This - I think this means whomever gets him gets him at a more reasonable cost. I do like the Semien back-up although I have no problem with Fields having a true grizzly vet to work with as well (although Semien has been around for a while now and is a pretty solid back-up).

I think the Bears will get Fisher and make an aggressive push for the Bills guy and than role with the rest of the lineman. I presume the Bills guy replaces Daniel's, Packers guy is our center, Whitehair the other guard and than you sign Fisher for LT and move Jenkins over. Borom competes with the rest for guard/center. I kind of expect the Bears will draft skill position players early (vs. oline - at least if they can get a couple of these guys I mentioned in FA). But I expect 1 or 2 wideouts taken early in the draft (at this point) plus a DB (and maybe a safety). I am sure they will take some developmental picks for oline too (but my guess is not until later - if they end up with 2-3 free agency adds on the line - which is my guess). Than next year - they'll leverage the draft and or their big cap space to make another move at bolstering the line (where it makes sense) while also having flexibility to address pass rush and potentially add another (hopefully elite) skill position type player.

Yep - if not its just a solid depth move. He's still young (25/26) and had 6 sacks last year and knows the system. I like how he's using his resources - but do want to see wideout and another olinemen addressed via FA. With Watson getting moved maybe we are about to see some movement on tackle front.

Really like the Pringle pickup. He is big, fast and ascending. Had a long path he took to the NFL but Poles is really familiar with him. He also can return kick-offs. 1yr 4M (2M in incentives). Additionally - St. Brown didn't do a lot with the Packers, but he was behind a lot of people on the depth chart. I will note he is big and fast but reality is he is probably like some of the other fast guys (Goodwin/Byrd) who were scrubs last year. I really want one of Landry/Juju (or Robert Woods) plus a draft pick (or two).

I think that is great for Arob. Good QB, smart coach, and a team that should be playoff bound. That said - I would have liked that deal for Arob on the Bears too (other than it just seemed like Arob/Fields had a great connection).

Goldman won’t count cause he was cut.

I would take Julio and Juju plus a draft pick.

	Did Armstead sign?

Bears Sign Bengals DT Larry Ogunjobi (40M over 3 years)DABEARSDABOMB replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk This one surprised me. At first glance, less about the player, I don't love the allocation of resources here but they do have cap space so will see what the rest looks like. And to a point you made, this was a position they were going to need to handle in the draft, so creates extra flexibility from that standpoint. I was curious how Bears would react with some of the rush of FA olineman resigning with their team right before free agency opened.

There is our 3T, had 7 sacks,16 QB Hits, and 12 TFLs for the Bengals last year.

For those that thought we didn't get enough. Bears actually got more for Mack than Miller (and Bears got way more cap relief too). Pick 48 = 420 points. The 6th round pick will be between 5 and 18 points. Broncos got pick 64 and 96. 64 = 270 points 96 = 116 points 2022 NFL Trade Value Chart

I think it was a good move for them. The price was fair and it was a good use of their cap space. This is one of those win/win moves in my opinion.

That is why I like this deal so much. It signals Bears are not looking for a quick fix, and they are willing to go through some short-term pain for long-term gain. That said - it isn't even that bad of short-term pain. They are getting a 2nd round pick + immediate cap space (6-7M) and they are freeing up playing time for an ascending player like Gipson to show if he can take those steps or not. Gipson will never be Mack, but he could be a pretty solid player and now we will get to see that. In the meantime - they can get a wideout or DB or olineman with that pick and can also use the cap space from Mack to go get a center or something else in free agency....and than they have $30M next year to spend on whatever holes they have too (or ideally to give some young players extensions). And in a year - man $120M in cap space...crazy....
-
Yep - Quinn has to follow and I like it. Mack trade created more cap space this year (6-7M) but next year $30M in extra and next year they now have $121M in cap space. I was hoping they could get more - but given the cap flexibility plus picks they get, this is nice. Quinn I hope gets something similar (his cap is more friendly for an acquiring team).

I don’t know that either team does it though. Cam could get tagged twice - but that rarely happens and Chiefs have cap challenges and may not be able to give Brown the money/tag. We shall see.
-
I think they will get one of the FA LT's.
-
I am simple. There are some great tackles available and I want one fa wideout and one he drafted wide out. Fill the rest however they want based upon available talent and second/third wave of free agency.

Thank goodness it is Friday - I need something to balance that stink of OC's you just wrote about Adam. I will say - proof is in the puddy - but there was something extremely refreshing from Getsy's press conference and the snippets of quotes.

There is zero chance I am giving Monty $12M a year. I don't know that I would give him half of that. That said - I don't think Monty is getting that. He is a good, but not great running back who doesn't have that elite game-breaking skillset that gets paid. I would suspect the market would value him similarly and he wouldn't get a big contract, which than means, if you are paying $5/$6M, that is probably okay when you have a rookie QB and have other needs to fill with draft picks, etc. But no - I am not giving Monty big money and I like Monty, he is perfectly good. If new regime likes Herbert (and i liked enough of what I saw from him) and someone else was willing to give up a 3rd rounder for Monty - I am on board with that cause we need capital. But I'm wrong guy cause I would be blowing up our roster on defensive side looking to claw back as many picks as possible while taking cap pain now to create massive flexibility. I also probably would be dealing back with those picks (including getting some future picks) so you really start to build a real stockpile of assets that has you consistently operating from a full cupboard vs. a barren one. I felt like Pace was always borrowing forward vs. building up a reserve that really gives you flexibility.

Ideally Bears get one of those wideouts plus an olave. I am tired of hoping some crappy person jumps out and want to get more talent. I kind of like idea of Kirk/Shark/Sutton plus draft pick. Schuster and Beckham interest me at right price too.

Yep - Pep was a QB coach in Chicago with Lovie. Seems like it will end up being Lovie.
