I am simple. There are some great tackles available and I want one fa wideout and one he drafted wide out. Fill the rest however they want based upon available talent and second/third wave of free agency.

Thank goodness it is Friday - I need something to balance that stink of OC's you just wrote about Adam. I will say - proof is in the puddy - but there was something extremely refreshing from Getsy's press conference and the snippets of quotes.

There is zero chance I am giving Monty $12M a year. I don't know that I would give him half of that. That said - I don't think Monty is getting that. He is a good, but not great running back who doesn't have that elite game-breaking skillset that gets paid. I would suspect the market would value him similarly and he wouldn't get a big contract, which than means, if you are paying $5/$6M, that is probably okay when you have a rookie QB and have other needs to fill with draft picks, etc. But no - I am not giving Monty big money and I like Monty, he is perfectly good. If new regime likes Herbert (and i liked enough of what I saw from him) and someone else was willing to give up a 3rd rounder for Monty - I am on board with that cause we need capital. But I'm wrong guy cause I would be blowing up our roster on defensive side looking to claw back as many picks as possible while taking cap pain now to create massive flexibility. I also probably would be dealing back with those picks (including getting some future picks) so you really start to build a real stockpile of assets that has you consistently operating from a full cupboard vs. a barren one. I felt like Pace was always borrowing forward vs. building up a reserve that really gives you flexibility.

Ideally Bears get one of those wideouts plus an olave. I am tired of hoping some crappy person jumps out and want to get more talent. I kind of like idea of Kirk/Shark/Sutton plus draft pick. Schuster and Beckham interest me at right price too.

Yep - Pep was a QB coach in Chicago with Lovie. Seems like it will end up being Lovie.
-
My confidence is lower on Rod. Bears got completely pants and ended up hiring a poor ST coach. They had 3 options, including Tabor, who were all top 10 ST coaches and they end up with a guy whose units have been mediocre to bad the past 5 years…including that #25 ranking this past year with Niners. And one of big reasons they missed on their #1 was Packers through more money his way. I can’t imagine it was big bucks given we are talking about special teams and there are no salary cap expectations.

I am assuming it will eventually be Marinelli.
-
This - the giants were injured. He has consistently developed wideouts before last year - including with the Giants and with the Broncos. He's a really really good get.
-
This is a good hire - Cousins had his best season last year (arguably) and he is relatively experienced. Plus ties to Getsy - which is important. Consistent offensive philosophies can be key to unlocking a harmonized unit and I do think fact that he has coached both wideouts and QB's is helpful because there are important nuances to both that likely help in QB development. I also like fact that Getsy has a couple more experienced guys to go with fact this is his first time as OC in the NFL. Caldwell still would have been my #1 but obviously very unrealistic.

The new WR and pass game coordinator coach seems like an excellent hire. https://mobile.twitter.com/MaxMarkhamNFL?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1489002453248790530|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.chicitysports.com%2Fforum%2Fthreads%2Fofficial-poles-front-office-moves-staff-rumors-and-signings.87578%2Fpage-93

I felt like Poles hinted at fact they are going to trade some veterans during some of his road show. I suspect we get some day 2 / day 3 picks, whether it is dangling Mack/Quinn (or dealing Eddie Jackson - not saying you get a day 2 for him). What I am really curious on is the new front office willing to bite the bullet and kind of "write-off" part of the year but accelerate future years by accelerating some of the cap problems into this year (means minimal FA - but totally opens up future years an maybe you can add some additional draft capital).
-
Good point - he was there - but was not at all part of the press conference (nor was he referenced). It really seems like at some point - George decided this was his hire and went out and got his guy (Poles). I thought the below was kind of a good synopsis of maybe Geroge's eventual transformation (or at the very least - some color on the process that seemed unique relative to what I've seen in the more mainstream media). https://dabearsblog.com/2022/the-george-mccas

It was just a press conference so everything I say is a baseless overreaction - but as I just finished I echo what you said az. As a whole I was thoroughly impressed. On poles - while the moment was a little bit for him and you could see he had nerves…once you hear him talk football, his vision, how he wants to modernize the org and instill a culture of curiosity where his people will challenge the status quo and push him and the org forward is nice. I also love fact that he was pretty clear - you want a good offense - you need a line and playmakers. It seems obvious but Bears have really never got that right (and probably part of why they have never really got QB right). One bit that came across to me was the evaluation and valuation. Felt like a Belicheck quote but kind of went in to me that he is going to maximize value - that might mean moving guys early etc but he gets that you need talent but also at right valuation. Also hinted in later media circuit a focus on building through draft and hinted at org finding ways to increase its stockpile of picks (great sign and maybe indicator that he plans to make some big trades…ie mack or Quinn). In general just like fact we got someone who is hungry and ready to challenge himself and surround himself with great people. On Flus - love him. Dude just seems like someone ready for this moment. Loved his answers for how he could help Fields and love the approach he is taking to be the HC. I also liked how pragmatic he will be around setting the tone and expectations around no penalties, hustle, little things etc. While not an offensive mind - I see why they hired him when he talked about his vision for the offense and how he can help and what he found important. I think he has some John Harbaugh / Tomlin in him for that CEO role. Note: Ted Phillips name was not mentioned nor was he there today. Huge item which I really haven’t seen mentioned anywhere (unless I missed it and he was there).

Interesting that Fields has his own segment at the press conference. Shows that they believe in him and setting the right stage. And glad that Justin is there meeting the coaches and getting ready for next year.

It looks like Reich couldn't promote from within or didn't want to - but it seems like the main candidates to do so went with Eberflus. At that point - it seems like Reich made the decision he wants to bring in his own DC (technically Flu's was inherited from the McDaniels fiasco) and let his DC have the flexibility to get his staff. I wonder if Bowles makes his way to Indy (would be a pretty natural fit). Seperately - might Matt Nagy find some form of a "consultant" role on the Colts.
-
I would be good with that. Ideally get something like a 2nd & 4th this year and a 2nd next year but I would be fine with the Rams package or a 2nd this year and next year (which is the equivalent). If I could get a 1st and future 2nd for Mack I would do that too. If I had to keep one I think it would be Mack - let him show he is healthy and than move him. Move Quinn now while his value is high. Both are old and won’t be part of Bears better squads.
-
Bright side is Devonte Adams raved about him (who know maybe Bears sign him). Rodgers loved him so much that after he left Packers first time he made a big push for them to bring him back. He was in charge of 3rd down and evidently was who brought the RPO into Packers offense.
-
I remember I was once excited about Terry O’Shea coming from Chiefs to implement and exciting offense. He was a total dud. Hopefully Getsy is the real deal and is a big name HC candidate in a couple years from his work.
-
I am hoping Champ Kelly sticks around still too - cause he is highly thought of. Will be good to have a variety of diverse views and hopefully a new tone where the new leader looks for his football people to be vocal and have challenging conversations. Sounds like Paces biggest weakness was his dislike of disagreement but healthy disagreement is so huge at really making the best decisions.
-
This is stellar. I like Poles hire more and more. This is a new position and really should strengthen the overall front office. I love that Poles wants another voice to challenge and help and he is also a former linemen and evidently an excellent scout. I get the feeling the days of having bad oline are almost gone!!!
-
This is why I like him - I think he is going to set a high standard and hold his players, himself and the coaches accountable. But in a manner with consistency and fairness. I have no idea how the offense will come together but there is something about flus the leader and CEO that I think is going to work real well.

Hamilton may be more important to Fields development than the OC. It seems like that is Hamilton's specialty (working with young QBs) - so having someone with such a strong track record of that success doing it full time could be the most critical part.
-
Yeah a bunch of various tweets have indicated it. It seems like there is a pretty decent shot (50/50) that this is what is happening. I think this is the Getsy's shot at running his own offense. If he takes Packers OC gig, he won't do play calling (LaFeleur will control) and the same will likely be the case if he follows Hackett. I am a little nervous because they would have a pretty green OC (underneath a defensive HC) - but Pep is very seasoned and maybe that counteracts the greenness at OC. I am impressed at the defensive side - now just a matter of who becomes the DC. But if they get the Raiders interim coach for ST coach and add Marinelli as the dline coach - that's gives you two former head coaches on staff. I think we are going to see a significant shift in the tone around accountability, details around walkthroughs/game-planning, and a higher degree of focus on NO penalties as well as forcing turnovers. Colts were one of the least penalized teams on D over past couple of years.
-
Yeah it sounds like Packers Getsy as OC, Pep Hamilton as QB coach/pass game coordinator and the ST coach you mentioned. I would be shocked if Marinelli doesn't leave Oakland to come to Chicago (if he is interested) and still curious to see if Kafka (who is out of contract) makes his way over as well. I will point out - Pep is experienced, but I'm not sure how experienced Getsy is. So it does seem like a talented, but potentially green offensive staff. Rodgers has gone out of his way to compliment Getsy over past few years though.
-
The good thing is if Poles is really bringing in that Eagle guy for a front office gig - that would be two oline men high up in org which I would have to think means they fully understand the importance of the lines.
