He better be but they aren't going to give Babich the DC title and not let him do it. If they wanted to do that they'd demote Babich and give Marinelli the DC/Assistant Head Coach title not the dline/assistant head coach title. I'm about to throw up if Babich isn't held at least semi accountable for the pathetic defensive schemes.

He played guard in college but I believe most scouts pinned him as a better center prospect for the pro's and the Bears have said some pretty good things about his prospects at center as well. I believe we'll see the Bears pick up another tackle and guard in the off-season (one via FA, one via the draft) and than target a DE and QB in the first two rounds while looking to the FA market for the WR position and going with Hester/Bennet/Booker as the guys that compliment the #1 WR brought in.

I do believe this season showed us that Briggs, not Urlacher, is our best current linebacker. Briggs played incredibly all season.

Urlacher is making me sick. He needs to shut up and quickly. I don't question his work ethic or heart when it comes to football but I question what he says and I am sick of his act. He's constantly making excuses for the Bears poor play and thats not what the defensive leader should be doing. I want Urlacher to stand up and say your right, I didn't have my best season nor did the defense. We need to make some adjustments and get things fixed and I know I still have a lot left and that I'll be able to play at a pro bowl level. Thats it....shut up with your excuses and don't tell me I don't know football because it didn't take an expert to notice you were playing slower and missed more tackles. Certainly the Bears were playing you so close to the line 90% of the time that you weren't even able to utilize your speed or get involved in plays (because when you weren't right on the line you were way way deep).

I wouldn't be shocked if Babich ended up getting demoted back to his previous job. Anyone think Mike Brown ends up getting hired as our new secondary coach (if he decides to retire?).

Interesting...I hope we get him on board quickly because he'd be a welcome addition. He's still one of Lovie's guys but he brings a completely different attitude and style to the table while using a similar philosphy.

Remember, a big reason our secondary looked worse this past season was the inconsistent and most of the time awful pass rush by our defensive line/linebackers. I'm not about to invest a #1 pick in a CB unless we've already added a pass rush specialist and/or upgraded the QB/WR position (all bigger needs than our CB's, imo).

In that case it would be dumb not to keep him around. That is a lot of cap room to just have "dead".

Wait, the Bears aren't going to cut a guy if it is actually going to increase there cap hit this season, imo. If thats the case they would be better off keeping Tillman at the CB position and moving Vasher to the free safety position or keeping Vasher as the nickel corner.

Vasher has the good natural instincts of a safety but his poor tackling ability would make hinder him at the safety position imo. However, I am a big fan of moving Tillman to the safety spot. I believe that would give us a very strong duo with Tillman/Payne (or Steltz who the Bears are still quite high on). The McBride could slide into the nickel position and Graham looks to be a nice corner so the Bears would just need a nice FA signing who could start at CB (not necessarily a star, just a quality starter whose comfortable in the cover 2). I truly believe the pass rush and safeties are the most important positions in the cover 2 when it comes to defending the pass.

I'm sure I'll be driving up to San Fran to see that game.

I still don't think there is a better active coach in the game (not named Bellicheck) than Shanny and I would take him in a heartbeat and make Marinelli the DCoord. I realize the Bears have a lot of money tied to Lovie and he wouldnt' deserve to be fired but if a guy like Shanny is out there you take him.

Martz and Marinelli don't work well together and while obviously both would be settling for assistant jobs I don't think they'd work together regardless.

He's at least a solid special teams player. I'm really glad Manning is starting to emerge though because I'm feeling a lot better about him helping out at the safety position with Brown down (or at least I assume he will be the one who steps in).

I'm actually going to be flying during the game (to Chicago). This is literally going to be like the 3rd game I've missed in the past 4-5 years. Hopefully the Bears can take care of business and things work out there way and they get into the playoffs!!!

He's also sticking to playing one position where as the team had been moving him all over the place in the past.

Come on guys...get rid of the coolaid. The Bears have gotten lit-up by teams with efficient QB's (if not even teams with inefficient QB's). Brees will put up 450+ yards on us with ease unless Babich figures out how to effectively blitz and create pass pressure for the first time this year. The only way we win is if the weather is beneficial and aids in stopping Drew Brees.

After this year, I better not see Davis anywhere near our roster. His hands are awful. Than again we have one of the worse WR corps in NFL history. Oh and Hester is clearly our best WR. We really need to make an impact signing at the WR front as well as pick up another pick (and than use Hester/Bennett/FA signing/Draft pick/Veteran (Maybe even Booker is that guy still).

It won't happen because Arizona will want at least a 1st round pick this year. They aren't going to want to wait a year to get value.
