luxury of being able to get best available talent and utilize it to make the team better. They did do that with the first round pick and it sounds like our 2nd round pick is pretty solid (although there were other guys I personally liked more, mainly because I didn't see any need for a DE). However, JA has earned the benefit of the doubt but that doesn't mean I can't rip him to shreds if this ends up being a horrible draft (not with all the different picks this team had, especially considering this was a deep draft).
  22. One difference, Turner is an absolute tough runner and Wolfe just isn't. That said he has a shitload of speed and could be a solid change of pace back but I'd have liked a back that we could have used not only as a change of pace back but as a potential starter in case Benson got hurt or didn't pan out.
  23. Interesting, DE is the last position I expected the Bears to go with, especially that early. Is he going to be more of a DT? It would make sense if he played both DE/DT and he was gonna slide in there but I just don't think this squad needs another DE.
