I should note - if Joe Alt was in this draft, I would be standing on the table to trade one of our 2nds plus #10 to go up and get him. Would be a no doubter and I’d probably even go heavier than that. But Joe Alt isn’t in this draft. Could there be an all pro LT in the draft - sure, but I wouldn’t bet on it being any of the top guys and could just as easily be the 4th or 5th OT off the board. It is why as much as I am not a fan of taking Jeanty at 10 that I would have zero reservations if Bears took him at 10. I fully believe he is an all pro talent. Now if I had a view another one of the players on board was an all pro type of talent (agnostic of position), at that point I’d look at positional values. Now if I thought Warren and Jeanty were all pros - I actually don’t know which position I would rank higher. Would probably lean Jeanty because they have Kmet.

I will say - my personal opinion is all of the LT prospects have too many warts to take at 10. I also tend to think the same thing with the line prospects. They all feel like guys who you could get between 15-25 in a normal year. I also think the next wave of LT prospects (Simmons, Minny OT) are probably guys who are 20-30 most years and might go 30-40. Dline I think the wave that goes in 30–50 are probably better than most years. It is why I think the Bears have to really focus and say if they stay at 10, who is a difference maker, who really stands out above the rest and is going to be a great football player for a long time. Is it a DB - go get him…don’t reach for an LT or DT when you think you have a probowl DB or RB or TE or LB there. Using many positions as an example. same thing in round 2 and 3 - if the board lined up and you take one of Simmons or the other tackle in round 2 cause you think they are a high upside guy / potential good starter there - go get them. If the next 2nd rounder you look and go wow, we got a guy we have a high guard grade on, go get him too. Bottom line - go where the talent is not where the need is. The roster is there to get talent vs need. The Bears need talent - period. If it means LT gets ignored, I think you than add one more vet in free agency and go with what you have and swing again next year (knowing they did a lot this year). Bottom Line: Polls can not get cute. Go get starters and guys you view as individuals who can develop into starters and have upside. Not drafting for floors - go big or go home with first 4 picks.

Lol safety was the very next one I was going to pick.

This is fun - I think 1st 4 will be (in no particular order): OT, DL, HB, WR/TE

https://mcshay-report.beehiiv.com/p/how-to-build-through-the-trenches-in-the-2025-nfl-draft-87f29cafaf3f5b51 Thought this was pretty good by Tod Mcshay. Focused on the oline and interior dline. Real nice things said about a few of our favorites - Banks, Simmons and Minny LT all had good things said. Simmons concerns around work ethic mentioned - basically most talent LT, but injury issues and some work ethic stuff cited.

My pick: Banks Stewart Mykel Williams
-
Quite frankly I’d be fully game with Stewart. Production not quite there but we have a good coaching staff and his tools are ELITE.
-
He is the defensive player I’m taking if they want a linemen. He played hurt this year and still was good…his tools are great though. But what he showed grinding through hurt for his team was impressive.
-
Wait what did I say? I’ve said Jeanty is my pick if Bears don’t have a high grade on a LT, DE, DB or a good trade down offer when they pick at 10. Jeanty is a blue chip talent and a true difference maker and the Bears flat out need more of those in general.
-
Any rb will have a sharing of load. You have to. What you don’t want with a pick this high is a one dimensional back, imo.
-
Good- fair price for an above average slot corner whose best years are still ahead of him. Plus it says something to rest of club for rewarding internal guys who are doing the right thing.
-
I agree with you regarding him as a 3 down block and I do think him and Swift would be a real nice pair - both are diverse which means defenses will have a hard time knowing what is coming / defending what they bring.
-
Henderson, OSU backs or Jeanty I’m in on. Hampton too - but my guess is Hampton is gone before the Bears pick in 2nd round.
-
I think they want a 3 down type or back. Doesn’t mean they won’t use Swift and Johnson but they don’t want a niche guy in this draft imo. They either get a speed guy who is a 3 down guy or a power back who can still catch.
-
I like Kaleb as well. I’m a Hawkeye fan and he was excellent. His 40 was a bit slow but he is a good back and he played faster than the 40.
-
This - I’d expand and say a stud lt, de or cb (if they have a high grade on one of the two guys projected top 15). But ultimately - Jeanty looks like the real deal to me and he has a shot at being a top 5 in the league back. That’s a game changer and we need some of those so I totally get it if they go that way. I also like the OSU backs a ton - Henderson being my preference.
-
If Jeanty is there at 10, I can live with it, as long as they didn't have a high grade on an OT or Dline or DB. Moving up for him - good grief. I would be more comfortable moving around / down with Rnd 1 and than using some of that leverage to move around in Day 2 (plus having some extra day 2 picks). That presumes they have high grades on the next set of backs (ie. both OSU backs, the Iowa back, I'm going to exclude Hampton since it seems like he is going to go in Round 1).

Nate Tice on Hoge and Jahns was a good listen - spent a lot of time on oline candidates. Mike also has had some good content recently. Much of it aligns to what a few of you have been saying about Banks being a better LT candidate than Campbell - but a lot of love for Membou.

Draft Odds: Over/Unders via the bookmakers
DABEARSDABOMB replied to DABEARSDABOMB's topic in Bearstalk
I think one of the big misses might be Connelly here. A lot of helium with him - stick to him or Simmons are best LT prospects in draft - but with risk. If Bears want one of them - they can move down but given premium on tackle I can see them going earlier than expected. -
Thought it was interesting to see where the books have the draft odds starting with the highest names tied to the Bears and than on down. NFL Draft position Over/Unders: Mason Graham (5.5) Will Campbell (5.5) Armand Membou (6.5) Sanders (8.5) Jalon Walker (8.5) Ashton Jeanty (9.5) Tyler Warren (9.5) Will Johnson (11.5) Mikel Williams (15.5) JihadCampbell (15.5) Tetairoa McMillan (17.5) Matthew Golden (17.5) Mike Green (17.5) Jayden Barron (18.5) Banks Jr. (18.5) Colston Loveland (19.5) Omarion Hampton (19.5) Jaxson Dart (24.5) Emeka Egbuka (29.5)

Yeah I agree. If you have a total stud it is harder because they can do it all. It is when they are one dimensional that it makes it easier on the D. I do agree you don’t want to have just one back - but having a top 5 running back is a real good thing and helps the offense, defense, oline and qb. I say it helps defense because time of possession and rest that comes from a back who can control the clock helps the defense too.
-
I think Conerly or Simmons are high probability picks in RD 2 and I could even see them moving up. Right now I would want nothing more than a qb to be there at 10 that drives a team wanting to trade up - or some other position - but it takes 2 to tango. I think no obvious blue chipper will be there at 10 - so I’d rather move down and than get a 2 for 1 approach. Address OT, RB, DL, TE and Wideout with 4 being in first two rounds depending on what you can swing in trade down.
-
Im going to say if Jeanty and Campbell are gone - it will be a TE or Db. Im going to guess they take Will Johnson at 10. This assumes Jeanty, Graham and Campbell are gone. I think they like Simmons most if they go LT and it isn’t Campbell. That is my hoping they go high end DB prospect (Johnson and Johnson sounds like a great duo) vs the TE spect albeit it seems like a lot of momentum headed toward the PSU TE. If it were a year ago and it was Brockers id say yes - but I don’t think Warren is Brockers.

One bummer is the coaches haven’t really gotten to work with the players much. Do they get a mini camp before draft where they can at least put them through some agilities or is first time coaches get to really do anything right after draft when you have rookie mini camp and than some of the full mini camps / Otas leading up until training camp.
