Loveland is supposed to be an excellent blocker - with a high degree of athleticism. That is why he went where the Bears took him. Or at least that is what they saw in him to take him where they did. It is the combination of high end blocking tools with high end athleticism that make him a unicorn type of prospect at TE which at least in the eyes of Poles justified him drafting him where he was. Whether Bears scouts are right, we shall see - but this isn't a Jimmy Graham who you knew was in there to catch passes vs. block...he's supposed to kind of have the Jimmy Graham pass catching ability while also being a good run blocker, meaning play actions should work really well with him in there, including in 12 package with Kmet on the field too. Knowing how much Ben Johnson leveraged the playaction game in Detroit - you got to think this is going to be a huge focal point of the Bears offense (also helped that Detroit had a very high octane ground game and oline). BJ was also elite in how he mixed those things up too.

That is me too - I want to see it in the season .

They have tons of cap space and have a player who is still ascending. Having two good tight ends is a multiplier and creates unique match up dynamics for defenses. When you combine that with the wideout crew and a bright offensive mind - you can create match up problems all over the field. Why the heck should the Bears cut someone or trade them and get rid of that. Kmet and Loveland are so complimentary and if you go big you put Loveland out wide and destroy them and you can also run…you can also spread the field and have Loveland out there for size and than shrink and run or use Loveland as a match up. We finally have real unique skill sets all over the field and people want to trade two of them so we can go back to being mediocre at skill position level - screw that - Bears have massive cap space - pile up as much damn talent as possible.

Until we see the oline product at a better rate and more important the QB take a meaningful step forward - I'm in a show me don't tell me state with the franhcise. I think the camp will be the most competitive camp in a decade plus and that should drive to good things, but none of it matters if Caleb can't figure out how to get the ball out faster more consistently, do a better job at pre-read/blitz protection, and be more accurate and in rhythm (reality is more accurate but I think his lack of accuracy last year, especially on deep balls was because he was forcing things). But bottom line - he's got to take a meaningful step forward because the defense while decent has its weakness(es). But I am optimistic as to how we are trending and I think it is a deep and diverse set of skill players, an improved oline, and a better coaching staff (on paper). But you can have all of the right ingredients, if the chef doesn't get it right, none of it works...in this case I think of Caleb as the chef. He's shown he can make masterpieces in college - now lets see him really take the next step at the NFL level and show that he can be a "Michelin star" QB.

So it is Monty - I’m going to say Monty is player B.
-
I’ll guess on was A train albeit I thought he was a second rounder? Or is one the MSU back Langford (thought he was more a 4th rounder)?
-
If they don’t think highly of Swift they wouldn’t have done what they did this offseason and in the draft. Unless we are about to see a trade.
-
They have made it clear - they want depth and people to battle. Backs in general get hurt and you want to balance workloads in camp. They will carry 4 but they should have 6 at start of camp and I don’t really count our special teams back. So really we have 3 real running backs on roster and that is counting a 7th round pick (one I like but a high percentage of 7th rounders are out of football asap)

Chubb. Don’t love any of them but I think Chubb has the work ethic and being a year removed might still have some juice. Another name is Jamal Williams - had 17TDs with BJ in Detroit. Didn’t do much in New Orleans past two years though.
-
It might be they like this guy as a RT prospect and have doubts on Jones and think Wright can play LT so this becomes the combo. I don’t love it but I like our new oline coach so I’ll trust what he figures out.
-
They drafted an OT in second round. They had no LT prospects available at 10. We literally have no idea whether they would have taken Banks if he was there - my guess is they would have, but either way - when you take a guy in 2nd round I’m presuming it means they liked the prospect they are getting and also see them pushing the incumbents. You don’t take people in 2nd round if you don’t think they have a shot at making an impact this year or the following year.
-
That is the point - they didn’t just draft for need which is good. While they may all bust - I feel like they actually drafted good football players with potential and quality measurables. In some cases grabbed a guy who fell vs where he would have been projected 6 months sooner but for reasons they think don’t make sense (Wr due to bad qb play and our DT due to a stress fracture he played through)
-
Bad oline play / good pad level. Let’s see what he can do with what is hopefully a better oline.
-
There is going to be a lot more competition in camp and this draft reinforced that.
-
I could see bears signing a vet free agent given how draft played out.
-
I like what bears did - I didn’t think they got cute - I think they got a lot of quality football players or decent talents with strong measurable who hopefully can be coached up. Competition for the oline is significantly improved between draft and free agency and same when I look at offensive skill position players.
-
The BC guy is a potential starting right tackle - which gives bears a ton of flexibility if they decide they like Wright at LT - he also could be a depth guy at LT and at his size could swing into guard. The BC guy can play - I don’t know if his upside is there but he is a solid addition and the line is a ton better.
-
I think you are really overreacting when you think in rounds 4-7 there is a major consensus. They added 4 guys in first 2 rounds - leveraging a trade back and got 3 guys who over past 12 months had first round grades at a point in time. Stewart was playing with an injury all season - if it really impacted him they are getting a pretty high upside dline candidate and the wideout was clear bpa and his only knock is small hands. His draft was very much impacted by lousy qb play at Missouri.
-
Protectable center or guard option - real good draft pick this late.
-
Curious where they see him playing Lt on line. Like what they have done. Focus on measurable in late rounds.
-
I don’t get the comparison at all. If you are going to argue late round picks it’s fruitless and ultimately they just got to draft guys they think have measurable or will overcome lack of measurable when it comes to late rounds. Overall I think they focused on best available talent and guys they could project throughout the draft and they acquired more picks and focused getting a maximum number within range where the depth of this draft lied.
-
Seen a lot of spots that had him as a pretty good value pick at this point of draft. We have good db coach - let’s see what they can get out of those tools.
-
He has measurables - like legit tools. Big and fast.
-
Pick up a future 4th for moving from 5th to 6th. Not bad.
-
Another trade - given this was more of a depth draft in general - I don’t mind this. Would love to pick up a future pick out of this too
